  3. I need to replace a bent wheel on my '65 Skylark. It looks like someone put on some later rally wheels before I bought it 20 years ago. I'm looking for the following: 5x4 3/4 bolt pattern 991 Rim Code WX and JJ should be the other codes on the wheel I'd like a good driver wheel, with no rust on the outside and decent paint in the coves. Obviously it should be straight. Thanks if you can help! Aaron
  4. Absolutely. I've been using Remflex on my '53 Buick with a 263 and they last years longer than anything else I've tried.
  5. I just use high temp wheel bearing grease...no need to use anything else, IMO.

  7. I don't believe anyone makes a reproduction center link, Robert. I just had mine rebuilt at Rare Parts in California this past winter. It cost about $350 and took about 7-8 weeks. From my research, that was about the only option. I'll leave their link below. https://www.rareparts.com/
  8. If it were me, I'd set aside a day to clean and grease the wheel bearings, check the brakes, and set up the wheel bearings exactly as shown in the manual. If something doesn't seem right, it probably isn't. Have new seals on hand before you start the job. Oops! I just noticed that John said the same thing up top. Carry on. 😋
  9. What a beauty! I really don't like woodworking, so it wouldn't be something I'd want personally, but for someone who enjoys that kind of thing, where would you find another one?

  11. These have aged well, in my opinion; I like them more now than I ever did. My parents bought an '83 LeSabre coupe in this color new when I was six, and it was a lemon that finally had a replacement engine installed two years later. The years, however, have mellowed any hard feelings I might have had about it by proxy through my parents, and honestly, I think the Electra looks even better. My cousin eventually ended up with the LeSabre and attempted to use it as an off-road vehicle at some point. Things didn't go as planned and he burned it to the ground, so one more gone, I guess.
  12. I'm going to guess the dealer ordered it, because it was built about two months before it was sold (I have most of the original documents). It's certainly a low-option car, and the options it has are a little weird. It was sold in North Carolina, but it has no air conditioning and a black custom interior (788), which is why it has power windows. It has a Wonderbar radio with a manual antenna (only about 420 were built with that one). Aside from tinted windows and whitewalls, that's about it. All the better for me - I don't like a bunch of options on old cars.

  14. Thanks Jim, Does "Sold Order" mean that the dealer or customer ordered it? In other words, most cars would be a Sold Order?
  15. The Sloan Museum archivists sent me a bunch of cool documents on my Buicks last week, so I'm having fun with that. My car came with a "Glove Box Copy" which shows the original options and date of production. Anyone have any idea what this "Star 6" code is supposed to be? That's the only one I can't find on the order form.
  16. Pressure should be 4.5-6.5 psi according to my Motor Manual (going from memory, within a quarter pound or so).
  17. They're regular threads, but the bolt is very tight, over 200 lb./ft.
  18. I looked through my '60-'64 Ford parts books and couldn't find it. I kind of wondered if it was a switch for a Thunderbird or Continental convertible top, but no dice in the book. Of course, being a C5 part it could have been from a '65 or '66 model, which wouldn't have been shown. EDIT: The prefix being "A" shows that it's for a full-size Ford. My guess was that it was some kind of a station wagon tailgate switch, but I still can't find it. It's been a fun challenge though.
  19. I drove the '53 in our local car cruise for charity, and spent a day wheeling out the old paint on the Riviera and giving it a coat of wax. It will never be more than an old paint job, but it's good at 10 feet.

  21. I think the LM Corvair four-door is among the best-looking four-doors of the postwar period, if not THE best looking. The four speed just makes it that much better.
