  1. I'm also in Southeast Michigan - just north of Detroit. I've owned my TC since 05 and I've only seen one local TC event here - A few folk from Florida organized a trip up to the Walter P Chrysler Museum. It was a great sight to see so many TC's in one place! I'd love to try to do something like that again someday!
  2. I had good luck with Great Lakes Auto Repair (http://www.greatlakesautorepair.com/) in Pontiac a few years ago (luckly I haven't had to go back so I can't tell you if the same guys are still there), The TC Club had a get-together in Auburn Hills a few years ago and a couple guys had some pretty major work done there as well (one was a head gasket replacement). I've had a little work done by All Night Auto in Livonia and they seemed pretty knowledgable about the 2.2 Turbo in my car. A couple side notes - 1) Where did you get your interior and softtop work done? My softtop is going to need work at some point and I could use an armrest fix up. 2) I see you're in Ferndale! So are we! Keep an eye out for our Yellow/Ginger 89 around town!
  3. Welcome to the club! I'm also in SE Michigan (just North of Detroit). I have an 89 Yellow/Ginger/Tan with the 8v 2.2. There are a handful of TC's around here, but definitely not very many. I actually just spotted a red one with a black top up in the Auburn Hills area over the weekend. It's always exciting to see other TC's! :-) Have fun and enjoy the beautiful weather we've been having! - Steve
  4. So sorry to hear this. I had the pleasure of meeting Ted when he organized a Michigan TC meetup at the Chrysler Museum a few years ago. He really made me (a newcomer to the TC at the time) feel welcome at the event. The TC community has lost a true friend.
  5. Once again, it's time for my annual post just to see if there are going to be any other TC's heading out to the Detroit area for this event. Is anyone planning on taking their TC out to the Woodward Dream Cruise this year? I've only seen a handful of TC's represented there in all the years I've been going (only saw one other one last year) For those that don't know, the cruise is Saturday, August 18th this year. It heads up historic Woodward avenue just north of Detroit for 16 miles starting at 8 Mile in Ferndale and turning around out in Pontiac. There are also events in some cities on Friday (I know for sure there are events in Ferndale at least). I live in Ferndale and I usually take the TC up to around 15 Mile or so (Birmingham/North Royal Oak) and take in the sights for a while before heading back down to Ferndale to hang out around here. Let me know if you're planning on heading out. It'd be great to see the TC better represented among the near 40,000 classic cars (by some estimates) and nearly 1,000,000 spectators! Like I said, I have only seen a handful of other TC's in all the years I've been attending. It'd be great to see some more TC's out on the road so others can admire them! I'll keep an eye out for any other TC's. - Steve 89 8v Yellow/Tan/Ginger
  6. Yeah, probably an April Fool's Joke (April issue of C&D), but fun anyway!
  7. A friend of mine pointed out something he read in the latest Car & Driver. A google search for "Chrysler TD Maserati" brings up quite a few hits... Is Chrysler bringing back the TC by Maserati? | Fox News One pic I saw looked like a spoof, but at least it's renewed interest in our cars!
  8. Well, I ended up seeing one other yellow TC (Moden, was it you?) around 11 and Wodward. They were headed Northbound while we were headed south. We each shared a honk and wave. Surprisingly, a handful of people recognized the car this year. We ended up cutting the day short early because of the storms that blew through. Any other TC sightings?
  9. It's time for my annual post just to see if there are going to be any other TC's out there... Is anyone planning on taking their TC out to the Woodward Dream Cruise this year? I've only seen a handful of TC's represented there in all the years I've been going. For those that don't know, the cruise is Saturday, August 20th this year. It heads up historic Woodward avenue for 16 miles starting at 8 Mile in Ferndale and turning around out in Pontiac. I think I may have been the only TC out last year. I'll keep an eye out for any other TC's. - Steve 89 8v Yellow/Tan/Ginger
  10. Thanks! Every year I think that I should try to organize something more formal to try to get more TC's involved and every year I think about it just a few days before the event. Maybe next year!
  11. Well - the rain was a bit of a damper on things this year. Finally did get the TC out with the top down though! Didn't see any other TC's, but at least there was at least one represented!
