  1. Thanks for all the great information. You are correct about the just the center of the roof having a fabric cover. That is what I was talking about. This is on a 110. The metal surround looked more like a metal track that encircled the fabric. Seems like there was some sort of "tar" involved with putting this cover on as well. If your sure about the metal being round bar, then thats what Ill go with. I do want the original look. Ill take a look at that Elk grain fabic. Thanks again for taking the time for such a detailed explanation.
  2. Hello, Does anyone know where to find the metal piece that holds the vinly top in place? Raul
  3. Thanks John and ED. This is going on a 66 intake on my 65. I understand that the 66 carb is the only one that is the easiest to replace.

  7. A the 57 and 58 steering wheels the same? Im talking about the the 3 bars and the rim. Not all the chrome pieces. Just the striped down wheel. Wondering If I can use a 57 wheel and just add all the 58 chrome pieces to it. Thanks, Raul 57 43 65 Riv

  11. Thank for all the help. I seem to missing the pointer. The hole is round with a slight indention. Would the pointer be at the 12 o'clock position? I'm just going to have to guess.
  12. Where to put the timing light? I tried to check the timing on the flywheel-is that correct? Should the octane selector always be at 0? When would you change it? thanks for the help
  13. Where to start? 1. Engine is backfiring from tailpipe and carb (new carb). 2. Seems to overheat. 3. Idles rough. I've changed the points, plugs, carb. I tried to set up the timing. How do I set it up? I tried to look through the hole below the starter. I cant see any mark. Even if there was one, what do I align it too? Threre isn't any mark or pointer near the hole. Whats the pointer (o to 10) below the distributer for? what should it be set too? It's set to 10. The car is my Uncle's but I'm trying to help. Anyone know a good Packard mechanic in Sacramento ,Ca area? Thanks for the help in advance, Raul

  18. Thanks for the replies. The one on ebay is out of my league. Id like a driver that I can work on but would look at something a little less. 3Jakes: Wow. Lots of good info here. Exactly the type of stuff I need to know when looking. I assumed the sedanettes were basically all the same. I'll have to watch for a super or even better a Roadmaster. Auto trans would be nice too.
  19. Thanks, they are both such great looking cars. Prices seem to be all over the place for both. Luckily I have time to wait because I still have my 57 4door hardtop to drive around. Thanks for the welcome. Raul
