  1. Hello Stephanie, So sorry to hear of your loss. I would be happy to have you come and check out my TC. Just let me know when you would like to come and I will be here. Best regards, Fred
  2. Hello Jerry & DPaul, Thanks to both of you for your feedback. I totally agree with your comments and in my particular case, it is my guess that an accumulator would put my car back in perfect operating condition once again - that is of course until the next issue crops up. The dearlerships just do not have the people with the knowledge and/or inclination to work on these cars anymore, and if so, they are few and far between. In any case, I have simply decided to get rid of my TC one way or another and have already purchased a new car. The new ABS pump alone is listed at $ 1218.33 at Chrysler, although I was able to get it for $ 850.00 thanks to one of the parts guys at the dealership that I have known since purchasing the car in 1989. Obvously no big gain on my part since they didn't replace the accumulator saying it isn't available (and it is) and so the car remains without hydraulic assist. I did check initially with both Hemi and Larry Carlson but given the distance between them am me in Maryland, both declined my offer to put my old friend in their hands. I really prefer to get my TC in the hands of those with an interest in the car, even if only to part it out, at least in that way the many parts available on the car would be made availbable to those who need/want them. I haven't heard back from Car Chick yet but suspect that if the distance between she and I is very great, she will most likely decline my offer as well. Thanks again for your feedback. Best regards, Fred
  3. Hi Stephanie, Thanks for your reply, just want to confirm that I sent you my address, pictures of the car and additional information on the car earlier this morning. If you don't get the e-mail, let me know. I am heading out to do my weekly grocery shopping right now but will check back later. Best regards, Fred
  4. Anyone interested in acquiring my 89 2.2L SOHC TC for $ 1,500.00? If not, I am going to donate it to charity. I am seeking to sell or donate to charity because it developed an ABS problem recently and after replacing the ABS pump the chrysler dealership where it was being repaired returned it to me, still with no Hydraulic assist for the brakes, at a cost of $ 1,550.00 with the following statement: ?Replaced the ABS Pump, now running continuously. Needs accumulator and also REC Controller and proportioning valve, which are not available through Chrysler. Installed inline 30 amp fuse (on right fender well) to keep pump from running.? The car has 204+ miles on it but I have been the only owner since 1989 and have taken very good care of the car dispite a few problems with it over the years. It is a Royal Carbernet with Bordeau interior. The engine and transmission are in excellent condition, getting 22 mpg to and from work on the freeway. To be roadworthy at this point though, I believe it needs an accumulator and possibly the "rec controller" (whatever that is) and I am simply not going to put anymore money into my old fiend. Even though someone might want to restore and make it fully roadworthy once again, I would see it as a TC to be parted out and I just don't have the tools or facilities to do that. I have pictures and a detail document describing the disposition of my TC if anyone is interested. If interested indicate so on this board and provide an e-mail address or send me an e-mail at FHoffert@msn.com and I will forward the pic's and dispostion document. Best regards, Fred Hoffert
  5. Hello Lou, Just want to thank you also for your willingness to take the time to respond and help out. Both you and Car Chick have been very helpful and as you will note from my reply to Car Chick, I have no recollection of ever seing that relay box. I will definitely check it out once I get my car back. Should be about mid next week. Just as an FYI, with the $ 850.00 I will pay for the pump, they are charging me 6 hours at $ 98.00 ($ 588.00) for labor, so total damages will be around $ 1,438.00, plus tax. Thanks again, & best regards, Fred
  6. Car Chick, I have to agree with Lou, you are pretty fantastic. Thanks so much for the pic's, they are great! And, after having my 89 TC for 17 years, I swear I do not remember seing that relay box. I am so anxious now to get my head under the hood again and see how/why I missed that. I am a bit of a do-it-yourself guy so over the years have been in there quite a bit for one thing or another. I did hear from the dealership today and they did confirm the ABS pump had gone bad, and in the moment, all things considered, I decided to go ahead and get a new replacement. My parts contact has assured me he will price the part at $ 850.00 vs. the list price of $ 1218.33. As is typical, when the service guy called me to let me know the status of my situation he quoted a pump price of $ 1,689.00 - I quickly informed him I had already confirmed the list price of that part at two separate dealerships and it wasn't $ 1,689.00. He played ignorant, said he went and talked to parts and they agreed to the price I had been quoted previusly. Anyhow, thank you again for your help! Best regards, Fred Hoffert
  7. Yes, I am looking for the Teves ABS Brake Pump. In response to Lou's reply, in 2000 I did have the original accumlator give out causing the resivoir to overflow and the pump to subsequently burn up also. It has been 7 years so it may be this accumlator that lead to the pump failor. In any case, I took my car into the dealership this morning and they have not gotten back to me yet to confirm what they find. Hemi Anderson had mentioned in one of our newletters that the pump failure could be a funtion of the fuse in a retangular plastic fuse box on the right side firewall, BUT, I was not able to find that so I will have to rely oh what the dealership comes back to me with. I should know tomorrow, so will watch this discussion board closely while at work tomorrow. You help is much appreciated! Thanks Lou, Thanks Car Chick! Best regards, Fred Hoffert
  8. Hello, Does anyone have a TC brake pump to sell? If so, I would be interested in getting a price. Mine just went out. Thanks, Fred Hoffert
  9. I have an '89 2.2L, 8 valve, with Automatic, all stock, that now has 190+K miles on it and is getting me 23mpg this winter with the hardtop on. The miles are predominantly freeway commute in the state of Maryland,at average speeds of probably 56-65 mph. In the 16 years I have had the car, I have never gotten better than 24mpg but until gas prices started going up so much recently, I had always run premium. This coming summer will be the first test of what my gas mileage will be running middle of the road regular with the hard top off. Fred
  10. Hello Alan, Not sure if you clicked on the attachment to my last reply, but with you support I am pretty confident the PN 433883 is what I need. Went to my local "Advanced Auto Parts" dealer the other day and had them look it up and it was listed under the 1989 Dodge Daytona Shelby 2.2L Turbo. Also listed same PN under 1989 LeBaron 2.2L Turbo. I will let the club know for shure once I purchase ($111.00) it and do the install. Thanks again, Fred
  11. Do you have the muffler for sale and if so, how many miles are on it? Thanks, Fred
  12. Alan, I don't see my first reply to you so must have failed to do something right. Anyhow, thanks for your help. In looking on the net for 89 Daytona radiatiors, I find one that with Part # 433883 that looks most like the one in my TC. Is this the one I can use to replace my OEM radiator, PN # 4401022? Thanks, Fred
  13. I need to replace my muffler and Radiator and am looking for part numbers for aftermarket replacement options. I have read in our news letters that several members have been successful in getting replacement mufflers and have had the twin pipe extensions welded on successfully. I have also heard that a 1989 Dodge Daytona radiator will work as a replacement for our OEM TC radiators - is that true?
