  1. There is a swap meet on Fri, Sat, & Sun (not Monday) of Memorial Day weekend at Springfield OH. It is about 125 miles east of Indianapolis at exit 59 on I-70. There are multiple hotels at exit 54, Hwy 72 if you are not in easy driving distance. Fall 2009 Swap Meet and Car Show The show fills about 2,000 vendor spots, my guess is about 600 vendors or so. They sell items in the 50's through current parts with vendors coming from 250 miles away. I seldom find pre war non Model A or T items. The also have approximately 900 vehicles in the car corral. It doesn't have to run and you will f
  2. As far a the foot peddle, think of a engine valve, just shorten the length. Additionally, there is a washer to fit on the top side of the floor with 4 holes for the screws.
  3. The RCH automobile was mfg by Robert Craig Hupp. He started the Hupp MFG co and later built the RCH car. I suggest you post this on the HUPMOBILE forum. Thanks Hupp36, my mistake. Your correct & I have changed his middle name from Charles to Craig.
  4. Every rule listed can and are successfully broken by different re-builders. This will increase the time to dismantle the car but well be worth it. Get shelving to put the parts on & off the floor. Use an area the size of a 3 car garage or about 600 SQ FT. ( 2 car in a squeeze) Take lots & lots of photos before you start. You will need the photos when you reassemble the car 1 to 4 years later. Label each part and assign a "number" to the part. Write up a description of part "number" and where it is located & what is next to. Take multiple photos of each part just before you remove
  5. Excellent question. I posted the ad for the owner. Then I showed the owner how to join forum. He then posted the ad under his id. I have deleted the duplicate ad I inserted.

  8. dalef62, a very good clue, how about an ice tray for a freezer?
  9. Motor vehicles are the exception as antiques at 25 years. In the ANTIQUE WORLD, an item must be 100 years old to be considered an antique. Until then the item is considered as vintage. There are no known antique TVs but some very very nice vintage TVs. I am lucky enough to have several nice vintage items that I hope will be antiques in my lifetime.
  10. What vintage years are you seeking 20's, 30,s, 40,s, or 50's? You might check EBAY & look under category "antique" and search on "Luggage" or "Suitcase"
  11. This is a portable tire changer tool and can be used on the road. They come in different sizes. Most cars with wood (split) rims from the middle 10's to the mid 30 used these. They work fine to make the rim smaller in diameter to put boot, inter tube, and tire on rim. When they are on the rim, spread rim out and inflate. I installed 7 new tires on car rims with my rim tool. Only took about 20 minutes or so a tire.
  12. Buy a Hemmings Mag & order from last 4 or 5 pages. Check out your local motorcycle shop. Order from MAC Ford parts catalog.
  13. Yes, our town used the 1960 midsized Dodge Dart as a police car. In 1957, 58, & 59 our small town used the Ford with a police special package. In 1960 the town purchased midsized Dodge Darts with Chrysler's police package. In 1960 I worked at the local pharmacy delivering prescriptions in their 1956 Chevy 150 2dr that had a factory 1957 283 4 barrel and manual shift. During this time there were no speed limits in Iowa and the pharmacist had a real led foot. Each year the pharmacist raced his his Chevy against the Ford Police cars and each year they could not pass him. In 1960, they we
  14. Until the safety glass was invented and installed, the original plate glass used could do serious damage in an accident. I am not sure when safety glass became common.
  15. Try using a google search to identify "1954 Chevrolet" cars and trucks advertized in multiple craigslist locations. Insert the following in the search line. 1954 Chevrolet site:craigslist.org
  16. Disney World does this several times a day using small sports sedans by placing the body on backward and dark windows. It is a very exciting trick and well worth spending the time in line for the show. I would not like to see one of these cars on the highway. It would probably create enough of a distraction to cause accident trying to get out of the way. It's a great TV Commercial.
  17. About 12 miles north of Philadelphia, PA
  18. Buick : Super 51C Buick : Super 51C | eBay 1941 Buick convertible on ebay until Jan 29th about 10:00 pm EST for $29,900.00. Check it out
  19. The cone nose and rear wing were used to provide better handling at speeds over 120 MPH. About 30 years ago NASCAR required race cars to be "Stock". Chrysler was in the racing market and was required to sell a set number of cars to run NASCAR. I don't remember if the sales requirement was 500 or 5,000. Check the following link for information on the 1971 racing. HowStuffWorks "1970 NASCAR Grand National Chronology"
  20. Calmer's makes new wood wheels. You send him 2 or 3 spokes plus the hardware. It will take a couple months and you get a very nice wheels. He made a wheel for me. Calimer's Wheel Shop 30 East North Street Waynesboro, PA 17268 717-762-5056 Calimers Wheel Shop: Wooden Wheels Made for Antique Autos.
  21. When Port-a-walls were popular in the 50's and early 60's, the radial tire was not available in the US. Even with bias ply tires, the port-a-walls would not stay next to the bias tire due to sidewall flex. It was easy to spot the fake white walls as the outside edge would be about an 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch from the tire. They looked good for a month or so but you very soon had a 20 to 30 foot car. The radial tire with it's greater flex probably will not work. I don't think grinding the black cover will weaken the sidewall, but give the tire greater flex the same as a similar black wall tir

  23. In September 1959 a classmate, who worked construction, came to school with a 1955 Chrysler 300 with a Hemi engine. The odometer went to 150 and he claimed he had pegged the needle. In Iowa, I-35 only went 30 miles south of I-80 and we set up a flying mile to using a stop watch. Car was clocked at just a little over 130. The course came down a low hill into a river valley about 2 miles long with no exit ramps. Obviously, Chrysler didn't have the speedometer calibrated correctly but few people would check it out.
  24. The AACA Museum at Hershey Pa, it is a very good place to visit. It is about 3 hours drive north of DC.
