  1. Just a question for clarity. Correct me if I'm wrong. When did we have a change of President to the BCA board?? If my memory serves me correctly, and I am looking at my lastest issue of the "Bugle"- March 2007-- Paul Meyer is the current BCA President, -- isn't he?? Maybe Jeff meant to say PAST President of BCA. Just my 2 cents to stir the pot!! LOL!!
  2. Greg, I will suggest you try contacting Bob Flint, @ Commercial Car & Glass Co. in Downers Grove. Bob is Owner/Manager of above and is also a fellow BCA and Chicagoland Chapter member. He has worked on several of the memberships old Buicks. If Bob can't help you directly w/the windshield problem, I'm sure he can steer you in the right direction. Are you a BCA and or Chicagoland Chapter member?? If not, might I suggest joining. I believe Bob would also have some applications at the shop, to either club if you're interested. His address and such as follows; Commercial Car & Glass Co, Inc -- 4330 Lacey Rd, Downers Grove, IL 60515 630-969-4560 (right off Ogden Ave- just Behind D&M Corvette Sales & Service). Hope this helps.
  3. body lines suggest small body 61-62 Special
  4. Buicks' styled steel wheels (road wheels) were a huge success and popular option on Buicks over the years. The wheel being so popular many people scoured boneyards to find a set to put on their other GM brand car- Over the course of their lifetime there were subtle changes to the wheels, some in the bolt spacing, some in the diamater of the center cone- taper and width- the "turbine" centers as you call them will not fit the later year wheels- the center openings are smaller. I believe '69 wheels are the last year the vaned center cones will fit. There was an continuing article that ran in the Buick Club magazine, "The Bugle" over several months, a few years ago that was extensively researched as to the differences in the wheels and what years and models the various styles and changes fit. I am currently trying to locate that article in my back issues for another member. I will let you know when I find the article on the road wheels.
  5. Guys, For those not already in the know. Jim Schilf passed away on Nov. 16, 2006. A very valuable source of Buick knowledge and parts was lost to us all.
  6. Hi Pete, Sound like you're describing the primative emissions decal of the time-- gives idle speed, timing setting, etc. If its the same as my 75 Convt, the decal mounts on the radiator hold plate, off center towards the driver's side-- about centered on the left half of the panel--between the Lt end and center. This is the one appox 6-8" wide that sits atop the core support and that you have to remove in order to remove the radiator. I do not believe it has to be perfectly centered or perfectly straight in this panel either--- I am the original owner of my 75 and the decal is set on an angle in this space-- say maybe 20-30 degrees-- remember the "Quality Control" of the day. All that mattered was the decal was "installed". I have seen them "perfect" and with blisters/wrinkles in them. Hope this helps--- If you need a pic or 2--, let me know, and I"ll go out to the garage and uncover the '75 from hibernation to take a couple pics with the placement on the panel. Rick Schick may also be someone to contact on this also-- He has a '70 Lesabre convt. and would have the exact placement knowledge, as he bought this one new. 9. Have you tried a NAPA dealer?? I have had good results obtaining older vehicle parts with them-- Usually have to wait a day or two for them to be shipped from the warehouse. Not to many calls to the individual stores to make it worth their stocking, but they have been able to come up with the parts. They were even successful in supplying a new PVS (Port Vacuum Switch) for the intake manifold vacuum lines on my 75 LeSabre-- Now discontinued thru GM. The hobby is becoming bigger and bigger each year and I have found most of the Chain Parts stores to be more accomadating and good reliable sources for obtaining most mechanical and suspension pieces. Doesn't hurt to check with your local stores first- most are able to cross reference a major manufacturer that covers the needed part, or may know who to try contacting. Hope this helps. 10. Dave, My '69 GS is in Embassy Gold w/blk vinyl top and int. It is an Original, Unrestored car. Still wearing her Original Laquer finish from 69. I can send you a photo or 2 if you want to see what the combination and the Embassy Gold looks like. Seems to shade differently in different lighting. From a deep, rich Gold in bright sun to a soft Light Brown/Bronze in shade or twilight. 12. Glad to see the train being put back on the tracks. Hope the transition goes smoothly for all involved. Looking forward to attending my 1st ROA National next year in Asheville.-- Longtime BCA member, shorter time as ROA- finally no conflicts in dates for attending. 