  1. "All metal" typically means that it has original steel fenders, running boards & doors, not fiberglass reproduction parts.
  2. I wonder if he meant that he has more than the $1800 asking price in the car. There are some great parts there if, like me, you're trying to put together a 33 Pontiac!
  3. Check here: https://www.teambuick.com/reference/ident_engine_53-58.php As far as I know,: 6=Century D=1957 That indicates a 364 CI with a 4 barrel carb and 10:1 compression. You might also want to use some of the additional features described on the Centerville Auto Service site: https://www.nailheadbuick.com/post/information-for-identifying-nailheads
  4. This is the 1924 Cadillac we purchased in 2019. It was originally sold in St Catharines, Ontario and as far as we can determine, it was owned by one family since new. Three fenders appear to have been repainted. The original 23" wheels were replaced with 20" diameter wheels after WWII because 35 x 5 tires could not be purchased in Canada. At a recent Cadillac-LaSalle meet, the judging team was confident that the body paint and the interior were original. It had about 82,000 miles on the odometer when we bought it. All of the wood is original. The original top covering is in place, but it was covered by a layer of aluminum roofing sheeting. Removing the aluminum and replacing the original top material is on my project list. I'm in the middle of repairing the lower windshield frame to enable the dual opening function of the horizontally split windshield.I still haven't cleaned all the grease and "waste oil undercoating" from the underside. the undercoating and grime is almost 1/2" thick in some areas. I was shocked to find that the springs still wore their original leather covers when I got under the car.
  5. Here's a link to the listing: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1920-american-la-france-speedster/
  6. I'm no NFL fan,but Google was helpful... https://techcrunch.com/2014/08/03/nfl-will-let-teams-use-microsoft-surface-tablets-on-the-sidelines-during-games/ Began in 2014. The carts are secure, lockable storage/charging stations for the sideline Surface tablet computers.
  7. This is a great thread, Scott. But I gotta admit, it scares me to think of digging into my Cadillac! Glad to hear you had a good experience with Hart Machine. I haven't had any work done but them, but they've done 2 or 3 jobs for a friend of mine and he has also been very happy with their work. Joe
  8. Ron, your workmanship and attention to detail is inspiring! I can't wait to see this car in person! Joe
  9. What a great car! In addition to the stamped tag on the frame, the vehicle number is stamped on top of the frame, on the left frame rail above the front axle.
  10. Steve, Glad to hear that the surgery went well and I hope that you enjoy a rapid recovery. Joe
  11. Great looking car! I'm looking forward to seeing more of it. I don't think the 57 and 58 window seal systems are identical. Have you tried CARS (oldbuickparts.com)? @1957buickjim will know what you need; he just finished a 57 hardtop wagon. Joe
  12. Matt @jackofalltrades70& Lance @lancemb, I don't recall if there is any difference between the 57 and 58 versions of that dash plate. I don’t have any spares, but Jim Pickard @1957buickjim might have one.
  13. @Buick35 @Oldtech I think Oldtech might be right. The handles certainly look like the handles on my Beach toolbox:
  14. I agree with Terry. Sure looks like the Corcoran tail light on my 1910 Buick:
  15. @Professor If you don't keep this Cadillac, I suggest that you clean it up, get it running and see if Bring a Trailer will take it. As you said, clean, low mileage examples are doing well on that site and this could be another big winner if the underside cleans up as well as I think it will. Dry ice blasting is expensive, but it is probably an excellent way to get this one ready for auction. As for the colors, I think it is a striking combination and will probably do well at auction.
  16. I have had no problems viewing the December issue.
  17. I always try to start with the least abrasive products on "new to me" old paint. I would begin with a clay bar treatment on that Oldsmobile and see what happens. I have been amazed at what a clay bar can do, and it is MUCH less abrasive than any polish or rubbing compound.
  18. I use industrial conveyor belt webbing or old tire sidewalls.
