  1. Thanks, I've always liked 59's and couldn't pass on a convertible. For those who were wondering, I did find a old post says the extra length is from the rear quarters.
  2. Hello, I just picked up a 59 Electra 225 convertible with some rust issues. I'm going to start looking for panels so I was wondering what is shared among the 3 models. I know the 225 is the longest model but is that length in the fenders or quarter panels? Will any 2 door 59 deck lid fit? Mine is tweaked and there is some rust in the weatherstripping channel. Also the panel that runs above the trunk lid and between the fenders needs to be replaced. I did find the buick-59 site but not sure it's still active. Thanks for the help! Raul
  3. I did this about 2 years ago. I just called the 800 number and asked if I could use the number. They were able to tell me if the number was in use. It was still a issue though when I went to the dmv office to do the paperwork. They were confused and recommended that I don't turn in the paperwork. I did anyway and the plates were approved by Sacramento. This was for a 37 plate by the way. I have to do the same with my 65 and I'm not looking forward to it. Good luck.
  4. Looks like a great place to walk though.
  5. I haven't done it but there are plenty of different lights you could use. Your car, do what you like.
  6. My 57 special has ps, pb, radio, and a chrome dash insert. Built in Canada. It's not engine turned so I'm thinking it's probably not right. My car isn't stock so I'm not concerned and I like the way it looks.
  7. Wow, all of those parts are tempting.
  8. Beautiful car. Good luck on the repair.
  9. Nice stuff on this thread. I'll just post this pin for now.
  10. Sorry to see that happen. If you decide to part it, I could really use the long trim that runs from the rear to the door. Good luck with the sale.
  11. Not a flex fan. Correct spacing and set up of fan/shroud. 160 deg thermostat, I think. Standard rebuilt waterpump-not ac. Cap pressure is 13lbs, maybe. Ha, I haven't had to think about all this in awhile, amazing what Im not sure of. I do remember that cap pressure was low because Im using the original tanks with a new core. Thanks for the helpful input!
  12. Great! Thanks everyone for clearing that up. Too bad it won't work for my 49.
  13. No clutch, 6 blade and I cant remember the length of the blades but much longer then normal. Also running a shroud. Electric fan cfms were the largest I could find at the time. Long time ago so don't remember the exact number. Electric fan made the biggest difference. I'm sure it blocks some air at high speeds but so far that's not a issue.
  14. The engine in my 49 Roadmaster is stuck. Although it will be awhile before I need a engine, one has popped up. Im not sure what it is or if the transmission is an automatic. It is a 320 according to buicks.net. Engine number 4971469-1 Thanks in advance!
  15. Not sure but possible. The radiator has been recored and upgraded, 6 blade fan, and electric fan. Of course the summers here reach above 100 (last week had about 5 days in a row >100). Only gets really hot when idling or stop and go traffic. I think every nailhead I've ever owned has ran on the warm side. Hopefully this is pertinent enough to the thread as to not derail it.
  16. Thanks for taking the time to provide all of this information. I believe my 49 Roadmaster has the same issue. I'll have to save this for when I'm ready.
  17. Not to hijack your thread but I was wondering if your concerned about the extra load causing the engine to overheat. I've always wanted to add AC to my 57 Buick but it runs warm in the summer as it is.
  18. I've never used it but here is a tool. I have a cheap swap meet one but have never used it. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mfy-8021392?seid=srese1&cm_mmc=pla-google-_-shopping-_-srese1-_-made-for-you-products&gclid=CKSnnofbuNQCFQ9EfgodqosOHg
  19. Mr. Earl, Very impressive!!! I've never seen more than 5 in one place!
