  1. Gentlemen! Like I can't tell you about the laws and regulations in your country, I do not belive you can tell me about the same in my country. If you don't have the proper VIN you simply cannot have the car registered, PERIOD ! If I place another VIN on my car, that will be counted as fraud, I will get a big fine for it, and even go to jail. I am the kind of person that don't like fraud, done by myself or anyone else. I just like to do things right. Rusty_OToole, seems to me your block is a little TOO rusty, or perhaps you are a bit short of water on your radiator, you're boiling over for nothing. Please take into consideration that this is an international site, and not everyone can express themselfs perfect in a language that is not their own. Even if they can, ways of exspressing oneself may differ from one country and culture to the other. Peculiar tho', I meet a lot of U.S. people with your harsh attitude especially on U.S. website's discussion forums. If I hurt your pride as much as your post seem to show, I am HONESTLY very sorry (for whatever it is worth), and ask for your forgiveness. I NEVER intend to hurt anybodys pride or other feelings. If you go back to the top, to my original post, all I ask for is as follows, quote: "I just wonder if any of you know if anybody make/reproduce the VIN plates on Chrysler product automobiles". End of quote. It's actually only 2 simple answeres to this question: YES or NO. If YES, I would of course appreciate the name and address of the person or company that do this. That's all I ask for. I know how most of these plates look, and where most of the plates are located, from mid 1950's to approx. 1980 so I don't need any guesses from people on this matter. I only ask for the info. I need, and when I need it, so you guys can use your time and energy to help others with their problems. I know a few things about Chrysler product automobiles too, even if I live in a-far-away-country like Norway, but I never get to smart to learn from you guys. But please don't use your time and energy to tell me something I allready know very well, or something you may not know so well. ted sweet states very clearly in his post, quote: "its illegal to make a vin tag" End of quote. Of course i could ask help from "the leading expert on Chrysler serial numbers, fender tags and build sheets". But I doubt that a serious person like Galen Govier would do something as illegal as to make/reproduce VIN plates. Because, if you read my original post, that I just mentioned, THAT is actually the only thing I am sking for here. To you, Pontiac59, I will get in touch with you conserning the 2 hidden places. THANK YOU ! Sincerely, Einar in Norway.
  2. Thanks guys, for trying to help. Of course I know the difference between a FENDER TAG and a VIN plate. Don't mean to be rude, but it don't seem like some others here know the difference. What do I need ? Well, I wrote the VIN plate, didn't I ? Of course I don't know the laws and regulations about these things in the U.S.A., but here in Norway you cannot have a car registered at the DMV if the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) is missing. Just the fender tag is not enough. From 1960 and on, (exept for the IMPERIAL) Chrysler Corporation made only "UNI-BODY" (unitized body contruction) automobiles. Some with a "SEMI-FRAME" and some not even with that much of a frame. And as far as I know, the only place to find the VIN is on that plate I am writing about here. At least on those cars with the semi-frame. As for the '59 DeSoto (Plymouth), the VIN was stamped somewhere on the frame, but when the frame gets old, with some rust, and you sandblast it, this number on this frame is mostly, or even totally erased. I am very sorry to hear that it is illegal to reproduce the VIN plate of an automobile !!!? It's hard to understand that it is illegal to reproduce a VIN plate, when it is legal to use the title from one car to the other. I see people advertise buy/sell titles for different cars all the time. I would belive it would be a lot easyer to steal a car and just change the title, than it would be to change the VIN plate. There are numbers on the VIN plate that have to match the numbers on the Fender Tag. If they don't it would be very easy to read from these numbers that this car would be a fake. I even have addresses to companies that sells you new titles if you have lost your title, or even if you have no title at all. And it is all legal. Well guys, I can only say that my head is getting pretty mixed up here. Sincerely, Einar in Norway.
