Your first antique/classic car purchase
Harold replied to Jack Bennett's topic in General Discussion
Back in the early '70's one of my classmates in college was Powell Crosley V. He was very surprised that I recognized his name. He said the only Crosley product he ever saw was a table radio. -

pre-war Plymouth master key set?
Harold replied to Gen III Antique Auto's topic in General Discussion
A good locksmith can make a key by 'impressioning' the lock. There are also tools that can determine key cut depths by reading the lock cylinder. Check with a local shop that has been around for a while. -
Falling in the garage alarm (It's hell to get old)

If the house and shop are close to one another you can use a wireless baby monitor for emergencies. Primitive but useful. -
Thanks for the photos. Was the green '52 Plymouth for sale and if so do you recall the price?

I was browsing eBay and found they have a 'standard envelope' program for small, lightweight objects that have maximum dimensions of 6-1/8" X 11.5", 1/4" thickness, maximum of 3 ounces weight, and insurance up to $20.00. The prices seem reasonable compared to First Class or Ground Advantage. I'm thinking this program might be suitable for small items of automobilia like owner's manuals, brochures, and postcards. Has anyone here used this service or heard any feedback about it? Here's a link to the page on the USPS website: eBay standard envelope | eBay Any ideas appreciated! Thanks, Harold

Harold replied to Crusty Trucker's topic in General Discussion
If the rent for the cars wasn't paid, the building owner can file a mechanic's lien and receive titles in his name. -

Dealer Key Chains
Harold replied to Tom99's topic in Memorabilia, Toys, Art, Signs, Clothing and Printed Material
I worked for Murray Oldsmobile in Perth Amboy for a while in the early 1980's. Never saw one of their keychains until this thread. -
What's to prevent a qualified participant in the clearing house (like a used car dealer, for example) from 'buying' a car with skimpy or nonexistent paperwork and then putting it through for a WVA title? And then 'selling' it to an end user with the new WVA title? It would be pretty much the same situation as the present one.

Why has the search function on ebay become totally useless?
Harold replied to neil morse's topic in General Discussion
I don't add extra-charge listing upgrades because the stuff I list is pretty cheap to begin with and I'm not anxious to add to my expenses. I wonder how deeply my ads are buried in search results because of this.
