  1. Too bad you couldn't get a decent number of responses to this Lamar.........
  2. Well, I guess you must have that project finished now..... And you didn't need any help!!! Bill
  3. "Hope it turns out as well as the one above" Oh, come on Tim, dream on...... (You know I'm just kidding) You've got me by one porthole each fender already.
  4. That's where I got the idea. But, since the red is not correct, I have pretty much discarded the idea. Bill
  5. Just posted my little covey...... search on Bill & Ann Madden
  6. I have read that Black, Red, Blue, and Green were available. If they were available, then someone may have ordered one, I would think. I am inclined to go with 'if I like it, then screw the judges or anyone else'. I sure couldn't convince any Buick guy that my valve covers and spark plug covers are OEM. I know my car is original Osage Cream, Red/black, and the wheel is called Black, but it has a barely discernible blue tint in it. I just installed power steering and that would have been a good time to paint the column, but of course I waited till now to think about changing the wheel. Frankly, if I do it now, I would probably only paint the upper portion of the column. I do need a nice correct horn button tho'. Bill
  7. Need '53 Power Steering horn button with very good plastic and color. Bezel not important. Bill M.
  8. Would a red wheel on a '53 Buick convertible, with red/black dash and red interior, be acceptable for judging w/o point deduction??? Thanks, Bill
  9. Anthony, I would be glad to assist you restore your Dad's Buick. I may be as old or older than he, so I should have the appropriate perspective. I have lots of pics of the tear-down and spent four years doing all that is necessary to end up with a much better car than I ever dreamed. If you will pardon the expression, 'I have been intimate with nearly every part in a '53 Buick convertible, so I can brag that I can answer most questions, or know who can. I would not mind communication via regular email. I was wondering what the original color had been for the Buick?? Bill
  10. Just a note for future readers of this thread..... There is no difference between '53 manual or power steering clamps. I just swapped to power and used the clamps from the manual, on the power box. Bill
  11. We just did this drill. My buddy found the correct 1/2 inch bit used to remove the big screw plug, but still didn't release. He then removed the pitman arm, let it hang, and it came loose. I think the pitman has to be positioned all the way to the left for the ball to come out of the slot. Good luck Bill Madden
  12. Thanks for the complement Anthony. Isn't Anthony a typical Italian name????? I'll assume you are Irish anyway, but if you are one of the guys that drove that assy up to $600.00 I should tell you to f___-off instead of trying to help you find another. There is mention of another assy in this thread. Read a few more posts and you will see the address of where it might still be. Good luck. You can send me about $200.00, that's how much too much I paid for it. lol
  13. YAHOOOOOO! It's installed. What a difference. And works as good as modern units.
  14. Need front bumper emblem suitable for a nicely restored 53 Special. Bill Madden
  15. Yep. That would have been Arapahoe, Nebraska in 1956..... Getting ready to start actual installation of power steering on Monday 4 November 2013 Bill
  16. Too late Rob. Thanks a ton anyway. I have an assy off eBay. Paid $610.00 Ouch! a coupla' other guys wanted it as bad as I did. That's what I get for not shopping more. Bill
