  1. I just bought a new front windshield from Pilkingtons. Should be in Edmonton by Friday. And it's for an Estate Wagon, no guessing, bonus. Cheers. Michael.
  2. I am just putting back together my 59 Estate Wagon. I am looking for the front and tail gate clips for the windows ... and the front and tail gate molding clips. Any thoughts? From Edmonton. Cheers. Michael.
  3. Dear Dyna: I too am looking for clips especially the front and back window clips for my 58 Estate Wagon ... and the clips to hold the front and back window molding on. Any thoughts? Cheers. Michael.
  4. Dear David: Thank you for the kind words. I am glad you enjoyed it ... and yes, I think other brass era and history enthusiasts will enjoy it. As you know it has garnered a number of awards. The picture cars are now living at the Reynolds Auto Museum in Alberta. Cheers. Michael.
  5. I have a 49 Merc Half ton. When I first rebuilt it in '78 I found that the corrosion around the starter switch made it work intermittenly. I put a new one in and scrapped the light rust away and it worked great until 1990 when I repainted it. Then the same problem. I scrapped a little of the paint away and added another body ground from the inner wheel well to the engine. I have not had a problem since. And now, it gets to get another paint job in the spring. Cheers. Michael.

    Zust

If you can post a higher rez version of the photo I can check it against our files. We have almost 2000 pics from the race that we used in The Great Auto Race 1908 | In the Beginning documentary of the 1908 Race. The Zust, like the Thomas and Protos, changed a great deal over the course of the race. You can tell where they were by their appearance. For instance, in Vladivostok the Protos stripped most of its weight off for the final dash. The Thomas changed in Buffalo, Cheyenne, San Francisco, and mildly throughout Siberbia. There is another post on this site, for example, that shows the Flyer from the Wyoming archives. These pictures are not of the 1908 race but the 1909 cross USA race. How can you tell? Check out the fenders...and driver. We have a great picture of the Zust arriving in Paris that we could compare your pic to. The Zust in Victoria has a "cameo" appearance in our film.
  7. There are a few pictures on our site The Great Auto Race 1908 | In the Beginning but there are a lot more in the film we made The Greatest Auto Race on Earth. We spent 8 years researching and making the film. We found over a 1000 original photos in an attic in Buffalo, several hundred Alaska/Indiana pictures in a show box in Las Vegas, and then another couple of hundred from other researchers in Europe. They were all carefully scanned at 600 DPI to discs. Our originals are now in the hands of an archivist and photo specialist to preserve them. Oh, we even found the trophy given to Schuster in San Francisco, and the trophy given to Koeppen in Moscow. Cheers. Michael.
  8. Just found this thread. It's too bad it did not happen as Bill and the boys were going to take our picture-cars (Thomas Flyer and German Protos) on the route with them to help promote our film and generate some PR for their race. The show is airing on Superchannel in Canada. There are pictures of the build of the cars and more details on the actual race as well as a link to purchase the DVD. Cheers. Michael. 9. The restoration of the Zust is a great story. They came to the screening of The Greatest Auto Race on Earth in 2008 when we premiered it. And, they brought out the car to the Reynolds to sit with our Thomas and Protos picture cars. It was great to see all three winners together again. We were able to incorporate a few shots of their original Zust into our film with our replica Zust. The film was just awarded the EP Ingersoll Award at the Society of Automotive Historians in Hershey this October. Our web site The Great Auto Race 1908 | In the Beginning has pictures on the build etc. Cheers. Michael.
