  1. Hello I have a 3800 Olds trofeo 1990. It cranks and starts for a second then stops. If I take off the air filter tube at the air cleaner box and spray starting fluid into the tube it starts and runs fine. I can shut it off and restart it for maybe 2 days or longer then, Crank and start for a second or so and then back to the starting fluid and then ok for a few days. I had a service engine soon light on it was code 41 cam sensor. I replace the interrupter and the cam sensor cleared the code and thought I fixed it but after a few days of starting fine and no code I had a no start (as above) shot of ether and good to go again. Any ideas guys? Thanks in advance
  2. Hello Can I swap a 1988 Reatta ECM with a 1990 Reatta ECM? I am having passkey VATS trouble and the 88 and 89's don't use the passkey. I was wondering if I were to swap in the old to the newer will that work? As the ecm wont be looking for the Passkey module. Or will just swapping out the PROM do the trick from the 88 to the 90? Just checking. Thanks Paul
  3. EBDSO is correct. I use fishing line when I have to remove stuck on (double sided tape) molding or emblems. Nut I guess floss would work as well. Paul
  4. Hello Can anyone tell me how to bypass the VATS system on a 90 Reatta? My Son's car wont crank with the key. I can jump the starter and the car will start an then shutdown. So I am assuming the ECM isn't getting the VATS code to turn on the Fuel pump, (I am guessing). Please help?????
  5. Hello I have a 1990 Buick Reatta. The problem is, the car will not crank. If I jump the starter it will start and then die. I do have the correct passkey in the ignition. I also tried another key for the same car. I do have the service book for the 90 Reatta and am looking in the security, passkey, enable crank relay, section. Has anyone had any luck trouble shooting this kind of problem and if so am I in the right place??? The book says to look into the ignition cylinder for the for the passkey resistor contacts. What am I looking for?? Any help would be great Thanks in advance
  6. I have a 1990 reatta and my Son took it to the mall and when he came out it wouldent start. I used another key as it has the resistor key. Nothing. All the lights work along with all the other stuff (radio, heater, ect...) The headlights dont dim when the key is turned. I checked the battery and it is new and the connections are clean and tight. Any suggestions? Thanks Paul
  7. Hello Groupe I am a new member with a few Olds. My question is I just bought a 1972 Olds Cutlass "S" with a 455. The Vin is 3J57U2Z130675 Is this an SX ? I was talking to a friend of mine and he was saying that only the SX cars wer equiped with the 455 as standard equipment. Is that true? If so how can I verfiey that it is an SX code car? Thanks in advance Paul
