  1. I looked at the pics and the one of the truck in the background doesn't have a NYS inspection sticker or reg sticker on it. None on either of the old cars. Kind of gives me the scam feeling. I know it's a merc and the price isn't as high as a similar Galaxie, but it kind of feels a tad like a scam to me. Atleast there aren't palm trees in the background. Could be a dealer and everything is being run on dealer plates, but I'm still skeptical. I like it and love the 63 Galaxie. If I was in the market right now I would definitely be looking into it.
  2. It is a 35. Maybe it was sold and registered new in 36. That is the case with my 33 plymouth, titled as a 34. I wish i had kept a copy of the title I got with it, as it had the sale date of may 1934 on it. Must have only been registered 3 times including the time I registered it.
  3. One can hope for a good engine but figure probably tired at best, but figure otherwise that it needs all new brakes, fuel system, possibly even radiator. Then the question of stuck clutch as well. I don't recall if that was mentioned. Chance of rear or tranny being shot are probably pretty slim.
  4. That's funny, seemed all the cars I found I was interested in were on the west coast. Probably just relative to what one was looking for. West coast seemed to be better deals, but shipping always kind of brought it up to East coast pricing. You just didn't get the east coast rust for free. I actually advertised my Brockway in Hemmings. I think it was $100 or so for a print ad with one photo. Then an online ad where you could have more photos. I choked a little at the price, but sucked it up, as i was looking for more the print exposure. I got exactly 2 people that replied and only one seemed mildly interested, the other reply didn't really make any sense. Sold it through a craigslist ad. Hemmings renewal is sitting here on my desk. I even paid extra for the priority mail, but now it seems to come randomly so I'm not sure if the $100 upgrade is worth it.
  5. Worse than those is the green junk yards full of spent green energy tech no one wants to deal with. One complains about automotive grave yards which actually have some useful scrap in them and can be crushed for a profit and guys will even fight over the scrap, no one wants to touch the green waste. Of course we can send it all to Africa where they will "recycle" it in a controlled environment by union members.
  6. From what I have seen, That's a pretty good price.
  7. Though as the needle moves further and further, at some point it may hit a spot where anyone but a few will say, this has gone too far, ad as we are seeing today in many facets of life, how do you go back from too far as each step slowly gets ingrained in society.
  8. 5500-6500 is my guess for realistic resale value accounting for the bad seat covers, rusted rear bumper dent in the roof and peeling clear coat. That's if it's in good mechanical shape with no real needs in that respect. Doesn't look real good under the hood, so I wouldn't be surprised if it has mechanical needs as well.
  9. The ad is no longer available so it must have sold. That was a good price if it's at all as nice as the little photos showed. This is on my bucket list but I really didn't like the color, so that saves me the decision of whether I could live with it.
  10. I inquired but heard nothing back. Via direct message with my own contact info as I think there is that issue with new members and private messages isn't there?
  11. That marker would probably work really well on the small chrome reveals on all the plastic parts on 60's and up cars, especially around the dash components.
  12. I bet that Dodge van is real. Being it has the driver, the reflection of the tracks in the body as well as the snow blowing around. If it's AI, it's high quality along the lines of movie making.
  13. I've never seen spray on chrome that looked at all like that. Might well be worth it, especially on low budget stuff that would get painted otherwise.
  14. Definitely add more photos. Even if it sells in the meantime, so we can drool over what we missed.
  15. Better to look at completed Auctions on Ebay and Hemmings, as well as look around at ads with similar cars for sale, facebook , craigslist etc. You can figure the value of something not super rare, pretty easy with a handful of comps. If the car doesn't linger long on the market thats a good indication of a fair price, If it's been on the market for over a month, then that's a good indication to use that as an overpriced example. Condition of course and even location, figure into the pricing as well.
  16. The greenest car is the one you already own. Carbon Footprint of the EV hot mess, is often hidden in the mix to make it look all rosy for the general public. Lets be realistic in talking about the changeover and the reality of how to make it happen without destroying the economy and possibly the environment in the process.
  17. Ironic too when the sun doesn't shine in the day you need more power to power lights. That seems awful backwards since the source you are relying on requires the same light you are trying to replace with it.
  18. I would make sure your realtor emphasizes the extra space in the listing. When I was looking it was tough to find properties with big garages or barns. Not because they didn't exist, but the realtors failed to promote those aspects. Even when I directly inquired with the realtor what I was looking for, they gave me few options. I scoured the sites with various keyword searches and found several that were never even presented by the realtor. Often I would stumble upon the buildings in the photos.
  19. There is a reason the saying goes pour on the coal when you need more power. Doesn't matter time of day or night, or how the wind blows, it's there to instantly supply the need. When the term pour on the sun or pour on the wind replaces it, then we'll have something to really talk about. I would like to know how NY's power supply did over the week of Christmas. It was foggy for 5 days, (day and night) and I think the wind blew a little bit of one morning and that was it.
  20. I found if the person looking is savvy, short videos work great. One member took some for me of a Hudson truck I was looking at buying and I was able to scroll manually through the video and it really helped me find little things I didn't see in the stills. Which I could then go back and forth over. It didn't stop me from trying to buy it, but it let me see more clearly what I would have been getting. Actually the seller refusing to take a bank wire or a bank check of his choice, is all that killed the deal.
  21. And here we are needing buggy whips. Must be everyone thought that the current workforce wouldn't age out or that a country that is continually growing won't need people to maintain and continue to build the roads, infrastructure or housing. Hard to import completely installed AC, Heat, Electrical system, Roads or Houses that are ready to move into, mush less maintain any of what is already here, or the equipment maintenance and repair to continue building for the influx of people flooding the country.
  22. It really looks like the brake shoe adjusting bolt to me. I think my 30's Mopars had them as the bottom anchor bolt.
  23. Probably didn't help for a long time they were preaching we would be a service economy and not a manufacturing economy and they drove/ pushed/ pulled us in that direction. I said the only way for us to be a sustainable country is to have people that make stuff. Lots of us saw that when they got rid of shop class in schools. Even back in the early 90's shop was a gutted introductory program, you had to go with the dumb kids to Boces to get votec training, which all the guidance counselors frowned upon when you had grades in the mid 90's. Why would you want smart guys learning trades? They are the ones that will be able to run the successful businesses later but will have the hands on experience to know all the details of the business and not just the bookkeeping part they teach you in business school. Looks like that's all coming home to roost. What do us little guys know though. You wonder if some of these thinkers actually know how to balance a check book, because their numbers never seem to add up. If they can't do that we surely shouldn't be letting them plot the course of the future.
  24. Been there. Bought a 53 Buick convertible from a guy but it had the wrong front seat. He said the goats ate the original. looking at the farm it was on, I know it wasn't just a story.
