  1. Thank you all for the quick ID!
  2. Can anyone identify this hood ornament? Thanks.
  3. Thank you. Was thinking more deck lid because of the red plastic.
  4. Can anyone identify this piece of trim? It is marked D2; MADE IN USA in a circle around the letters BLC or BLG; and the numbers 3687372. Appears to be 3 parts; red plastic and two chromed pot metal pieces. Can't find a provision for a light or wiring. Any ideas? Thanks.
  5. That's encouraging, but what you're asking and what you get are sometimes very different numbers. Unfortunately this one isn't complete and shipping it will be a big PITA. Again, thank you to everyone who helped identify this. John Milford, MI
  6. Just got home, had to take the better half out to dinner, so I couldn't play in the garage. Diagram really helped. I had looked at the frame before and couldn't see where a third bow would bolt up to it. It does bolt up to the missing body bracket. Thank you for your help. 7. Hi Dave, Thanks for replying. It came from an old "Ford guy" estate, he also had some Ford flathead engine parts. The two top bows have me puzzled. Mercury was a large car and I would think it would need 3 bows in addition to the header. I'll open it up tonight and get some measurements. The windshield frame appears to be all original, down to the paint. Did Mercury use PPG glass? Is the 7A7.... number on the sunvisor bracket also a Mercury number? Thanks, John Milford, MI
  8. Hi drwatson, Did Mercury use a single twist handle to release the top? The convertible frame only has two bows which leads me to believe it has to be a roadster type vehicle as opposed to a full size convertible. I was reading a '48 Dodge owners manual online. In the convertible top section it stated to "twist the handle counterclockwise to release the 3 locking pins." Thanks, John
  9. Bump Found a part number on the main hinge for the top frame.
  10. Hi, Purchased this at an estate sale. I was told by the owner, an older gentleman in his 80's, it was from a 1946 Ford. I was later told Ford used 3 handles for the '46 convertible top and this one only has one. The windshield has what I believe to be the original glass in the passenger side, marked PPG Duplate. Sunvisor brackets have the number 7A7504122 on the back with Detroit General in very tiny letters. Wiper riser has stamping number 81433. Convertible top frame has a single twist handle on the header bar for the 3 locking pegs and 2 bows. Hinge has the part number 8M7624324 Does anyone know what vehicle or manufacturer it is from? Thanks, John Milford, MI
  11. Looked again but still didn't see it. I thought I cleaned the engine good, but I sure missed that area. This weekend, if I get a change I'll pull off the alternator and brackets and look again. Any idea why the service manual doesn't mention that location for ID numbers? Thanks, John Milford, MI 1975 Delta 88 Royale, convert 1951 Chev pick up
  12. I can't find the pad you refer to. The '75 Olds shop manual says all V8 engines except the Omega 350 are identified by a code tape (engine code letters, ie WQ and production date, mauual uses 123) installed directly above the engine unit number which is stamped on the engine fill tube. I did just find the stamped number (when I cleaned the engine I missed it.) It's 7 digits and the VIN ends with 6 numbers. They don't even remotely match. Do you know for sure if that number is supposed to match the VIN? Thanks, John Milford, MI
  13. A couple of years ago I purchased a 1975 Olds Delta 88 Royale convertible from the original owner. Odometer says 24K miles and the PO swears it's correct, but the tag on the oil filler tube is missing. How can I find out if the engine is original and does anyone reproduce the engine ID tag?