  3. Hi guys, finally back again. I just wonder if any of you know if anybody make/reproduce the VIN plates on Chrysler product automobiles? My 1960 DeSoto VIN plate have been stolen, any my 1959 DeSoto Diplomat (all '59 Plymouth Fury exept front clip) have been lost. If nobody makes these plates yet, I belive this would be a good business for someone that would invest in the right tools, since these plates comes off very easily because of the very tiny little spotwelds that hold them in place on the left (driver's side) front door pillar. Very appreciative for any help. Thanks, Einar in Norway.
  4. Thanks a lot again Baron. This really looks good. I'm sure my friend will be happy with this. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Take Care, Einar.
  5. THANK YOU very much guys <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />!!1 I sure appreciate your help VERY MUCH ! What would I do without your help and this discussion forum ? Not much I'm afraid. I don't care much for all this modern stuff like computers and cell-phones, but I do have to admit that the internet is very helpful in finding parts and cars, and of course valuable info. like you guys give me. As for making my own wireing, I did it ALL, (myself) on my '60 DeSoto approx 30 years ago, but this is my friend's car, and I just don't have the time to do it for him, with all the projects I have myself. Would you have an e-mail address or a phone no. for that Rhode Island business ? You know, living here in Norway, Europe, I can't just fly over to find out <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Thanks so much again, and if there is something (anything) I can do in return, don't hesistate to let me know. Hope you all have a nice spring, and getting your iron out of barns and garages and whatever, and ready for cruising. All the best from Einar in Norway.
  6. Does anyone make and sell original el. wire set for 1948 CHRYSLER New Yorker ? Mostly need engine compartment and wires to the fluid srive controls. The stuff is for my friend (WPC Member). By the way, we still havent solved the problems with no kickdown shift from 4th to 3rd and jumping 3rd when shifting to 4th in Hi. Einar in Norway.
  7. Sandy Grossich and her father are loosing their junkyard space. They are selling out an enormous collection of MOPAR cars and parts. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> You can ask for detaled listings and pictures at this e-mail address: grossich@adelphia.net GOOD LUCK, Einar in Norway.
  8. All Chrysler - DeSoto - Dodge - Plymouth 5 bolt 4 1/2 inch bolt circle 14 inch wheels will fit. Even the newer Aspen and Volare. Also a lot of Ford wheels will fit. Also some studebaker and Rambler/AMC. A lot to choose from <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> depending on how wide and how original you want your wheels to be. Einar in Norway.
  9. The 300 letter series and the 300 Sports series are not using the same wheelcovers. The 1962 300 Sports Series are using the same wheelcovers as all the other 1962 Chrysler New Yorker and Newport series. Einar. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
  10. '61 Plymouth parts? YES, THANK YOU!!! <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I sure need some too. Actually I need the whole complete fron clip. FENDERS and HOOD most important. Grille and bumper can come later. Scarce? I don't think they are any more scarce than any other early '60s Chrysler cars. But people seem to "sit" on them. And those that got some parts for sale don't want the trouble of shipping them. Not even to help a fellow car enthusiast. How many of these cars do you think have roted and rusted away because the owner is going to restore them "some day". Or just "waiting" until they think they can get the car's weight in gold. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> This again gentlemen, causes so many cars sitting around waiting to be finished. And again falling apart (both restorations and dreams) before they ever get back on the road. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> Some times, when I loose garage/storingspace, I sell it off right away for my own cost. It's so much better than letting it just turn to rusty junk. Einar.
  11. Hey Guys. Isn't it fun to go on trips with your old car ? Long ones and short ones, just a Sunday trip or to a meet far away. Or just the "ritual" sunday drive. But how long, and how many of us can afford it with these neverending increases in the gas price. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> And if you just knew how much we pay here in Norway, guys. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> I can say for sure, that life would not be the same if I cant go for a ride in my old antique car. And to me, the sound from the V8 is sweeter than any music. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> Kepp on cruising, Einar.
