  1. The search continues. It would appear that the people who have this skill and the equipment to create these parts require lots of time and dollars. I would not expect them to do this for their health. The limited market that our organization would provide is just not enough. Therefore, the high prices. I am not quitting on the quest--I will share the info when and if it happens. Glenn Lorei b6vt
  2. The handle reminds me of a handle from a late thirties Buick. This is an impression I have--let me know If I'm right. glenn Lorei b6vt
  3. Does any one have an adverse experience using a auxilliary 12 volt starting system on their v12. I know that if you have everything operating at its peak, that the 6volt starter is just fine--touch the starter button and its running. I'd like some input. Thanks. Glenn Lorei b6vt
  4. Per the copy of the build card from the Benson Research Center in Dearborn, Mi., my 1948 LC was assembled 03/12/1948. The vin is 8H181292. Were these cars all assembled at one plant? Were the numbers in simple succession or did some of the numbers have a special meaning? Curious ?? Glenn Lorei b6vt
  5. Thanks for the responses. I know we can get something done if we put our heads to this. I will contact Earle. Thanks again. Glenn Lorei b6vt
  6. I recently received a reply from a supplier in California. The indication was that they could only consider "breaks in price " with orders that exceeded 20 pairs of heads. And then no price was quoted. It would seem to me that if there were enough SOLID interest that the LZOC org would or could swing enough interest to make it a worth while endeavour for some party that already had the r and d completed and the casting molds in a ready position. Is there or better yet are there other people in the org that have any ideas on this. glenn Lorei b6vt
  7. I'm sorry I havn't had any firm figures on cost and the source that I was given was not given a very good review. since I am fronting this effort I want it to be flawless. I will continue my effort--there has to be an acceptable source someplace that is also reasonable in cost. Glenn Lorei (b6vt)
  8. I have been asking any source that I have found regarding the number of orders we would need to get a decent price--so far no one has responded--I will keep at it. Glenn Lorei b6vt
  9. Could you give a run down of the parts you used to build this. Do you have an air filter that completes the set up? Very interesting and clean looking set up. glenn lorei (b6vt)
  10. Is This concern in California the only foundry doing this kind of work--does any one know.? Competition is always the item that makes the world go around. Please advise--anyone. thanks Glenn Lorei b6vt
  11. The items named, dual intake and finned aluminum heads are the holy grail of treasure hunts when it comes our beloved V12. This is a thought, If There were enough members interested, could we approach the producer with a mass order and bring the price down. Currently I was quoted just short of $5k for the lot- WAY beyond my budget. Any thoughts? Glenn Lorei b6vt
  12. Does he make '46-48 LC coupe floor pans. Mine are not good. Glenn Lorei b6vt
  13. If you are having trouble pulling the window frame unit from the door. You will find that the clearance between the vent mechanism and the door skin and inside structure is a bit tight. Pull the framework up and pry GENTLY. It will come out. Glenn Lorei b6vt
  14. If you have removed the window frame from the door, you are doing it the way I'd do it. It allows you easy access to the mechanism of the vent regulator. Glenn Lorei b6vt
  15. Both latches on y '48 LC coupe were faulty. The solution was was tearing the door apart and reoving the lock, soaking it in carb cleaner, overnight, then lubing it well with spray white grease. no probs now. Glenn Lorei b6vt
  16. Do you still have the '36 roadster. I am about to finish a 1948 Lincoln Continental Coupe and have trading power. Any interest there? Glenn Lorei
  17. Keith L. Are you casting any of the 46 thru 48 LC plastic?I am in need of the circular plastic moulding that surrounds the inside door opener button. It is maroon in color. Some what like the color of the radio wheels shown. Glenn Lorei b6vt
  18. Rolf, You have been a major source of information, encouragement and numerous parts. Thank you for all you you have done for me. My 48 LC would not be as far along without your help. My prayers are with you. Glenn Lorei
  19. Peecher, Please send the site- it didn't come thru. Thanks, Glenn Lorei b6vt
  20. I am installing the interior in my LC coupe, The upholsterer sent 4 lengths of windlace, 2 long and 2 shorter each pair of equal length, If someone would look in their 46 thru 48 coupe and please tell me, Does the windlace at the leading edge of the door go all the way up to the top of the windshield frame? And does the wind lace at the trailing edge of the door go from the floor to the top of the door body? Please advise. Thanks in advance. Glenn Lorei b6vt
  21. My pump was practically non functioning. It already had the transmission fluid in it. But it was terribly dirty. I removed the pump and carefully tore it apart. I ordered a kit from a company in FL. Flushed the system and rebuilt the pump. I have also since replaced all of the window channels. Both windows go up and retract down smooth as silk. You have a convertible so you have a larger system to flush but I suggest that you do that. Check the hoses. Change the ones that need it with hoses that will withstand the Type A fluid. Glenn Lorei b6vt
  22. Several Questions: Does the other window function? If not check the hydraulic fluid level in the pump, you mentioned an oil leak around the piston on the problem window. If you check the fluid level and it is low fill to the correct level. What fluid are you using? I changed to transmission fluid in mine. If the fluid level is proper and it doesn't raise the window still, Check the window alignment in the in the tracks, if it isn't binding the pump may need a rebuild kit , and the system a good flushing. Remember, patience is a virtue, I have learned it from my '48 LC coupe. Glenn Lorei (b6vt)
  23. Regarding installing the rear fender gravel guards--for almost 5 years they languished in the trunk of my 48 LC . Everytime I looked at them I cringed at the thought of boring holes in that fender to pull those knobs thru and then not have the holes in the right spot. I cut the knobs off. I went to the auto parts store and bought some 3M"SUPER STRENGTH MOLDING TAPE" ITEM No. 03609. Washed that part of each rear fender down with PREPSOL, as well as the back side of the rubber gravel guard. Applied the molding tape around the perimeter and the center of the of the rubber guard., pulled the protective plastic from the tape, (the hardest part of the process) and applied the gravel guards to the fenders They look great. They appear to be securely attached.-- If they fall off I 'll let you know. It will take three 5' rolls of tape @5.00/roll Glenn Lorei b6vt
  24. I have a set of rubber gravel guards that I have not put on the car because the installation was going to require drilling holes in the fender. I too was going to get some direction from someone with prior experience AND success. Any help out there? Glenn Lorei (b6vt)
  25. I am coming close to the end of a restoration on my '48 LC coupe. My new interior is in my basement gathering dust waiting to be installed and the last major thing left to do is to detail the engine compartment. The current engine was redone by a previous owner so I know nothing about it. Since I am wanting to detail the e compartment I want to pull the engine and thought that if I was going to the bother of pulling the engine why not have a fresh one to put back in. I found the find of a life time. A block already prepared. boiled out and cleaned, align bored and bored out .20 over, crank already dressed, it comes with all the bearings, cam shaft bearings already installed and new hardened valve seats. I need pistons, rings, gasket set, oil pump, valves, lifters and water pumps. I want to use high capacity water pumps and oil pump. The latter is where the experienced LZOC friends come in. What is the best place or places to go for these items? I thank you in advance for your advice. Glenn Lorei (b6vt)
