I have a 75 caprice with a 400 small block. I need to replace the plug wire looms that attach to the brackets that use the same screw that secures the valve cover along with the harness and plug wire looms that attach to the top of the valve covers. Any suggestions where I can find these? I've looked at the local auto stores and did not find anything.

I have a doctoral degree in organic chemistry from Emory University and have been at Mercer University for 17 years-first as a professor teaching organic and currently in the Provost's office for the last six years. Basically, we oversee academic administration for the 11 colleges that make up the university. You can tell why I know very little about cars. I was in school 22 years!

I am attempting to paint some plastic seat belt covers a different color. I am using plastic paint from Yearone. However, the paint readily peels in sheets after drying. I precleaned the plastic with detergent before painting. Should there be better prep for increased adhesion? Any assistance would be appreciated.

I looking for webbing. I have fond one place that sells it for $9.95 per yard already colored. Any suggestions? I can but beige or black but need tan and my first shot at dyeing webbing did not go well. The belts were stiff and the colored dye eventually fell off. Thanks!

I have a 75 Caprice Classic convertible and an electrical issue has me dumbfounded. If I am driving with the lights on and hit the high beams the dash goes out briefly. It can also do it if I am raising the top and turn on the ac. Yesterday, the doors were open and I hit the switch for the windows to raise. The interior lights kicked off and the dash briefly went out (radio is the giveaway-no music). I notice when I raise or lower the windows that the interior lights dim. SO, this electrical issue is sporadic but driving me crazy. Any suggestions?? Thanks.
PS-Also, when this happens the clutch on the air conditioner does not fully engage and it starts to slip. So, it is not getting the full 12 volts to engage the clutch.

I have a 1975 Caprice Classic convertible and the original tan seat belts are so stained that they are really an eyesore. I have washed and scrubbed them to no avail. The plastic sleeves that covers the floor bolts and provide support for the front seat belts are also shot. Any recommendations for sleeves or webbing companies. Will replacement webbing affect judging in AACA events. Everything on the car is original. Thanks!

I have a '75 Caprice and recently had the undercarriage cleaned of rust and rustproofed. However, not only did the fellow knock residual rust off the gas tank, he treated with black matte rust encapsulator. So, how do I get this treatment off the gas tank and back to it's natural color? Any help would be appreciated.

I have a 75 Caprice and want to rework the doors. The paint on the lower interior door panels is chipped and some of the original paint is peeling off of the panel. Any ideas on how to remove the paint without ruining the plastic? I would then repaint each panel. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

Does anyone know what the factort mats looked like? Where they rubber or cloth? Snce it had bench seats, was there one single mat for the front or were there two separate ones? Any help and/or pictures would be great!!

I have a 75 Caprice and the driver side windshield wiper is not seated correctly. I cannot get the small clip to engage to lock the wiper. Is there a special tool I need? Any suggestions?

I have purchased a 1975 Caprice Classic convertible from my dad. It has 46,000 miles and is in really nice shape (at least this is what all of my dad's AACA friends say). I have shown it in a couple of very small local shows and the judges say with some cleanup it would be a top rate car. An AACA judge told me to start under the hood and go from there. I have cleaned a fair amount but see paint is faded (or worn) in certain spots. My questions are: 1. Where do I start to get a car that is in great mechanical shape to show condition (everything is original and I have lots of time), and 2. what do I do about the paint situation? For example, it is obvious the air cleaner is faded and the fender well around the battery has a small amount of corrosion, as does the firewall. Also, the master cylinder shows some surface corrosion (I suspect from brake fluid). As you can see, I am clueless. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have a '75 Caprice (400 small block) and need to replace the loom clips for the air conditioner wiring harness. However, I have found many that will handle the loom but not the two spark plug wires also. Any assistance would be appreciated. It looks like a regular loom clip but has two notches that the plug wire can be placed. I have looked in the Auveco catalog and they do not have the type I need. Thanks!
