  1. I am helping a friend with a condensing Stanley that needs a speedometer gear to attach to the inside of the right front wheel. Here is the broken gear. The inscripotion "80 T 10 P" probalby means 80 teeth and 10 pitch. The gear is 8" in diameter and about 3/8" thick. It has five holes for the screws or bolts to attach it to the wheel. Does anyone have one or know where one might be found? Thanks very much! Don Hoke www.stanleysteameronline.com

  4. I'm looking for a spare tire lock for 1924 - 1925 Stanleys. They are not specific to Stanleys and were almost certainly used on other cars. The pictures show the casing and a long shot of the rear of the car that needs the lock. Any help greatly appreciated. Don Hoke www.stanleysteameronline.com
  5. Here are a couple of pictures of the maker's logo on the wheel puller for my 1925 Stanley. It also appears on the axel. Can anyone identify the maker? It looks close to the Armstrong Tool Company, but not quite. Thanks for your help! Don Hoke www.stanleysteameronline.com

  9. Dear All: I am looking for this valve for The BettyAnne, my 1925 Stanley Model SV 252G. It is the pilot fuel valve and is located on the bottom of the pilot fuel tank at the rear of the car. Any help out there? This is the correct handle for the Steam Vehicle Corporation Cars, 1924 Model 750s and 1925 Model SV 252s, I do have a spare handle, so what I really need is the valve body. 12. Dear All: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Stanley Museum! Jim Merrick has emailed the first issue of "the WINKER," the Stanley Museum's new eNewsletter. If you missed it, email Jim at Jim@stanleymuseum.org or call him at (207) 265-2729 and ask him to add you to the email list. Jim came up with the name, which is wonderfully appropriate. The winker on you steam car tells you about what is going on mechanically and the Stanley Museum's eNewsletter does the same every month. We are pleased to announce that the Stanley Museum's online Museum Store is now up and running. Log on through the Stanley Museum web site, www.stanleymuseum.org and you'll find 305 items. Missing back issues of the Quarterly? They're all there, choose what you need? I would highly recommend the Stanley Dealer Bulletins and the Stanley Factory Correspondence, which we have through the generosity of the late Clarence Coons. AND COMING SOON! From Estes Park, a Stanley Mountain Wagon Christmas Ornament! Very best wishes! Don Hoke, Consulting Director Wanted: Parts for 1924 Stanley Model 750 and 1925 Stanley Model SV 252. Always interested in steam car literature. See the virtual steam car museum at www.stanleysteameronline.com.

  14. I’m looking for a large flare nut, similar to the smaller ones Art Hart has on his web site. This brass nut – see picture- has 18 TPI and measures .615” ID. Across the flats it measures .875” and is .750” tall. The male fitting threads are about .775” - .780” OD. My local hardware store (which is VERY GOOD!) does not have anything in this diameter or thread count at all. Any idea where these can be found? Thanks! Don Hoke
  15. Dear Packard Collectors: The Stanley Museum will soon begin a free eNewsletter and you're invited to participate. If you'd like to receive this electronic communication, please email Maine@stanleymuseum.org and our Kim White will add you to our database. Please don't give me any flack about advertising a Stanley Museum eNewsletter on the Packard pages. There are at least two steam-powered Packards out there somewhere. Please share this with anyone interested in steam vehicles. Thank you! Very best wishes! Don Hoke Consulting Director

  20. For Sale: 1924 Stanley Steamer, Model 750, Seven Passenger Touring Car. This car toured in 2007 but not in 2008. It is a very nice looking late model Stanley. Made by the Steam Vehicle Corporation of America. The pilot has been converted to gas, but the burner is conventional kerosene. Pilot parts included for easy conversion back to liquid fuel. New California Top and Side Curtains. Original leather seats in very nice shap. Very good tires. This car is ready to tour. Would look great at the 2009 Steam Tour in Estes Park, CO. For more pictures, see www.stanleysteameronline.com Don Hoke
  21. For Sale: Hudson Frame, ca: 1923 and five disk wheels. This frame had a Stanley Body and a Stanley style rear end, apparently a WW II effort to produce a kerosene buring vehicle. The Better Half says to get it out of the driveway. The rear end does not come with it. The front part of the frame is Hudson and the rear part may be Dodge. Anyway, don't delay or it will go to the scrap yard. Best wishes! Don Hoke
  22. The Virtual Steam Car Museum is located on my website, www.stanleysteameronline.com. We have a fair amount of White material, mostly magazine advertisements, brochures, and instrution manuals. Some are in PDF format and I'd be happy to send you copies. Very best wishes! Don Hoke PS Yes, we're always looking for steam car advertising and ephemera.
  23. I am beginning the interior restoration of my 1925 Stanley Steamer and am looking for the correct upholstery. The sales catalogue describes it as VELMO. Could someone educate me on VELMO? Is it a trade name for some conventional fabric? Many thanks! Don Hoke www.stanleysteameronline.com
  24. The BettyAnne (my 1925 Stanley Steamer) is coming along well. Does anyone have a really good 600dpi scan of the metal labels on the shock absorbers? Here is the better of the two on my car. If anyone else needs these, I'll have to buy 12 to make the order. Has anyone reproduced these already? I talked with Pulfer & Williams and Hershey last week and they have not done them. Thanks very much! Don Hoke
