  1. George, Here is a link to the lyrics. Email me if you need translation: SONG LYRICS: BIG OLD LONG BUICK
  2. I have been telling people my 1960 Electra has "Voice Command". I just point at the dash and say "Start". They don't see my foot on the gas pedal.
  3. I saw "Tolls" and immediately knew that New York State would be involved somewhere. I think the state flag says "Just Keep Paying". Bernie
  4. Look for some punch marks in the circumference of the rear flange where it bolts to the rear end. Some one may have marked it in the past if the new service did not index it. Second, lightly loosen all the engine and transmission mounts bolts. Start the car and let it run a bit and tighten. Sometimes guys put stress on the parts during assembly. Bernie
  5. Oh, that car! It is the old Sunoco Special. I remember the colors. It seems like there was also a legal battle with the New York State Troopers about a trade mark infringement with the blue and yellow. Last I heard the car had been hidden in an ENRON exec's garage. They keep surfacing don't they. Bernie
  6. Sold. What a deal. The new owner made a deposit, left, and called me back in an hour to ask how much I was selling it for. Now there is an excited new owner! Bernie
  7. I took a serious look at the 1998 + Lincoln Town Cars, actually 2006 to 2008 before I bought the '94 Impala SS. 4.6 Litres was still 280 cu. in. and overhead cams put the power band higher than my 63 year old foot thinks it should be. I think the 350 TPI, 3.08 posi, and 21 miles per gallon is ........... Justified. Bernie
  8. Help keep this baby on the road. I am in western New York. If you are near and have a tranny.
  9. Hi, I need a transmission for my '86 Electra PA project. The ideal would be an old stock rebuilt collecting dust on someone's shelf. Next would be from a running car. Then it gets about where I am with one to rebuild. Anyone like to clear out older non-moving stock? Needed in the western New York area, zip 14420. Call 585-797-7421 Bernie
  10. I was recently in the market for a car. I use my '05 Silverado most of the time for work. My wife has an Infinity QX4. My previous "second" car was a 1994 Buick Roadmaster. New York winters had taken the toll on that one as they had the previous 1994 Roadmaster. I purchased the first Roadmaster after experiencing 3+ years with a Buick Park Avenue Ultra. 60,000 miles in the Ultra really turned me off to unibody cars. Early this year I started shopping and I can buy pretty much what I want. I began to focus on a Lincoln Town Car or a two wheel drive Tahoe. As gas prices rose I targeted the second week of June as a purchase date. I figured gas would be at about $4.50 a gallon and I would capture my car at around a $5,000 discount. Well, gas prices started dropping and then Japanese production was curtailed. Used car prices did not work in my favor. The "new" car had to be one I could stick the key into and drive across the state if my truck was not available as well as be a good "plain folks" car for family stuff. Besides the two mentioned, I looked seriously at Jaguars, Rolls-Royce Spurs, Crown Vics, Marauders, Lucernes, hesitant (but interested) in Northstar powered stuff, pretty much the kind of cars a 63 year old guy would like. Two weeks ago I paid top price for a very nice 1994 Impala SS. I wanted reliability, durability, and a great all around performing car. When I picked it up it was parked next to a 2011 Buick Regal Gran Sport WITH A FOUR CYLINDER!!!! GM, what gives????? We are so lucky we have 100 years of cars to choose from! I'm happy. Bernie
  11. Wray Niffin, Ron Degroff, and Bill Biche have orchestrated that booth since the days of the dinosaurs and it is a highlight of Hershey for Buick people. Bernie
  12. I guess the handicapped placard is the key. Without one you have to park the cart at the entrance. I had a friend who was in bad shape last year but not handicapped. I shared the rent on the cart with him and we learned the rule. I didn't have a problem with it. He is still grumbling. I'm wearing a white hat here and trying to help. Bernie
  13. Chris, You may want to know that golf carts are not allowed on the show field, just the flea market. And it is a big show field. Bernie
  14. If I wanted to drive that car I would have a flanged steel exhaust "header" fabricated while I looked for the proper replacement. The need of a pressure plate seems odd. A call to Rochester Clutch & Brake at 585-232-3717; should have that resolved in short time. If those don't sound like good ideas let me know how much you will sell that unrepairable car for. It shouldn't be worth much but I have a little. Bernie
  15. The best paint I have found for "chassis black" in the last 20 years is Valspar Satin black. It is real; nice with an epoxy primer undercoat. Bernie
  16. I got to use my '60 Electra in a Daisy Duke photo shoot this week. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time, I guess. The photographer is Tina Yost, Tina Marie Photography. She is doing some corporate head shots for me next week so she's pretty versitile (tinamarie.photography@yahoo.com). Here are a few pictures I took of them taking pictures.
  17. I have 8.20x15 wide white biased tires on my '60 Electra and 7.10x15 narrow white biased tires on my '64 Riviera. Both have suspension in excellent condition and drive very well. I have been reading stories about biased vs. radial since 1976. The most common story I have heard goes something like this: "I took the 28 year old biased tires off my car and replaced them with radials. Boy! What a difference!" Anything replacing ancient tires would be an improvement. Radials will be forgiving to worn suspension. I may not be a good judge from my personal experience. Buicks have been famous for their ride and braking since the 1930's. A lot of lesser cars were not very good to begin with so the radials may compensate for engineering shortfalls on them. A bought my second set of Coker Firestones from Summit and saved about $200 on the four. About that "lesser car" term; I have coffee with a friend who lives and breathes Mopar. I can put just the right intonation on "lesser car" to really make his sizzle. Bernie
  18. If you are using wheel covers you might be able to get some 5X5 15" steel truck rims. Just check that your wheel covers will work. Weld Wheels is one manufacturer. Bernie
  19. I listed my 1953 Jaguar Mark VII on Craigslist: 1953 Jaguar Mark VII I love this car and have realized that I will never get it done. Besides I just bought a '94 Impala SS that only needs shining. I have owned the Jag for about four years and added a lot of parts to the collection. I have been watching this model on ebay and other online sources. This car is better than most of the shiny ones. Talk to me, we still have a couple months of good car moving weather. I want to make room for that little '86 Park Ave convert. Bernie Western New York 585-797-7421
  20. When you are cleaning old electrical contacts, using a pencil eraser does a great job. It is not abrasive like sandpaper or files and does not leave metal or oxide deposits behind. Bernie
  21. I have found that clutch problem to sometimes be rust built up on the transmission spline. It doesn't allow the clutch hub to slide back when the pedal is pressed. Focus your attention and liberal penetrating oil on on the hub and spline while having someone actuate the clutch. You might not have to disassemble the works. Bernie

My body shop friend hates me when I tell people this..... If you haven't worried about the paint in 20 years just go out and get a half gallon of kerosene. Dampen a soft cloth with the kerosene and massage it in gently. Then take a clean cloth wipe off any excess. When it starts to dull or get dusty do it again. I have literally made thousands of dollars doing this. I read a label that said "petroleum distillates", hell, I know what they are! Bernie
  23. Even with the wheels left on the car, I bet you could still get more by sweeping the floor and closing the glove box. That kind of thing makes it look uncared for; like it was abandoned in a storage unit or the like. I bet it could be a nice car.
  24. Looks like Arnold on his race to the White House.
