Thanks,Ed

  14. Hello Everyone~ I haven't been on this site in a while, So I will update you. Last August I purchased a 1957 Buick Roadmaster Convertible and brought to a Classic Car restoration company in IL who shall remain nameless for now. Anyways, They said the car needed a complete brake job,All new front end parts, and all the fluids changed since the car had not been running for some years prior. I was told the car would be done in about 2 weeks or less. After 2 months and $3700.00 later ,(Mostly for parts) I recieved a phone call on a Saturday Morning that they went out of business and my car had to be removed in the next 24 hours before the Sheriff ceased the property and my car. Well after my severe meltdown I went to the place to retrieve my car and parts that had been ordered and maybe installed on it. When I got there, The car was still sitting in the bay with the wheels and new Cokers I bought for it installed, The convertible top motor was out and the new one just sitting in the trunk. The fuel tank had been sent out to be boiled but was not reinstalled, And my Brake booster was sitting on a bench in a 1000 pieces with no directions on how to put it back together. (They were accidently thrown out) I saw no evidence of any new front end parts,Installed, sitting there or even ordered. I the front end parts cost $1900.00 and I know I will never see the parts or the money for it. So after another $175 tow bill to bring it back home, The car now sits in my garage once again usuless. So I have some questions I would like to ask so I may finish the damn thing myself and get it on the road so it can celebrate it's 50th Birthday proper and not sitting in my garage. 1) There is a screen for a filter on the transmission,Is there an after market filter replacement availableor all these cars still driving with the screens? 2)Where is the fuel filter located? 3)How do you clean air cleaner element? Element is spot welded and crimped in place 4)What I can I use for a 10W substitute for distributer luberication? 5)What can I use for SAE50 oil substitute for air cleaner oil? 6)What is the equivelent to Super #11 Hydraulic brake fluid? 7)Delco #11 hydraulic Brake fluid is used for the conertible top motor and system. What is the equvelent today? 8)How do I clean air breather on valve cover? 9)Where can I find the correct color engine block paint? 10)What type of fluid do I need to lube the alternator? Thanks everyone in advance for your help.
