  1. Does any one know--Will a wiper control for the 46 to 48 lincoln sedan fit the LC. I have one spotted for the right money. Glenn Lorei b6vt
  2. As an addition to Dee's question regarding the vacuum w/s wiper switch, does anyone have a shop manual that would illustrate the vacuum diagram that indicates the correct ports for hoses on the w/s switch?? Glenn Lorei (b6vt)
  3. Get ahold of Gretchen at Kepich. She will help you. She sent me templates which I can forward to you. She charged me $35 I'll pass that on to you if you are interested plus the cost of shipping. Glenn Lorei b6vt
  4. to avoid any miscues on my part--can any one tell me, When adjusting the brakes, do you push up to tighten with the brake tool or do you pull down.? One brake, the left front is so tight I cant move the adjustment and I don't want to make it worse. (Is the direction of the adjustment different on the right side? Glenn Lorei (b6vt)
  5. I found a w/s washer jar and pump. Where does this pump go. There are two holes that match the holes to the jar holder but at this position the jar is anything but level. does that matter? That position is just forward of the battery, close to the top edge of the engine compartment. (1948 LC coupe) please advise. Thanks. Glenn Lorei b6vt

To any one interested, get hold of Chris Herrel for the top nut on the antenna. Glenn Lorei
  7. Michael, Yes I did the whole deal. The trunk, interior carpet, door and side panels and leather seats. I paid a local upholsteryman, a friend to install it. I did not want to screwup something that was so nicely done. I helped. I looked for a long time previous to finally choosing. You will deal directly with the lady that does the sewing. She will send samples to you for color and textures. and she will walk you thru it. I am pleased at the result. Glenn Lorei b6vt
  8. Merv Adkins in the Sources ad portion of our home page has a 1953 convertible. You may want to call him. Glenn Lore b6vt
  9. My experience with Kepich has been very good. It installed well and it looks good. When there was an issue they were there to help and to correct. A good, reliable source. The price was right too. Glenn Lorei
  10. Try Merv Adkins in "sources". I was just out at his place and he has a huge stash of parts and his forte is '42 Model LC's. Glenn Lorei b6vt
  11. Please bring me up to speed on this item. Glenn Lorei b6vt
  12. Larry, Thanks for answering--I removed my air cleaner several days ago and clumsily(sp) spilled oil all over me and the car. That prompted me to explore another way. I don't want to alter the filter piece in any way. So please let me know. thanks, glenn Lorei (b6vt)
  13. Does any one know what can be used in the air filter on the 48 LC instead of oil. Is there a paper filter that will fit without modifiying the hardware. Thanks. Glenn Lorei 9275
  14. I am 76 and about to retire from a 44 yr career with State Farm as an agent. A wonderful experience I might add. Our cars are a classic thing of beauty. The design put into a three d object by Bob Gregorie will live long after we are ALL gone. There will always be those who appreciate these cars and they will keep the faith and the" faithful" alive. The organization I really appreciate. The wisdom and information coming from this org is a wonderful well spring. I have to believe that the latter is the life blood. Thanks to everyone who helped me rebuild my 48 LC. Glenn Lorei b6vt
  15. Abe, Please give a running account of your success on this engine. I am in a like situation. Vacuum tested out between16 and 17 inchces.. I haven't taken a compression reading. It has been so dreadfully hot here in KC. The garage is an oven. So I am waiting on cooler weather. This engine is totally gutless. So I am looking for a solution. I have a spare engine waiting to be rebuilt. The block, crank, and cam are done. I need a new set of pistons as the block has been bored 20 over. I will wait on your news of progress. Glenn Lorei b6vt
  16. Peecher, I took the reading right off the connecterat the intake manifold. Sounds like I may have further problems. Glenn Lorei b6vt
  17. Abe, Can we get a parts list to do this exchange? I have had a terrible experience with my '48LC I had to fly thru a 4way stop. The brakes were totally without effect--setting all winter. Another long range project. Glenn Lorei b6vt
  18. I have been having a problem with my 48 LC. No power. I took a reading to day with a Vacuum guage and at an idle it read between 14" and 15 " of Vacuum at an idle. This was a steady reading. What should it be? Glenn Lorei b6vt
  19. Yesterday, I tore into the ignition system. I took the spark plug wire loom off the engine and removed the distributor. I found one of the spring loaded carbon connectors that connects with one of the rotor bands at the bottom of the distributor. That engine was running with only half of the distrbutor working--no wonder there was no power. I went to a generator, alternator, starter repair shop to see if he had anything that was near what I needed and wonder of wonders there it was in one of his dust covered parts bins..best yet he was happy to give it to me!!!, No charge. I thanked him profusely and I will install it tonight. Another find---I went to an auto parts place O'Reilly's. Here in KC. These parts stores are easy to find in the midwest. I purchased new spark plug wires, one six cylinder set for a )Toyota 72-76 L6 and a set for a 74-76 Dodge v8 The make on the wire set is OMNI/Spark and best yet---the price for both sets was $34.00. (another better yet-- -they were made in the good old USA) Glenn lorei b6vt:)
  20. I fired up my 48 LC today and thought I would drive it to show a neighbor friend of mine. I thought I would not be able to pull away from the driveway. The engine is running rough. I have overhauled the carb, Sent the distributer to have set and overhauled. It has a new fuel pump. I cleaned and reset the spark plug gaps. The only thing left is to replace the spark plug wires. Give me your thoughts, anyone. Thanks Glenn Lorei b6vt
  21. To Those interested: I have found a foundry in California that is producing the heads. finned or stock in aluminum alloy plus the the intake manifold. In three carb set up--no two carb. He suggested that the center position is blocked off if a person only wants a two carb system. The intake is a common plenum system so you don't need an equalizing system. The price on the intake manifold by itself is $900 plus. I Found this in the latest edition of the Hemmings magazine. I have personally found a dual intake manifold, dual plenum set up .It has to be modified with a equalizer. There is a fellow who has been referred to me to do this. The heads are still an item on my wish list but 3k+ is still too much for my budget. For those who would like to pursue this please contact me personally at glorei@kc.rr.com. Glenn Lorei b6vt
  22. Could you please post a picture. My father had one of these that I abused when I was in high school. nothing could beat it in the flying mile. Glenn Lorei b6vt
  23. Installed the radio in my 1948 LC to day. I plugged everything in it's proper place and discovered I needed a fuse. Does any one know the amperage on this fuse as it is not mentioned on my wiring diagram. Thanks in advance. Glenn Lorei b6vt
  24. Abe, I called and left a message for this fellow. He called me last night--I saw the same ad. He seemed a really nice guy and I told him what we were interested in doing. Do you think we can get 20 interested buyers?? If you do, that would be a great bargaining tool. Glenn Lorei b6vt
  25. Abe, I didn't want to change the whole system over to 12V. I only have added the 12 v system for the starter. I placed the 12 volt battery and case in the trunk and run the battery cable forward along the rocker panel and up into the engine compartment to a solenoid and then to the starter. The starter button I have placed under the dash in a hidden spot. Today I have purchased a fuse to place in the cable to the soleniod to protect that circuit in case of a "trauma" to that cable. I have been assured that as long as I do not engage both starter circuits at the same time no harm can come to the other circuitry . The 12 v system is not connected to any other circuit thus zero gain. I PRAY that the above is accurate. I have added a single wire 6v alternator and it works just fine. Glenn Lorei b6vt
