  1. When I was in high school, and drove a black primered 51 Mercury, we used kerosene to give it a muted tone. It was a dust collector however!!
  2. There is a guy who advertizes in our GEAA car club flyer. He lives in Bayard, NE. and can and will make any puller. You can call at: 308-586-1930, or go to his web site: gmcmurtry@embarqmail.com. I have no experience with him, but appears to be a straight shooter. Good luck!!
  3. WOW! Thanks to you all! I never realized the problems associated with it on the floor. Having grown up in Illinois, I never experienced what you described, even though we had standing snow and slush for months. My only problem was getting into the car in the morning with frozen weather strip, and then not being able to close the door afterward! I am now smarter!
  4. Question: Why and when did they take the headlight dimmer switch off the floor. Seems to me that having to remove your hand from the steering wheel to change lights is more of a safety problem. Or, was it a cosmetic thing?
  5. The part in question looks to be part of the floor board, toe board as some call it. My 27 has one, and makes the transition from the flat floor to curve up under the dash.
  6. Well folks, It took that much when I restored my 27 Sedan, not counting labor! I'd like to get $25K for mine, but know I'm dreaming!! As the saying goes, "you can ask anything you want, and hope for the best"!! Chuck
  7. Where are you located?? Makes a difference as to bidding.
  8. When I restored my 27, the following firms had just what I needed. Try: WWW.restorationstuff.com, or www.restorationspecialities.com. Both had catalogs with pictures of what I needed. Good luck!
  9. My thanks to you all!! Seems like a can of worms! As to the blocking, I don't have a clue as to why I'm on that list. Needless to say, I won't be bidding on any item that requires Pay Pal!!
  10. Just a note: I went to the trouble of finding the wire type clamps when I restored my 27, but unless you can find the old red hose, the clamps will not be tight enough to work with modern black hose. Had to resort to the current clamps.
  11. Thanks Keiser! You some how got thru, but I tried that "other" numerous times with no luck. Never got to ask him why he only wants Pay Pal. Appreciate your reply!
  12. General question:: What is the logic in only taking bids on e-bay items with Pay Pal? It appears to me that a lot of folks, me included can never bid. Case in point, item 120685100563. He has had no bids, and I cannot go to him with a question, as he has this access blocked. Any help appreciated!!
  13. All of our car show/swap meets have a complete turn signal kit, that includes the turn signal switch, and instructions. I believe I paid about $14 for mine. All it does is switch whatever voltage you have to make the lights work. I got Honda motorcycle signal lights at 6VDC, but had to install new wires to the lights, but it all works great. In regard to the seat belts, mine were also purchased at a car show, and came with big bolt plates that go under the seat, on the underside of the body. It would take a lot to have these fail! All of the above were easy to install, and I didn't damage anything on the install. Chuck
  14. Hello!! We have a very good rebuild shop in Puyallup, Wa., by the name of Hagen's auto parts. Their main man, Rick, has had lots of good replies to the work he did. Hagen's phone # is: 253-845-7020. FAX 253-841-1904. Shipping for you might be a problem, but give them a call! Chuck
  15. Well, guess what! No reply, tried to register, all for naught. I give up!! Sorry! I would like to know if any one knows what this tool was used for. Maybe, if I had your e mail address, I could send the pictures to you, and you forward them. I can be reached at jaehawks@msn.com. I dislike having to speak thru a forum, as my matter is oriented more to you than he public. Maybe we should we should talk to each other?
  16. No problem. I did sent a message to them requesting an e mail address to send pictures to. I haven't figured out how to send photos via some web sites, but I can do e mails. We'll see what happens. The wrench I have is very unique, and must have come with some piece of machinery. Been searching for info for a long time. Thanks for your reply!
  17. Tried to access this place with no luck. I would like to submit a tool picture for their thoughts on it. Any e-mail address that you know of? Thanks for the help! Chuck

keiser 31, thanks for your reply! I see you on the DBC forum a lot. I'll post the picture soon as I can get a picture of it. I'm sure there were many manufactures out there, and I may be off in left field as to this being Chalmers.

Can anyone tell me if Chalmers ever had wire spoke wheels? I have a wire rim with tire and hub cap, and as near as I can tell from the cap logo, it appears to be the same symbol as their company logo. It is a 19 " rim, with a 4.75 X 19 Allstate tire. Any help appreciated! Chuck
  21. Good choice of cars!! I recently finished a four year total restoration of a 27 Dodge sedan, and would be happy to help you find resources for parts, etc. I'm located just south of you, in Auburn. Give me a holler if I can help!! Chuck at jaehawks@msn.com
