  1. Thanks for y'all's replies. I've been communicating with NCReatta in North Carolina. He's agreed to pay for the tow fees for the car. Glad it's not going to get scrapped and maybe at least the parts will bring new life to other Reattas.
  2. The tow yard owner seems reasonable. I think he understands how rare these cars are and doesn't want it to get scrapped either. He's even willing to tow the car nearby for $50 or so. Too far he'll probably charge more. If you have a tow truck or a means to tow the car that will work too. Unusually this tow lot owner seemed quite nice. I can help load it onto a trailer if you need. So far the cost is $284.87 today, Thursday. That goes up $20.64 each day at midnight.I will hand off the title to whoever wants it and I'll give you the paperwork to transfer the title. Unfortunately I don't have pictures. It was stored at a friend's house and I haven't seen it in some time. The last time I saw it, it was pretty bad inside, and since then someone broke the side window. The tow yard won't let me inside to take pictures so it's going to have to be sight unseen. I know it sucks to not be able to see it. It really will be a parts car, unless one of you guys are keen to give it a really good restoration, which, despite its condition I think would be worth it. It was truly a wonderful car when I had it.
  3. Yeah. Uhaul has a trailer dolly. The Reatta does't run but I think it rolls okay. I'd certainly help you to get it loaded if I can. https://www.uhaul.com/videos/Trailer-Videos/How-To-Load-A-Car-Onto-A-Tow-Dolly/
  4. Yeah. I know. 😕 Kinda figured local would be better. Uhaul I think has something one can rent.
  5. My once beautiful Reatta stopped running a few years ago and I wasn't able to get it fixed. It got flooded and was sitting for some time. The city finally decided to tow it. I hate to see it get scrapped so I'd love to give it to someone local who can just pay to get it out of the tow yard. Honestly it's probably just going to be a parts car but if anyone is interested please message me asap. The clock's ticking. The tow yard is charging by the day. You'll need to pay to have it towed out of the yard too. I live in Houston. I have the title right here in my hand. I just don't want it scrapped. Alex
  6. Whoops. Doggonit. Front. I need the bumper, moldings and the fascia. Wait, is the fascia the part above the bumper? I need that. I guess I need the right side impact absorber too. Right side marker/turn signal light too, if anyone has one. I'm not sure about the left hand side. I'll find out after I take it off.
  7. I need a new bumper assembly for my black '91. Anyone have a parts car that they can pull one off of? Thank you.
  8. Sounds nice Daniel. Did you ever get around to doing it? Have any pics?

  10. What year? I am parting out an '89 and I have one.
  11. Sorry I didn't reply sooner guys. I've got a minor emergency going on here. The short answer for right now is that yes I do have all of the parts. I'll try to get back to you later on today with more details.
  12. I am parting out my '89 Reatta. Red body with a tan interior. Let me know what you need.
  13. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Please explain "DIN" (1 or 1.5). 14. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">See what it says for a '90 Riviera </div></div>Whoops, glad I didn't post that scathing reply I was about to give you <span style="font-weight: bold">F14CRAZY</span>. I thought you were telling me to try a 90 Reatta but you told me to try the <span style="font-weight: bold">Riviera</span>. I don't know why I didn't try that! I must be tired or something. Anyway, none of those JVC units work with the Riviera, neither the 90 nor the 91, according to Crutchfield. In fact, no head units with small screens fit. You have to go with the larger 7" models, which I don't want. Well, maybe. I'd have to be convinced. 'Course Crutchfield as I just found out isn't the end all be all for audio equipment. http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/ has a lot more brands, and many of them have 3.5inch DVD head units. No real search capabilities on that website though. It's going to be hard to find out which is going to work.
  15. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Crutchfield indicated no, they are usually very accurate. </div></div>They are accurate with regards to the 91 Reatta? The 91 Reatta isn't even in their list! In fact, they don't list ANY stereos for even the 90 Reatta and a lot of people have put aftermarket stereos in their Reattas. I'm POSITIVE there are stereos that work with the 91 Reatta. And I'll just bet that these JVC ones will work. I just don't know what could keep them from working. How do you search for 1.5 DIN head units on Crutchfield? Can you even do that?
  16. I'm looking to add an aftermarket stereo system with DVD. I was thinking about doing some modification to put a screen where the existing CD player is and replacing the existing head unit with a nice DVD receiver, then I saw that JVC has some single DIN units with a small screen in them. I thought maybe I could replace the factory 1.5 DIN unit with one of these JVC ones. KD-NX5000 ($700 on ebay - with hard drive and Navigation) KD-AVX33 ($450 on ebay - The newest simple in dash DVD player with integrated 3.5inch screen) KD-AVX11 ($300 on Ebay - The older model in dash DVD player with integrated screen.) KD-ADV38 ($500 on Ebay - A higher end in dash DVD model with integrated screen.) I tried JVC's "Fit Guide" and they point all of their reattas to an 88/89 model. Also as we all know Crutchfield isn't the most reliable source for info about what will fit our cars too. So I'm looking to you guys. Will any of these work in our cars?
  17. Hiya! I need a part for my busted 89. Don't know what it's called, but it is a sort of engine mount. Actually it's more of a tranny mount. Goes on the driver side of the car. I think it's part number g43206. I'm attaching some pictures of the part that broke in a crash and also the part in good shape still on my 91. Anybody with a parts car want to sell this to me? Thanks you very much.
  18. Well where were you 2 days ago to tell me this BEFORE I busted my switch? <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
  19. I just read that 91's had the twilight sentinel standard. http://www.lfpress.com/cgi-bin/publish.cgi?p=107875&x=articles&s=wheels
  20. So I pressed the button to raise my headlights in my 91 and the whole freaking thing just CRUSHED under the delicate pressure of my finger. Do you believe that??? And I wasn't all hulky mad or nothing. Not even a TINGE of green! I tried fixing it to no avail. So needless to say, I will be needing a new light switch for my 91 Reatta. But in the mean time I need my headlights to work and I do happen to have an 89 at my friends house. Should I bother running over to go get it? I know it won't fully install, but can I at least plug it in enough to make my headlights pop up and turn on? Shoot, just turn them on! I can manually make them pop up. Anyone? Anyone? Oh! And if anyone knows where I can get a replacement '91 headlight switch, with twilight sentinal, I'd appreciate that information. Don't know if they made the 91s without the twilight, but mine had it anyway so I'd like that in the switch. Thanks.
  21. For Texas: ftp://ftp.dot.state.tx.us/pub/txdot-info/vtr/salnrmv.pdf It says (if I'm not mistaken) that you can only rebuild a car that was salvaged before September 2003. That sux cause my car (which is repairable) was given a salvage title by (yet another corrupt) insurance company this year. For other states: http://www.ridesafely.com/reconstruction.asp
  22. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Mythbusters have already done this one? Busted. Another rather interesting episode. KennyV. </div></div>Really? I never saw that one. I looked on their website and can't find reference to it. Plus I did a search for it in the message board. There are a lot under show ideas and one sort of hinting at a car episode, but I saw that episode and don't remember them doing any kind of acetone test, much less a thorough one.
  23. Each car is different. Maybe the proportion you are using is off your own personal car's ideal ratio. I hear it also takes more than one fillup to notice a difference. Also, are you going by "feel", computer calculated mileage, or your own calculator/odometer mileage? I would only trust calculator/odometer mileage, which I measured. I recorded a month of regular fillups (without acetone) as a control. I was only able to test through one complete tank (at one ounce per 10 gallons) and then I wrecked it on the one that I (also) put in 4 ounces. We need to give this sucker to the mythbusters dudes.