  12. I can sympathize with wanting to avoid the area, it does often resemble a big parking lot! I live in the area, so I figure if you can't beat 'em, join 'em! Actually, to dispel the myth, it's really not that difficult to avoid the cruise festivities if you're from the area and know your way around streets other than Woodward and the mile roads. I usually take the TC up the back roads and drive back down Woodward just to take in the spectacle and end up taking the car back home and walking to downtown Ferndale if I'm in the mood to take in any more. I think the event is much more enjoyable to just walk around at rather than drive at! Thanks for the invite for the 25th, we have some things going on that day, but what time is the event? Maybe I can fit both in?
  13. It's that time of year again for the Detroit area. Is anyone planning on taking their TC out to the Woodward Dream Cruise this year? I've only seen a handful of TC's represented there in all the years I've been going. For those that don't know, the cruise is Saturday, August 21st this year. It heads up historic Woodward avenue for 16 miles starting at 8 Mile in Ferndale and turning around out in Pontiac. There are also events in some cities on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday (I know for sure there are events in Ferndale at least). Woodward has been packed with classic cars every weekend for quite a while now and I'm sure this week will be busy. I'll keep an eye out for any other TC's. - Steve 89 8v Yellow/Tan/Ginger
  14. Welcome to the world of the TC! Great to have another owner in the Detroit area! I've got an 89 Yellow/Ginger/Tan 8v in Ferndale. Where are you located? - Steve
  15. How much with shipping to zip 48220 for the fuel handle (I also asked about the door sill trim on your other post). Is it just an easy piece to slide on? (Mine is missing, so I have to idea how it attaches).
  16. Is that the door sill from the driver's side? If so, how much would you want for it with shipping to zip 48220?
  17. Dennis - That must have been another TC parked on the East side just north of 8. I didn't park there at all. I also spotted a red one with the hard top parked in Ferndale behind the new Rosie's. I think someone local owns that one because I think it's the same one I saw parked at Western Market in Ferndale a few weeks ago. So, looks like the tally this year was 3 TC's, a better showing than I've found in past years! - Steve
  18. We're once again upon the Woodward Avenue Dream Cruise. Are any other local (or non-local) TC owners planning on heading out this Saturday? I'll be out and about in my yellow 89.
  19. It's time to clean up my TC after a winter of resting too! I'd love to hear some tips as well, especially for the engine compartment and the soft top.
  20. Just putting out a reminder that Ted Morningstar has arranged a get-together for TC owners in the South East Michigan area (Metro-Detroit). Friday, May 15th at 1 p.m. there will be a tour of the Walter P. Chrysler Museum in Auburn Hills (http://chryslerheritage.com) and Saturday from 10-4 the plan is to have our TC's parked out at the circle drive at the museum. There are some other plans for the weekend as well. As of last notice, it seems that there are at least 15 TC's making the trip. It'd be great to see how many local (or semi-local) owners we can get to show up to add the festivities! We don't seem to have as many active members in this area so we generally don't have a chance to see this many TC's all in one place (let alone just spot another ONE)! Hope to see you there! - Steve
  21. Also - I went to pentrident.com to grab that info. I mailed off the form to Ted today and I also shot him an email to get more detailed info in case the form gets delayed in the mail. I won't be around that whole weekend, but I'm going to see if I can swing by on Saturday at some point. Not sure about the Museum on Friday yet. My car hasn't been woken up from winter storage yet and the first thing I need to do this spring is get a new accumulator put on. I've ordered it, so now I just wait until it gets here.
  22. Tom - I didn't see your TC at the cruise. I guess that makes one more there!
  23. We have ours out at the Woodward Dream Cruise every year. I've only seen one other there in all the years I've been going. I have heard that there have been some others though. I just emailed Ted Morningstar to get more information about the Auburn Hills trip. Do you have any more information about times and places available? - Steve 89/yellow/ginger/tan/8v/early build
  24. It's going to be a lot of pressure to be the one TC out of 40000 classics this year (unless someone else swings by). I better make sure I get it washed and waxed well so it's a good representation!