13. Let the games begin.... Looks like they already have. Went to the ROA site yesterday as Dick suggested and saw a listing for what I think is the "NEW Adisory Board". Should have printed it last night when I saw it. Went back twice today to access and print it, and the first time I tried to access the ROA Advisory Board listing under the "About the ROA" sub listing-- the internet responded with an un "unable to open page" on the first attempt---- went back half an hour later and the "ROA Advisory Board" sub link has now been totally removed. This does not sound like this is going to be a cordial transition of control shifting to the "NEW" Board. Nor does it seem like this is going to be settled quickly for the best interests of the club. I sure hope I'm wrong. The "new" board needs to assert themselves in their new positions and right the ship and get us back on course. If what I saw was indeed for the "new" regime, and I remember correctly, there is going to be a new address for the ROA, to Altoona, IA, with the Pentico's name listed?? I also remenber seeing Darwin Falk's name listed as one of the officers, and Ray Knott as taking back the responsibilties for the "RIView" publishing. Don't remember the other listings of who is in the other postions. Hopefully, this problem is corrected in the very near future for the good of the membership and the survival of the club. 14. This is the first I'm hearing about problems within the ROA. I know the "RIView" is a couple of issues behind, but never heard or realized internal problems existed. Does anyone know at this time if this will have any effect on the 2007 ROA National Meet in Asheville, N.C. Although I have been a longtime BCA member, I have only been an ROA member for a couple of years and I was looking forward to the Asheville meet to be my first official ROA event. Is there anyone that I can contact about this ?? Thanks ahead of time. 15. Recieved mine in Thursdays' mail 11/16. As previously said- "another great isuue from Pete". Pete, keep up the good work and the very interesting articles. It sure is nice to have someone with a passion, knowledge and love for Buicks as the editor of the "Bugle", and the additional fact he knows what "spellcheck" is for and how to use it before the issue goes to press. No more typo's as in the past. We are finally getting the "quality" magazine the membership deserves and can be proud of, and at a cost savings to the membership over the previous publisher. Way to go Pete!! Don Adams ROA #10055 BCA # 21957 Past-Director Chicagoland Chapter 1969 Riviera GS 49487 1975 LeSabre Conv. 4BP67 1997 Skylark Cpe 4NJ37 1998 Riviera 4GD07
  16. It is indeed a very sad day for all Buick lovers with the loss of Jim. I have been very fortunate to have known and worked with Jim at various Chicagoland Chapter activities over the past 15 years. Yes, Jim was very instumental in the founding of the chapter. He was its first official "Director". Over the years Jim has been the person we always counted on, along with Steve Kelly, for handling vendor registration, organizing and running any swap meets that were hosted by the Chicagoland Chapter. If Chicagoland was in charge of either a Heartland Regional, BCA National, or the annual BOPC swap held at Du Page Co. fairgrounds, Jim was always there, to make sure the people in attendance had a multitude of parts and vendors to choose from while trying and locate that "one much needed" part to finish that work in progress. Jim and his wealth of Buick knowledge will be deeeply missed by all who knew him. All of us in the Chicagoland Chapter extend our deepest sympathies to his family. God must be restoring an old Buick and needed his help and vast Buick knowledge more than we did. Rest in peace "PalBuick" Don Adams BCA # 21957 Past Director Chicagoland Chapter/BCA
  17. I had the same problem. After going to the major hardware chains-- Menards, Home Depot, Lowes with no success, I went to a True Value Hardware store and found that the 3mm dia screw will fit the opening of the Senior medallion. You may have to drill this out slightly with either a 1/8" or 3/16" drill bit. Drill from the back side slowly with a varible spped drill so as not to marr or burr the face of the Senior Award. Find the right spot to mount and go for it. The only hinderence of the 3 mm screw is the available length because of the screws thiness.-- I found ones that were 1-1/2 to 2" inch in length and found the lower section of my headlight doors accomadating to this length of screw. The actual grill area was too thick - over 3". Mine was mounted on my 75 LeSabre Convertible. Hope this helps. Good luck. Don Adams/ # 21957 Chicagoland Chapter

  19. Laura-- I hope I can help -- while recently looking for some parts for my 75-- I ran across a site that seemed to have alot of parts for the 75-- try www.rockauto.com and follow the screen prompts and under the heading "Fuel/Air" they show a listing for the "Air Cleaner Intake Hose"-- the picture appears to be wrong , but the description looks correct-- 4-1/8 inch round by approx 36 inch long for around $19. I bought mine new and have some other suggestions for you. If you would like further help and info based on observations from your photos , I can be reached at dkbuick75@aol.com Having mine since new I can offer some preventive maintenance suggestions, and also note that from your photo, your engine paint color is incorrect for this year. Hope I can be of further help. Don Adams/Past Director Chicagoland Chapter/BCA