  12. Thank you very much guys, for the help so far. Starting from standstill with the lever in high, it starts moving in 4th gear, as well as going right into 4th when moving the lever from low to high while driving. The problem suddently "popped up" while driving on a Sunday drive last fall. It all worked perfect when his car arrived from the U.S. a few months earlier. I was a sailor for many years myself, and shipped alot of cars on the ships I was. Including some of my own, and I know what salt water or just salt humidety can do to a cars electrical stuff. Once in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, riding off a pretty rough storm, we suddent got really shocked <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />up on the bridge in the middle of the nigh. A whole lot of the cars that we had on deck (deck cargo) started blinking their lighs and sounding their horns. We had to go down on deck and disconnect all the batterycables in the storm in the middle of the night. Even fire could have started inside the cars. After that we never put cars up on deck without disconnecting the batterycables BEFORE leaving port. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> Personally I think it may be something with the electrical. I told him to check out evrything from cables and relays from carb to trans. Thanks again for being so helpful. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Einar.
  13. Here I am again. Hope you don't get bored. I am still needing the front and rear doors both sides for one of my projects. But I will consentrate on the REAR DOORS for the moment so I at least can get started. The rear doors I need fits from the following cars: 1962 CHRYSLER 4 door hard-top and 4 door hard-top station wagon. 1960 - 1961 DODGE Polara/Matador 4 door hard-top and 4 door hard-top station wagon. 1962 - 1964 DODGE 880 4 dor hard-top and 4 door hard-top station wagon. Will accept small dents and surface rust, but no rust trough. Inside door panels and handles not needed, but must have good glass and mechanism, manual or power. I sure hope I could find this now, because my project is not geting any further. Thanks, Einar.
  14. Hello again. I guess questions and answeres about Fluid Drive problems have been posted here before, but I don't know where or how to find it, so I'll just try this. I'm trying to help out another member of the WPC Club here in Norway. Puting the gear in LOW 1st, it shifts up to 2nd just fine. Puting the handle in HIGH, it jumps 3rd and shifts directly into 4th gear. Also when puting the gas pedal down to try the kickdown, it will not shift down to 3rd. Oh, by the way, the car is actually a LATE 1948 model of which some were produced in January of '49. Anyone of you good old (or young) Chrysler guys out there have an idea of what may be the problem. We would be very greatful for help. Thanks, Einar.
  15. Hi everybody! My friend Oddvar Hansen, WPC Club member no. 6500, is interested in buying a 1934 Chrysler Airflow, good to exelent condition. Absolutely NO project car. Will pay right price for right car, but no fantacy prices please. Please send info and price to mr. Hansen at e-mail address: sfrasim@online.no or contact me for his address and/or phone number. Thanks, Einar.
  16. brian, I wrote that I would't be totally honest if I called all Japanese cars junk, OK? Now you Americans don't drive your cars for as long as people do in most other countries. Even tho' Norway is one of the richest contries in the world, we still drive around in the oldest cars in the western world. (the contry's wealth goes to stock speculants and corrupt and disabel politicians). After 4 - 5 years, we see a lot of Japanese cars rust to pieces. Among other things. Most probabely because we keep our cars a lot longer here. When it comes to when Chrysler Corp. quitt making good cars, I'd like to extend your "deadline" by a decade and a half. I think they made some very good cars up until early 1970. Like '72-'73. My '73 DODGE Dart Swinger is a good car. Even my 76' (last year production) PLYMOUTH Valiant is a good car. The '69 DODGE Charger R/T with a 440 cid magnum and 727 Torqueflite auto trans was a FANTASIC car. Not to talk about my +5000 pounds 1966 IMPERIAL Crown coupe convertible. So I cannot agree with you on the '57 "deadline". But then again, this is just my opinion. Einar.
  17. I am really disappointed by so few of you whaching anything from outside your own country. Don't you have any interest of what's going on elsewher in the world. (exept for the war in Iraq of course) But this IS happening in your own country, just by other people than yourself doing it. Now you can see a lot of pictures from the trip all the way down Route 66. It's worth taking a look. A large ammount of Americans met up along the way. Einar in Norway.
