  1. Thanks for the reply. I was browing the web and found an old black and white picture (maybe it was original?) under the hood of a 1964 Olds 442 and this black decal was on it too. But then I saw two more yesterday online that had no decal at all. I dunno! I guess I will just leave well enough alone. What did this decal say that you mentioned in regards to the battery? Thanks again! Craig
  2. I just thought of another question. On my Dad's 64 Oldsmobile, there is what appears to be a "decal" that almost looks like it was painted flat black right on the top of the fan/radiator shroud. It measures 7 1/2" wide by 3" high. Is this an old decal or is it something the factory did and it's supposed to be this way? Hopefully someone here knows what I am talking about. I'd like to replace it if it's a worn out decal as it has a hole in it at the moment. See the picture below for a shot of the wrinkly looking black decal on the car now. UPDATE: I was browsing Fusick's catalog I downloaded and found a "engine cooling and fan warning" decal that might be it. Waiting to hear back from them to be sure. UPDATE 2: Fusick's doesn't know what it is either! Odd. I hope someone on here can then! Here is their reply: Not sure what you had there. The fan warning decal is 5 3/4 inches by 1 3/4 inches. The spot you have there looks a lot bigger than that. Thanks! Craig
  3. Hi! Thanks so much for both replies. I will try the 1/2" ratchet trick to remove the oil plug. And thank you also for the kind words about my Dad. I certainly will be keeping this car forever (unless it's out of my hands of course) as a legacy to Dad.. I'll have it out at some car shows in my area this summer. I even told him I was leaving his personalized plates on the car as I told him it will always be his car and I will just be looking after it now. I'll have to get some good pictures of it and post them. Thanks again! Craig
  4. My father recently passed away and left me his beautiful, almost all original 1964 Oldsmobile Cutlass 2 door sports coupe (330ci 290 HP Ultra High Compression). The car has 20,000 original miles. My dad told me before he passed away that the car was overfilled with oil a bit and before I took it out, I was to drain some out. I tried to do this over the weekend but found the factory drain plug with what appeared to be similar to a "Torx" style hole in it but was actually 9 point. I tried several torx sockets to see if I could find one that might fit the center of the plug (it's smaller in diameter) but nothing seems to fit. Is there a special plug I need to get this out? I've never seen a plug like this! I am hoping someone can help me out. Thanks for all replies. Craig
