  1. Hello All, I would like to contact an exhaust vendor that vends at Hershey, to save on shipping. I have last years program and under exhaust systems and only the name of the person that the space under, but no company name that I could contact to place an order,. Any Help? It for a 1950 Chevy DeLuxe
  2. I did not take any, I was never one to take many pictures of my own cars, figured I could look at them any time I wanted,,,, I think my friends Steve and Sue (White 65 Biscayne) their son took a few see if I can get them from him
  3. John I remember going to Westbury with my father in the 70's and he was to embarrassed to park his nice driver Model A on the show field and paid to park it in grass. Looking back at it that Model A Coupe was better then 75% of the cars that they hand a first trophy to. I seldom participate at anything local when I am Long Island now, unless some of my friends/club members are going then I will bring my car and hang out for awhile., and split around 12. A large majority of the cars are new cars and cheaply modified, and poorly executed cars. I just want to know where the $25 went and who collected it? I know I will get suckered into going again, I will try to give them a check and see what happens..
  4. Among many other things, Floridians are not known to be good tippers either
  5. No, it was a new one, with some bolt on chrome BS, the only rules were to take in as much money as possible at $25 a car by the promoter. There had to be over 2000 cars (my estimate). It was run by the town of Oyster Bay which seem to have a yearly donation to the state prisons NYS of "officials." It is one of the if not the highest taxed Towns in Nassau County. It was down on the ocean and it was a perfect day on Long Island. The only reason i went is because a few of my Friends from the local Chevy Club were going and invited me, compounded by the good weather. I left around 12:30. I am in the process of trying to sell one of my cars and figured it would be great exposure. I figured wrong, I only got to meet the bottom feeders from Craigslist in person.
  6. Does the NADA used car dealers book have a a line "Add 10% for plastic trophies won"?
  7. It would appear that way, but Nassau County NY on Long Island is one of the higher income as well as taxed places in the country, the car shows just seem to attract a lot of "slobs" (I am sure Walt G and 46 Woodie can confirm this) No Ronnie at this show they actually had a individual judged class for the new Challanger's, Mustang's, Camaro's and Corvette's. I guess at $25 day of show the promoter found what they customers wanted to pack the in. There was close to 2,000 cars there. From what I had seen and heard it has been the norm for a few years now to judge these cars at these events.
  8. The Country of Israel did not exist when that logo was used
  9. I SECOND THAT! There is nothing wrong with having a nice car and nothing wrong with getting a trophy, but to buy a new car and do it is rather vain, The real question I have is who actually handed that new car a trophy?
  10. I am pretty sure this was all local car show trophies
  11. I was at a local show today on Long Island with some friends and had seen this car and all of it's trophy's on display, at first I thought it was a joke, but it was not!
  12. I would like to put the 'used car lot" comment that you made in perspective. Model A Fords were 40 year old cars in the 70's, newer then most of the cars in the photos I posted. In 1975 a 1920 vehicle was 55 years old, so the 55 year old and older cars are used cars now but were not then? I really would like to post the rest of the photos I had taken and not have a debate that will will detract from people enjoying it. I did not even post a photo of the car we were invited to bring, which was the fist place car in the class and a runner up for Best of Show Post War. I took photos of what I had seen, and posted them for those who might enjoy looking at them. Also next year one of the Marque Classes will be Model A Fords, so they must have found a few people who were interested.
  13. Don't forget about the differential, they tend to go on those 1500 series trucks anywhere after 150K miles on up
  14. On those high end vehicles you mention the owners will just register them in a different state other then California where the rules don't apply (yet) On the Bill of Sale "condition as is" should eliminate the sellers responsibility
  15. Hello Dave, Same for me, first time but I will be back for sure! Unfortunately we were not able to make it to the Saturday show. Did you bring a vehicle? I am running out of photos that I took so if have some please post them. The last one I posted of the Buick I posted was a 'teaser'
  16. Thanks Bob, I was a little hesitant any more photos after 3makes comment below,
  17. Hey Ted, Sorry to hear about that, I know I hate it when something like that is in my backyard and I found out after the fact. I know it was advertised in the Hemming's Publications, and I knew it existed from reading articles over the years. This was the 13th one that they held. I was invited by someone from Hemming's in February, how they got in touch with me I have no idea, but one of my cars was in one of the marque class's they were honoring. I lived in NY State for my entire life and had never been north of the Rip Van Winkle Bridge. Growing up in The Bronx, Yonkers was considered upstate. Hopefully you get to check it out next year More photos later today
  18. This is a great question, all of us have different needs and desires. Financial factors, physical issues, social needs, and family issues all play a very different part in each one of our lives. I have a houses in Florida and in NY, and from my observation the hobby in Florida pretty much hibernates from June through mid October. Snowbirds head north and It is not just hot, it is expletive hot! Compounded by massive afternoon pop up thunderstorms. Activity is limited at that time of year, but not non-existent as it is in the freezing cold salt brine covered roads of the north in the winter. On Long Island there are 4 or 5 AACA regions and I don't belong to any of them because they don't offer me the social connection I am looking for, same for the region close to my home in Florida. The region that is close but it was just not for me. I did belong to a region in Florida that unfortunately folded, and that was about 100 miles away, but I found a connection with those people and well worth the ride. Just a little tough t get someone to by to help me bleed brakes. I have a good friend from Long Island (50's Mopar Collector) who used come down to visit me when I was down in Florida and he liked it so much he bought a house in my development two blocks away, but was complaining to me that he has not met anyone in the hobby, but he has not made any attempts to either. Good luck!
  19. Ed, I want to say the same, just can't get my wife leave the Vampire State, oops I meant Empire.. I do have to admit that these weeks in September and October are fantastic in lower NY , if the weather was like this year around it would be almost worth the taxes and pot holes,,,but it is not
