  1. A mate of mine has a 56 Special 4 Door Riviera that he is restoring. After getting it back from the Paint Shop the car was missing the interior front windshield surrounds/mouldings as well as the interior rear screen surrounds/mouldings. As he doesn't use a computer I offered to see if I could track some down for him. So does anyone have some good useable ones that they would part with. If so please PM me or email me at buickman@bigpond.net.au with a price. Hope someone can help him as the car is nearing completion and he needs these to finish it.
  2. Well obviously I didn't look hard enough......didn't realise the gauges were still in there and thought it was a Tacho only. Now I like it even more. By the way.....I picked up some nice early 60's buckets for my '55 and they look cool too.
  3. Seems like something that could be made out of a light metal metal like copper? Yes I know that's not original but paint it and it would look fine....wonder why they made them of cardboard or what ever you wish to call it........couldn't have cost much more for a better material
  4. I've enjoyed following your build. Cool looking tacho, it could pass for factory..............question........I assume you are using separate gauges mounted elsewhere to replaced the oil, amps and temp gauges........what about a gas gauge? Any more update photos?
  5. Spot on Mike.......I have been thinking along the lines of using the original material to try to make them look period correct.......it's that or use a pattern I like from Legendary interiors or similar. Like I said I am aiming for just something a little different but not a radical custom I have been following 54 Fins project and agree about the buckets. I like the Tacho he installed in the Dash....cool.
  6. Thanks Mike & John I'm not aiming to turn it into a full blown custom but I've decided I want it to look a little different to the standard. The drive train I have rebuilt is from a Century so I've collected all I need to turn mine into a Century. When I eventually get it on the road I'll have a "Special" Century I do have a 425 and Switch Pitch Turbo 400 on the shelf that may make it into the car one day but that will be another project if I decide to go down that road.
  7. It's been a while since I last posted here and sorry to say I haven't a lot to report. Project had to be put on hold for a few months although I have still been gathering parts here and there. In the meantime I have been considering some options with the interior and came across these seats locally. I really like these early buckets with the full chrome trim across the Back. I'm thinking of having these trimmed in red to match the rest of the interior and using the short console shown. Thoughts anyone:confused:
  8. - door striker panel driver side (my teeth are broken) If you mean the striker panel that fits to the body pillar then I'm pretty sure they are available new from Bobs Automobilia, Cars Inc and maybe Fusic's as well. These ones are on ebay now http://www.ebay.com/itm/1955-1956-57-1958-1959-BUICK-CENTURY-SUPER-SPECIAL-DOOR-STRIKER-PLATES-PAIR-NEW-/231270732464?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35d8cf52b0&vxp=mtr - two plastic door handle washer They sell these too
  9. Lamar.....Google shows this car is only a casual 570 miles from you........get yourself over there and grab it......then I will have a car I can borrow when I get over there to one of the next Nationals...... Seriously.....someone on this forum should be checking this car out....if it's not hiding any rust issues it would be a great buy.
  10. If the price tag of $65,00 is correct then that's cheap!!!! You wouldn't find a vacant block of land here for that price..............maybe I could make that my "holiday House"during our winter in OZ when it's summer there........................well I can dream can't I
  11. My thoughts exactly Lamar!! There are some rough cars out there at crazy prices and this isn't one of those............. Very nice car at a very reasonable price.
  12. Beautiful car.........................you will certainly turn a few heads along the way as you tour to Portland.
  13. Hey Ted, I'm thinking that building you call the "New Mill" is really going to be your new garage to hold all these recent and future aquistions...........I can see it now.......a multi level car storage facility with lifts.......PERFECT !!
  14. It's not only the Kookaburra that would be merry........ Speaking from experience.......when the West Aussies wind down after a days driving they like to party!!!
  15. Good choice...........maybe we should be calling Mike "Mr 55".
  16. It is sold at the Buy it now price.........sadly it won't be in my garage
  17. Great looking car Matt.......glad you could get her back. Interesting that the white on the lower section doesn't continue to the rear quarter.......is that how it was when you first owned it?
  18. Looks like the real deal to me......beautiful interior combo. If it was here it would be in my garage tomorrow!
  19. Beautiful car......at that price it seems like a bargain to me. Anyone wanting a nice early 30's Buick would be hard pressed to find a better car at that price so complete and with all the options ........ Good luck with the sale.
  20. Paul, Love to see some photos of that set up if you have some to share. Particularly the rear end set up. Is the 62 full size diff the same width as the 56? Any ideas what other years might fit?
  21. My 34 Rear Guards are looking real good ............as is the rest of the project Bring it to the next Nationals in 2016?
