1. You know juddev, I was wondering how all that turned out - I remember that girl trying to sell her car and she kept lowering the price. Last thing you had said was that you would be flying there with an ABS system and driving it home..... and now we know "the rest of the story"!

BTW, if your girlfriend thought you went through all that BS just to sleep with the girl, you are much better off with her! Just my $.02!

  2. When one runs out of washer fluid one is reminded every 15 seconds, via the CRT, that one must replenish the washer fluid container IMMEDIATELY or dire consequences could occur!!

Did I mention that it does this every 15 seconds?? It's so annoying that I JUST HAD TO drive to Advanced Auto and pick up some washer fluid when mine ran out just to make the beeping stop!

Ahhhh, you poor folks with 90's and 91's - you will never have this pleasure....

  3. I find this just a little curious - I was watching that auction by eBay because someone on the BCA forum had talked about it - it ended up at $611,000 with "reserve not met". The $635,000 deal must have occured after the auction expired.

  4.

Quote:

The lift in the photo is actually in the Packard Museum in Dayton. It was taken two years ago when my office was on the second floor. What model 1941 Packard have you?

We've been to the Dayton museum quite a few times - what a great place!

We have a 110 "Deluxe" currently sitting with it's clip off awaiting some engine work.

  5. Hey West - Nice car!! And nice lift!

I'm in the market for a lift - what kind is yours and does the 2 post work well for you with your cars? We have a '41 Packard and I wanted to make sure a 2 post would work out.

Not to hijack the thread - I have a post about this on the AACA General Discussion if you wish to respond there.....

  6. Hmmm - that makes sense (wires in the door hinges have gone bad).

PKMike - I don't know if they both stopped at the same time, I've had the car for just a few months and they were like that when I got it....

EDBSO - When I vacuum out the car, then it's basically a pain in the arse to get in the car, close the door, and move the up/back in order to clean around it. Also, in this car, the seatbelt clasp (sp?) is broken and it needs to be replaced, so once again the seat has to be moved up and back, etc.... just a pain....

    Thanks guys!

  7. Re: '89 Reatta

Problem: The driver and passenger side seats will not move (using keypad on door) unless the door is closed. What is causing this? Not a problem in the other Reattas we have - the seats move around just fine with the car off and the door open.....

  8. Ex98thdrill & Debby - I tried looking up the Eagle lift after seeing it mentioned here. The website I get is Eagleequip.com, but in looking at the lifts they appear to be Bend Pak lifts? Is this the right site? Does Eagle sell an Eagle lift and a Bend Pak lift? Please advise.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! We still haven't made a firm decision, but at least we are being pointed in a few directions to investigate. I'd like to see the article Ron referred to - that may be of some assistance!

  9. This car has been on eBay for a while now - I guess everyone knows it's a bit overpriced. It looks like he's lowered the price from the original posting, but not enough. I was tempted to email him and ask if he was joking, but I stopped myself.

  10. Thanks Ex98thdrill! Yes, that does help. Doing a Google search on car lifts is enough to make one's head spin with all the choices available - it's very confusing . We came to the AACA forum for advice because we want to make sure we get something that will work with our antique cars, and the folks on this forum always seem to have a wealth of information.

  11. Hello!

We are in the market for a car lift - do any of you have one? What would you recommend for working on antique vehicles? We would be working on antique and newer model vehicles. 2 post? 4 post? Brand?

Hoping to get opinions from those more experienced in this area....

    Many thanks!

  12. ...oh, and thanks for the info Manik! My blue '89 has all the acoutrements of an '89 so it must have been early production as you indicated. This also means that the engine in my claret car is probably original to the car, which is nice to know.

As to the order in which the cars were produced, I was going by the last 4 digits of the VIN - I thought the lower the number the earlier it was made, but the claret is 2XXX and the blue is 5XXX, so I guess my theory was incorrect..
