  1. Need the email address of Merv Adkins. Anyone know it?
  2. Contact Dave Cole- the editor of THE WAY OF THE ZEPHYR- who has been following ownership of the 40 Continentals for over 35 years as their historian. Send him you body number and chassis number. Bet he know its history as much as anyone. Dave's address is in the directory.
  3. Luis: what are the numbers stamped on the front cross member by the drivers side motor mount on your car? Best clue as to what year your car is.
  4. The information is as follows: 5Eh = 1947 56= body style- Lincoln Continental Cabiolet 420=body number. The 420TH convertible body produced that year There should be three more numbers on the car that designate the "chaasis" number. There is a number starting with 7H------(6 numbers) that is stamped on the drivers side front cross member by motor mount, the same number stamped on the drivers side rear frame member just about below the gas tank filler tube and the same number that is stamped just above the inspection plate on the transmission itself. All three numbers should match if car transmission has not been changed. Many cars had their trasmissions changed over the years so the numbers will not match the "chassis". Hope this helps.
  5. Suggest that "S" stands for "SPEED" since the control knob in question controls the speed of the heater blower motor-fast or slow- depending on its current position.
