  1. Sorry you got hit by the carts, they were all over the place. I understand many people need a cart to get around due to a disability, but why so many carts being used that have no place being there, especially when you see the occupants leap off the carts, and then jump back on and off in a hurry.
  2. During the Hershey meet last year a drone was hovering closely overhead and made a lot of people uncomfortable. One man spoke up and said if he had his gun with him he would shoot it out of the air.

Many times the carts are observed cruising the aisles looking for parts only to stop suddenly while the occupants leap from their carts and rush to examine something then jump back into the carts and off again. Now go ahead and try to convince me everyone riding a cart at Hershey has a physical impairment. It's obvious AACA authorities have no interest in stopping the cheaters.

I realize this topic was started last year and most of the comments are months old, but the suggestion was made that after an engine is Chem-Stripped, DP-90 epoxy primer should be poured in the cooling passages and the engine rolled in order to spread the paint everywhere. Is painting the cooling passages of an engine something that people should be doing? It's tough enough to make paint adhere to the body of a car. With extreme thermal cycling of an engine going from cold to operating temperatures over a period of years, and the potential for antifreeze chemicals to affect the primer, isn't this a recipe for disaster when it delaminates and ends up clogging the radiator and the rest of the cooling system and overheats the engine? A person can go on and on preaching that as long as the surface is perfectly clean, DP-90 and Glyptal can be applied to internal engine surfaces, but there always remains the risk the paint will not stick and result in very negative consequences.

  7. Can a program be purchased and downloaded so a visitor can plan his itinerary rather than show up, purchase a program, and then try to figure out where he needs to go?

Finding Nitrocellulose Lacquer at your local automotive refinishing supply store is essentially impossible, but there are a few companies online that market the paint for use on vehicles, but typically not in quarts. However, musical instrument refinishing supply houses make quarts of Nitrocellulose Lacquer available. Does anyone know if the Nitrocellulose Lacquer offered for refinishing musical instruments is the exact same product used to paint vehicles?
  10. The AACA website has been revised and now images included with posts are oversized. I checked under "My Settings", but did not see anything to reduce image size when opened. How can I correct so that images are not over-sized when opened?
  11. The car has a single side-facing jump seat, so combined with only 2 side windows that would make the car a Berline. Thanks to all for the responses.
  12. Can anyone advise if this Judkins body car is a Sedan limousine or is it a Berline? It has a divider window separating the driver from the rear passengers.

  14. How can someone expect to do better financially through a donation than if he sold them outright? The only way I can see that happening is if an AACA representative is dishonest by providing an overly inflated value of the car, or if the cars are sold in a manner that doesn't provide broad exposure to the maximum number of potential buyers.
  15. I grew up not too far from Gene Zimmerman's museum and knew a guy who worked restoring cars for Gene. Gene decided to close up his museum when the township would not grant him a liquor license.   16. There are likely no elastomeric seals in the transmission, so there is no need to be concerned about damage.
  17. jrhoa2, thanks for being a considerate person in assisting the family. Not proceeding with purchasing the 1931 Chevrolet was a good decision as you were wise to realize the extensive woodwork replacement job was going to be a major undertaking. As far as the Model A, they are one of the best car restoration choices. There is no need to change the transmission over to a F150. The stock Model A is a fine vehicle for local transportation if you don't have take it out on the interstate. People may also try to convince you to convert the Model A brake system to hydraulics, but the original brake system rebuilt and adjusted properly will stop the car safely.

  19. Increased compression is achievable by using a higher viscosity oil. Adding a can of STP to engine oil will increase the viscosity index and result in increased compression.
  20. The major oil manufactures will be the first to tell you that if an additive exists that does all the wonderful things to protect and repair engines that snake oil salesmen would have you believe, the oil manufacturers themselves would be adding those additives to their own oil.
