  1. 1946-1948 Chryslers, 1 key for the igntion and doors, octagon shaped bow, 1 key for the trunk it had a diamond shaped bow, and 1 key glovebox it had a round bow. So 3 keys for 1946-1948 Chryslers. Go to an Ilco website, and look up the keys, repops are occasionally available on Epay, search out old Locksmith shops, have found keys that way
  2. Does this diagram and specs, on help, or is this just for regular frames, and not X frames.........Fred
  3. Just be aware that Wally World house brand oils are re-refined, not sure about accel, have heard of this oil recently. Iam sticking with Shell Rotella T 15W40, it still has some of the highest ZDDP content, and is a very good oil, I buy i in 5 gallon pails
  4. Rusty I concur, and those very tires may be the next tires to go on my car,as the Coker WW are not as cheap as I am. BTW, what type of ride do the Marshalls deliver on your Desoto.....Fred
  5. Not sure they were WW from the factory, or if you could order them like that or if it were a dealer add-on. I suggest you contact Coker Tire, and ask if they have any idea. Here is a pic of a 48 Chrysler promotional shot, and the other is my Club Coupe.... The promo shot there are no WW tires, just the white wheel discs and hub caps, my car does not have WW tires yet
  6. This is an OEM Bias Ply tire size for this vehicle. Translated to modern radial, would be P205 75 R15, you may be able to go up to P215 or P225, but they may rub, so be aware of this, the larger tires help with lowering RPM at highway speed. If you have the M5 trans , you may likely have a 3.54 diff, which helps to cruise a little faster, say 60 to 65 mph, should be okay.......Fred
  7. Sorry Pete, they are all sold. You can contact, Rovon Auto Parts in Vancouver BC Canada, just do a Google search for there telephone number, they will have these, at a decent price........Fred
  8. Sold 2 u-joints today, that leave 2 more u-joints, any takers. This a sweet deal at $35.00 each plus postage, they are getting more expensive all the time, so conact me if anyone is interested. It is always nice to have a set on hand, even if the u-joints on the car are okay, you never know when they will need to be replaced, this way you will have them.........Fred
  9. Sorry, checked the application for your 5 passenger Desoto, thses will not fit. You need OEM # 114-2014, or from Collector Auto Supply part #CB-2014. Too bad as these are preemo NOS U-joints, I am real shocked they have not sold, as they are getting harder to find..........
  10. Yes these U-joints also fit 1940-52 Desoto 6 cyl cars. I will double verify this, and will let you know. I will PM you with further details. In the mean time, do you have any pics of your current u-joints, I do have for both front and rear of your driveshaft.............Fred
  11. Hi Jo Bo, sent you an email, go the pics, thanx will be in touch, working the next few days.....Fred
  12. Thank you very much Bill, that was my suspicion, I have never personally seen or heard of any 46-48 Chrysler Biz Coupes in Manitoba, not that htere may have been years ago.........Fred
  13. Question for Bill Watson, and /or Rusty Otoole. Did they make any 1946-48 Chrysler C38 Business Coupes in Windsor Ontario, for the Canadian market. I have never seen one to date, and have seen only a few C 38 Club Coupes, 2 being mine.........
  14. Hey all still have these U-joints, need to sell them as I cannot use them on my Canadian built47 C 38 Chrysler. I will sacrifice these at $35.00 each plus shipping...........Fred
  15. Here is a pic of my 1847 Chrysler C38 Firewall Tag, this is a Canadian built car, my OEM color was also Regal Maroon
  16. There were 3- 2 door models, a 2 door sedan, a 6 passenger Club Coupe, and 3 passenger Business Coupe, which do you have?
  17. C3893129 Chrysler L head 6 cylinder engine for 1946-48 70590687 production number for a 1947 Chrysler Windsor, not sure which plant your was built. Tag numbers 38 indicates a C38 Chrysler, which could bea Windsor, Royal or Saratoga Body Style #22, what is yours 4 door Paint #16 is Regal Maroon Trim #15 ? could not find yet Hopefully Rusty or Bill Watson will chime in, they are very knowledgeable with this type of info..........
  18. I have a some of these too, the larger caps definately are for 46-48 Chryslers, may have been used on the 41 and/or 42. The smaller caps could be 39,40 or 41. Are you looking to get rid of the larger caps, if so send me a PM........
  19. I think he will need the by-pass type Joe, the full-flow has the heavier plumbing......Fred PS I have some contacs in Alberta, with Guys who own Mopar Flat heads, PM, and I will put you in touch, 1 of them should have what you need
  20. Have it shipped to Port Huron Michigan, pickup and bring over in Sarnia Ontario, and straight home, that is if you are in Ontario. Might be worth looking at Shipping Quote....
  21. I see there is a bid on the car, I have mentioned it toa few people I know in the Old Mopar world............Fred
  22. Here is a pic of Chrysler 251 for a 46-48 Chrysler Royal Model, note full-flow oil filter. I would heed Rusty's advice, and keep the engine if it is a good one ,and add the canister filter, those cartridges are available et NAPA, and any big parts place. My current engine in my 47 Chrysler is from a 51 Canuck Dodge, it is a 218, but runs great, and will keep it for now. Here is a pic of the engine, I plan to pull soon, and rebuild or re-furbish..........Fred
  23. The engine that is in the car now is a Dodge passenger car engine for D24s 1946-48. Measure the block, top side of head from front to back, see if it as a 25 inch or a 23.5 inch engine. The fact that the engine number ends with C, is it is a Canadian engine, if so, it will be a 25 inch block, made in the Windsor plant. The engine is most likel a 228 cubic inch, but may be a 218, will verify this for you later. This oil filter, and pressure vavalve, will also be a by-pass type, do not think it would be a full-flow oil type.Is the oil pressure gauge plumbed in somewhere on the engine, does it work. I have a corrrect engine block here in the Winnipeg area, that I may consider selling. It is a C38 engine with full-flow oil filtration. Let me know if I can be of help.........Fred
  24. Hey Rusty, was my info correct on the Chrysler Canada 1946-48 Royals being equipped with a fluid drive and 3 spd manual trans as stock. I have been told this by a number of Mopar Gurus out in Western Canada, but have no way of knowing if this is correct. You might remember, my car 1947 Chrysler Royal Club Coupe, has a dry clutch,3spd trans, and 3.73 rear end. This was done by someone other than me, about 25 years ago. I just tweaked it to make it correct. So basically my drivetrain is from a Canuck 1951 Dodge with a 218 Long block and the rest of the drivetrain. I have a parts car with a 251, fluid drive and M6 trans, I do no think however I woould convert back to it. My car is a of driver quality, and would never be a show car, actually the idea of a T5 trans, or an automatic OD trans is appealing to me. Sorry did not mean to hi-jack this thread....Fred
  25. In Canada, the 1946 to 1948 Chrysler C38 Royals, and Saratogas, came with a fluid drive and 3 spd trans, and a 3.90 diff, stock. I am sure they could be upgraded to the M5 semi-auto trans. The vacamatic 4 spd semi-auto trans in the earlier models, also was available with Overdrive. Shifting gears with a 3 spd and fluid drive can be done as per manual, running through all gears, or you could leave it in 2nd gear for slower stop and go intown traffic, then only having to shift to 3 rd when needed. I am not sure if they could be left in 3rd gear, and just drivin like that, if so, it would be very slow take -offs. But at a stop light, you do not need a clutch, nor do you have to constantly shift all gears, a nice thing in traffic around town.....
