ALL MERCEDES EVENT COMING UP..... The Annual "STAR CARS" Charity Concours d'Elegance for Hospice. Sunday, June 25, 9AM..... "STAR CARS", Regional Charity Concours d'Elegance for Mercedes-Benz automobiles only. Cars will be displayed in and around the "Millionaire's Village" in the Historic District under the magnificent, sprawling oak trees for this first class event. The recipient charity is Hospice. The last STAR CARS donated $1500 to Hospice and we are hoping that it increases this year. Following the Concours and Awards Ceremony there will be a catered Lunch at the Villa Mariana, the circa 1928 restored Mediterranean style mansion, open to all Sponsors, Exhibitors and guests. This is a "bring the whole family" event. Bringing kids? Spouse or significant other not a "car person"? There's so much to do on Jekyll Island. Here's just a sampling: horse-drawn carriage or motorized tram tours of the historic Landmark District, 63 holes of golf on 4 courses, Summer Waves Water Park, miles and miles of unspoiled beach, Jekyll Museum, dolphin cruises, special 4H programs for children ages 5-12, 20 miles of paved bike paths skirting the ocean as well as winding through the inner island's natural habitats, bike rentals galore, DNR guided sea turtle walks to view the nesting loggerhead turtles, horseback riding on the beach and through the maritime forests, tennis courts, mini golf, Tidelands Nature Center with aquarium exhibits featuring fish, turtles, alligators, and other animals native to coastal Georgia and touch tanks with hermit crabs, whelks, and other marine life and more, kayaking, canoeing, birding and coastal marsh tours. Again, all proceeds from this Event goes to Hospice. I have discounted rooms with breakfast included blocked at the Quality Inn, Jekyll Island, directly across from the Ocean.
