  1. Leass than 15,000 on Pontiac dealer rebuilt engine/trans 17 years ago. This car was redone 17 years and took a few awards and was featured in a few magazines. It has been driven as a fun car in the summers and although it is a good daily driver, it needs to be cosmetically fixed up to be "show quality" once again. For more pics and info.....drzonker@juno.com
  2. I am looking for the stainless trim strip down the side under the doors on the passenger side. drzonker@juno.com

  6. Thank you for the Buick info. I am going to try to find a 455 with an automatic trans at the wrecking yard. I have a 12 bolt Chevy rear end out behind the barn and will try to get one of those 4 bar/panhard rear end kits. I don't have anything to do this winter..........
  7. Yes, my research shows me that I will be cutting the old 322 mounts off the frame of my '53. I can take a detailed picture of them on the frame before I cut them off if you want it: drzonker@juno.com
  8. I'm back. I am taking out the V8, trans, torque tube, rear end and front drum brakes. For now they will be lawn ornaments...........I am going to use what ever big block core I can find at the wrecking yard to rebuild and put in. UNLESS.... Does anyone know if 425 or 455 blocks fit the front mounts or will I have to build my own? Also, has anyone rebuilt a 264 or 322 with a tall cam, bigger bore, longer rods, etc. or are they not worth messing with to get more power, more power? On my '55 Chevy I was going to throw away the 235 and put in a 350 but one of the old timers (meant with respect) talked me into to some nostalga hot rod parts that made the old inline 6 get rubber in three gears and I am happy the the thing is antique HOTROD. I've heard bad stories about the Dynaflow, however. All opinions are welcome.
  9. I am taking out the 264? 322? out of my 1953 Super along with the trans and torque tube/rear end. I am putting in a 425? OR 455? What ever I can find for a core down at the local wrecking yard. I think I have to cut the old engine/tranny mounts off my frame and build new mounts for the new engine/trans. I will then have the old mounts available to weld on to another frame. I do not know if they will fit your frame......if they do, a twelve pack of Bud and the shipping cost will get them to Illinois..............or you could come and get them (hee heee hee)don't forget the Bud!
  10. I checked it out and it was exactly what I was looking for. Those ideas and mine will equal a cool Buick!!!! Thank you very much. Zonker has left the forum
  11. I guess no one has done this before, it is not worth doing or people are simply to embarrassed to tell about how things went wrong. I will not be able to learn from past mistakes. I will just have to make my own mistakes as I plod along in the dark.......................Maybe I am just posting to the wrong board and I need to look somewhere else.
  12. I have a '53 Buick with the original nailhead. The whole thing needs to be redone. I desire tales of street rod projects on '53 Buicks that have been done successfully and would also like to read horror stories of jobs gone bad..........
