  2. Thanks Guys, Thanks for the help on my gas tank problem. I have used "Kroil" in the past, but have run out. Isn't this product only available thru mail order? The hair dryer is a good idea, I have a hot air gun I use for heat shrink tubing; i'll try that. Yes !!! never use open flame ! Even if the fumes are gone, all of the joints are soldered and the tank is "tern"(sic) coated. No use getting into more trouble. Larry
  3. Hey "hands on guys", Anyone have a good method o breaking loose the "fuel tank filler sleeve nut. I have soaked it pent. oil for weeks. This 1936-1939 LZ, looks similar to '37 Ford. It has a fine thread and a ring of holes for a spanner wrench; similer to chuck wrench for a Bridge- port lathe. It's my spare tank , and restoring it this winter. All other hard ware is off. It's a good tank; just needs cleaning , coating, and painting. Larry

    Gas Float

cokekid, just replaced the float in my gas take last winter, it held out since 1975. Brass just does that! It seems formed brass, floats, fog light rims( hydro embitterment-chrome plating.) I purchased my from DRAKE Ford parts. My local Ford dealer had a similar float, same basic Ford part#. Fits a Bronco, a little smaller, but itworks
  5. Phil, I had 3 emblems done by an artist in Calif. several years ago. She had the vitreous glass ( I called it closinea (sic) ) removed , new plating done and re fired with glass . Costly but absolutley beautiful! Her # 760--941- 1966 webb-- karlamaxwell@msn.com she advetised in The Restoration Supply Co cat. AS far as plateing , where you are located , drive it up Harrisburg PA to Librandi's best chrome I havehad done, and I have used a lot of companies. They will not do a short cut job, their reputation depends on it. The rear bumper and 2 guards cost about $650. I had good steel to work with; no grinding ; the chrome plte top coat just worn off after 25 years. good luck 86H760 Larry
  6. Thanks V12 Bill, I'll try that trick LArry
  7. Hey Zephyr guys-- Anyone have sucess in painting the '38 license lite lens cover? I'ave done it 5 times and can't get it right. I'am using "one shot " pin stripe paint. Did Lincoln motor co use a stensil? The squeege did not work Larry Butcher
