  1. I got real lucky, found upstairs in the dealership's attic an unopened, unused, plastic still on it , ABS brake out box, specifically for the tc. so hopefully we can start to work from that end. appreciate the help !
  2. I am back again, 89 turbo 4, months later, stored in barn for winter, had a local "expert" look at it , it sat outside for three weeks, seemed like he did not really know what to look for or did not have time ? Anyhow, brought car back to my local dealership where I work, buddy here trying to help. I have moved it around dealership a couple of times, brought it back from above mentioned shop, no brakes, no pump, just hard brakes. Mechanic here went out this a.m., was going to try to put his diag machine on it , started car, and could hear pump running, all of a sudden had brakes ...? drove it around parking lot... good, turned car off, went to get diag machine, came back turned car on , no brakes no pump on ? He was asking if there is a individual spot for the ABS diagnostic tester to plug in ? I guess my question is- why would the pump go on intermittently like that ?? This has happened a couple of time since it has been off the road . Any ideas out there ? thanks
  3. I was not real clear on what I tested, I actually pulled the fuse in front of the brake relay out, then tested for juice, sticking the pin into one side of the "fuse hole", that is why i meant one leg was hot, the other not ? i did not test or touch the top outside of the fuse itself. The pump side if I remember correctly was a 4 or 5 pin connector, that had power to only one leg. I will check that connection again. I really wish it was only the fuse, boy do I ever, but it is back in my barn, and I will do what i can , like i said before i am a raw rookie when it comes to cars, much better working with wood. thanks again for your help, I do appreciate it.
  4. Finally got to test the wires, fuse in relay one leg has juice, pump connection 5 pins i think, 1 pin has juice, so i am assuming it maybe (must be) the pump. I have the red service manual, just bought the blue one on ebay, coming soon. directions to take pump out are pretty extensive, (from the red book) will it be the same in the blue manual ? Big question is if it is the pump, are they available ? bringing car home, work on it in barn, when I can, hate seeing my baby out in the weather at the dealership. thanks
  5. Rich, I have posted a couple of threads on the brake problem I have on my 89 tc, I live above saratoga springs do you know anybody in our area who can,or would work on the tc's thanks Berney
  6. I took the relay box off, elec looks good, actually very clean under, did not notice anything burn't wires felt tight. I am a novice, with out a lot of money to bring the car the to a jaguar dealer, have to try to do this myself with the dealership i work at. should i test at the left relay to see if the pump is getting juice through there ? w/ the ignition on should 2 contacts have elec ? I did buy a new relay at parts store with the same 4 prong contacts, thinking maybe the relay was bad, still did not do anything, Anybody have any more ideas ? thanks
  7. thanks for the info, i guess i'll start with the relay, i believe from other posts i've found the booster relay is : if i am standing on the passenger side with the fender in front of me the relay to the far left (closest to the fire wall ) would be the one, i will check the connections there, clean them up, and will the key on, the booster should make a startup type of a noise ? (spooling) i'll start there, thanks for the help,
  8. reply to tc data base 89 build ? 203375 yellow, ginger, black 8 valve auto o/d, no cd, has woodgrain fuzzy speakers
  9. thanks for response, i had just come up on interesection 1/2 mile from work, first time on brakes, and just lightly, lights went on, on way to work, also very light braking if any on that route, i live in very rural area and drive my tc like an "old man going to the cattle auction" i will confer w/ the tech who is working on it, thanks again
  10. Hi, New to this type of forums.. Have 89 TC 2.2 auto 40k, great shape, summer car in upstate N.Y., going to work friday abs and brake came on, on way home at traffic light lost brakes, hard break (does stop) but have no leaks . I work at dodge chrysler dealership , mechanic tried finding old service books but new ownership threw them out 4 years ago. he did find some books but were little help. spent about 3 hours friday trying to decipher problem thinks that the pump/motor is not getting power. Came in monday am and moved it out of his bay until we can find more info on the problem, now the brakes work ?? lights are still on though, only thing he did other than play around with some wires, he did disconnect the battery , Any ideas ouit there ?? Thanks Berney
  11. Hi. I have a 89 2.2 auto, love it , have had it for 4 years now has about 40k on it , never had a bit of problems with it until last friday. Coming in to work the abs and brake light came on,stayed on. on way home stopped at intersection and lost brakes... hard brake, no leaks, I work at a chrysler, dodge dealership in upstate N.Y., in sales not shop. they have tried to find "the books" on it in the attic to no avail. Mechanic working on it is not familiar with this type of car and this type of ABS system. he was looking at some old manuals and did seem to come up with the conclusion that there is no power to the pump/motor. could not figure out why. stopped for day on friday left it in his bay and monday went to move it and now has good brakes, but light's are still on , all he did was move some wires around, and take the battery out to get at other bundles, now I have brakes butr lights are still on. Anything you can tell me would be muchly appreciated on solving this problem. I am afraid to go back out on the road and have the same thing happen. thanks for any help you can give me Berney
  12. First time in forum, 89 tc, abs lite and brake lite went on on way to work, after work, 1/2 mile down road lost brakes, hard peddle. no leaks. I work at chrysler dodge dealership in sales, not a mechanic for sure. had one of our mechanics spend 3 hours on it getting old books out of attic, seems i have no power to my brake pump/motor assembly ? but he is at a loss on where to continue old guides we have here are not explicate enough to the tc, any ideas out there ? thanks