  18. mopar380 Hello Ian. I'll just take the advantage of saying TANK YOU VERY MUCH for helping me back on the site. As you can see, it now works for me. I rally appreciate your help, now as before. I feel so stupid about this computerstuff. Never seem to learn it properly. Not like old cars. So I am very happy to be back again. Well folks, lot of us guys here in Norway and Sweden wonder why you buy any foreign cars at all. YOU, the Americans (with some plants in Canada) ALLWAYS made the best automobiles in the whole world. WHY DO YOU BUY FOREIGN JUNK AT ALL? From the beginning, most of the Japanese cars was made from smelted down junked American cars anyway!!! (well, guess I'm not totally honest when I say all Japanese cars is junk but......) Anyway, my pont is, if you all go back to buying American cars again, there will be more mony to the companies for research and development of better cars, and of course a lot of new jobs too. I don't mean to be rude, but I have to be honest and say: You have nobody to blame but yourself, for whatever is happening in the American car industry. Is it really not possible to find some investors out there (in the U.S.) that is willing to invest in getting Chrysler back on their feet again??? It's really hard for me to understand. Over here, we were ALL against it, when Daimler Benz bought Chrysler. SUPPORT YOUR DOMESTIC AUTOMOBILE COMPANIES!!!!! GOOD LUCK, Einar in Norway.
  19. THANK YOU VERY MUCH progoofoff, for the Bumper Boyz address. Very much appreciated. Einar in NORWAY, always a <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
  20. Trying to help a friend of mine to find the following parts for a 1959 DODGE Custom Royal Lancer D 500 2 door Hard-Top: vent window FRAME with good chrome (with or without glass): Custom Royal gold SCRIPT on front of rear fender (close to the door): 500 EMBLEM on gas filler door: FRONT BUMPER (lower part). All parts NOS or exelent used. Can anybody give me e-mail address and /or home page for The BUMPER BOYZ bumper rechroming busyness PLEASE ? Would appreciate any help. THANK YOU! Einar, always a <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
  21. Thanks Ian. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> This seem to be a very interesting conversion. For many of us I guess. By the way, I tryed to mail you directly a while ago conserning another question, but couldn't get through. Remember sending me the address to the Chrysler Historical Archives? I was just wondering if they also have an e-mail address, and not just a regular mail address, phone and FAX number. My FAX only works on stuff coming in, and not what I try to send out, so an e-mail addres would have been very convinient. If you don't care to inform here, you can mail it directly to my e-mail address. Thanks again Ian, and take care. Best Regards from Einar, always a <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
  22. Hello again Ian. Will these disk brake conversions still accept the 14 inch wheels? As far as I can remember, your 300 Sports have the 413 cid engine and 15 inch wheels. The regular 383 car have the 14 inch wheels you know. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> Thanks, Einar.
  23. Hi Guys'n Gals! The Sweden Region of the WPC Club have a new web-site/home page. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" /> Since there have been very little activety in the past <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> I presume most of you don't know the new address, which is as follows: www.chryslerklubben.org You are all welcome to visit, make comments and place ads. Just note that this site is still "under Construction" so things might work kind of slow. Best Regards from Einar, always a <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />. 25. Hi guys. I'm really sorryfor not getting back to you sooner But I have been waiting for my friend to get the trans out of his car. They wanted a lot of info about the car, the engine and rear axle and all at the Jasper place in order to just give me a price. But they seem to be very profesional. They even explained the difference between rebuilding and remanufacturing. They did remanufaturing, which, according to themselfs, was much better than rebuilding. They test all transmissions before shipping them off to the customer and had a really grate warraty. About the guy in Holland, I am sure he is doing a great job too, so when my friend finally get around to get the trans out of his car we will compare prises and warranties. Thank you very much for helping out. Einar, always a
