  1. You can now get stamps with your car on them. Zazzle Stamps
  2. Speaking of cooling system, Has anyone heard of "Evans Cooling Systems"??? www.evanscooling.com
  3. Has any one had a problem with the Reatta's steering column? I am told that there are three pins down in the column that can and, do come loose. They work their way out and if left, they can fall out and one could loose steering. Any one heard of this problem??? And what if any is the fix?
  4. GM has a problem with their coolant. It is well documented on the internet. But they will not admit to it because they have millions invested in it and hundreds of thousands of cars with it in them. It is reported to eat plastic over the years and a lot of engine parts are now made of plastic. If you can keep it uncontaminated it will work for slightly under 50,00 miles. Any contamination will cause it to turn to jel and plug up the system. At that point it really starts to eat up plastic. My Park Ave was recalled for intake manifold gaskets and BOLTS because they were leaking. My mechanic said that the crap was eating the gaskets and corroding the bolts. He failed to tell me about this when I had the Reatta's changed over. I plan on waiting till spring and changing it back to Prestone. (I'm not driving it this winter).
  5. My transmission service is dropping the pan and draining all the fluid, draining the converter, changing the filter and refilling the trans.
  6. Well now for all you syn oil buffs. I have a 1984 chevy 3/4 ton van with 378,000 miles. Everything is original in the engine and Transmission. I change oil (not syn) every 2500 miles. and filter also. It uses 1/2 quart between changes and is driven every day 2 1/2 miles to work and 2 1/2 miles back home, rain, snow or shine. The valve covers or any other cover has never been off. The transmission has been serviced every 20,000 miles and still works great. Granted the body is ready to fall off, but the ebgine is going strong on Regular OIL. Two more cents....
  7. Gentlemen: After talking to all of the mechanics and my local Buick dealer and being told by ALL to stay away from syn. oil. One showed me a Buick out in the lot that had been running if for 50,000 miles, the engine had seized up. They all claim a good brand name oil is much better. And as for Fram oil filters, they are rated as the worst filter on the market. ( In a previous post I have a site that rates all oils filters) That's my two cents.
  8. Even if the chick goes with it it's not worth the money.

  10. Over the edge again............. The man has a right to his opinion. But I guess not on this site...
  11. Should have painted the door jams and underhood. Looks cheap the way it is.
  12. Do you think if I sent in one of those origianl post cards for the Engraved Portfolio nameplate, that they would send me one?
  13. I am in the process of changing the Fuel Injection unit on my 90 Reatta to the tuned port version from a 91. Has anyone done this before? And are there any major problems that I can look forward to? I have one concern that I can see. I am at a loss as to what to do about the EGR Valve. I can not see on the 91 and the 90 has one that is electronically controlled. ANY help would be appreciated.... JON...

    Air Bag

I think you guys have gone over the edge on this one. I have removed many air bag from several different car makes and never had a problem. The only thing you MUST DO is keep the Ign. OFF. With it off there is no power to the air bag. In fact I have mine off right now, it is laying on the floor in my office and I have removed it three times (from my Reatta)this way and never had a problem. Even if there is a charge in it, unless you short it to a ground it will not discharge.
  15. This man claims he has the rights to sell this Service manual. How can he doit legally? On E-Bay 1990 BUICK RIVIERA-REATTA SERVICE MANUAL ON CD 1-DAY! Item number: 8017014817
  16. DHL is owned by the German Postal Service. They just finished buying several othe air frieght forwarders.
  17. What does replacing the motor have to do with bolting on TPI from say a 91?
  18. To the Guys on the net that are looking for more power. How about changing you fuel injection to a later model, like a 91 w/ tuned port fuel injection. It will get you a few more HP. and will work (I think ) with you computer.
  19. I was cleaning a throttle body from a 91 Reatta when I came across a plate moulded into the body of it. Never guess what it said. "HITACHI" .. and under that.. "JAPAN". Who said they were Hand Made in Anerica?. They were out sourcing even back in 91. Isn't anything 100% "Made in the USA?.
  20. Yhe sign should read "Dangerous Curves"
  21. Have you removed the new filter and checked it. Also look at the housing and see if there is an old rubber gasket in the seat. It sounds like you are looseing pressure after you start it up, like something is blocking the oil line.

    Gm's future

Not to change the subject, But have any of you looked into the "Great" warrantys offered by the offshore Auto Companys??? The ultimate one is BMW. but the Korean & Jap auto Co's are no slackards either. You can't do anything to thease cars yourself or you void the warranty. And if you try, you are going to need special tools. Also, at certain mileages you have to have the dealer perform certain work at your cost. I hope all you foreign car lovers will wake up and "BUY AMERICAN" Cause if you don't, you know where GM and all rhe rest of the American auto makers are going. JON...
