  2. I have a radio that I hoped was for a 1940 Buick. Model number 980690. It is in decent shape but I have no idea if it works. It has been identified as a 1946 Buick model for 40, 60 and 90 series cars. $50.00 Ed

  9. Letting my baby go: 1940 Model 41 4dr sedan Excellent, solid-largely original-car. Shows 70,5xx miles. I believe this is the odometer's first time around. The radiator and the exhaust (stainless) are new. The carb, wiper motor, generator and radio have been professionally rebuilt. What it needs depends on you. The paint is checked in spots but shines well. Ditto the chrome. There is a crease across the top of the LF fender where something fell on it years ago. Interior had dealer installed slip covers until just before I bought it and the seats are in super condition. Documentation back to the original owner goes with the car. I plan on listing this on E-Bay next week. Asking $9,000. New toys beckon. esheehy@comcast.net
  10. I would think that a 1967-68 Chrysler C-Body (Fury,Monaco,Polara, Newport, New Yorker, etc.) would be the way to go since the chassis was virtually identical to yours. Make sure that you match brake type (drum to drum, disc to disc). Ed
  11. You had to go and profile my favorite-the 1960 models. I have loved them for as long as I can recall. A neighbor had one that she bought new. It got sold when she died. Unfortunately, I had no $ at the time. Now you've gone and got me thinking of selling my 40 and finding a 60. Can't you leave well enough alone? (I never can!) Ed
  12. 36 rears are a 1 year only design. Last I knew, there was no reproduction. Sleeving is your only option. Ed
  13. No repros are out there except occasionally they show up on ebay. I bought some for a 40's chevy pickup after my originals crumbled into uselessness. They are almost the right shade and look period correct. I'll try to dig up the source for them and post a picture. Ed
  14. OK, I see. I didn't notice that it was resting on a board and the individual carbs are free standing. Ed
  15. I got my answer by accident. It turns out that when I removed the old bulb, I had deformed the socket enough that it was not making complete contact. I little gentle persuasion with water pump pliers and it works great. Ed
  16. Well, both the steering column jacket and gearshift rod are different part numbers. Of course that doesn't mean that one won't fit the other but it does make it less likely. Keep in mind that the 40 Special was the end of a particular body run of several years while the Super was in the second year of a new body. Ed
  17. Could you be more specific about how this fits both long and short blocks? What tubes get replaced to change the fitment? Also, I take it that this is made to run with a header rather than the stock exhaust manifold since it doesn't appear to have any facility to tie the I to the E. Ed
