  1. I need a 3-groove water pump pulley for a '60 Electra with A/C. Mine is bent enough to cause high RPM vibration, don't think the pump will take much of it. I have looked everywhere, called all the Buick guys, junk yards, etc. Can these be straightened? Was it used on any other car? Part # 1187732 Any one have any ideas for modifications, substitutions? Desperate in a '60 Dan

  3. Thanks much. I'm in a little trouble, need a 3-groove water pump pully for my 60 Electra & cannot find it anywhere. Dan
  4. Please help a Chevy/Ford guy understand what the opening with rubber boot above the drive shaft ahead of the differential is on my 1960 Electra.
  5. This 42,000 mile system probably hasen't run in 30 years, but I need to try to get it going. Lotsa vacuum lines & actuators. Neither the chassis or body shop manual cover the A/C system, what manual does? My bowdin cables are frozen, dash lever stuck, other lever feels disconnected from its cable. Anyone rehabbed one of these? Who is the best parts supplier for a 60 Buick? Dan
  6. I recieved a 1960 Buick Electra 4-door sedan today, the 42,000 mile car talked about a week or so back on Ebay. Here's what I have: -No rust, anywhere. Bottom with dry dirt & some surface rust, everything solid.. -Fair to poor respray of the white, brown is original & in good shape other than some deep scratches. -Some poorly done repairs of parking lot and/or garage encounters. -chrome scratched, not great, not terrable, stainless mostly very good, one or two dented pieces. -Glass excellent, one small hole in lower left side near dash -Engine compartment unfortunatley steam cleaned, blew off original paint, someone tried touch-up. -Original interior is smithsonian, bone original & needing only light cleaning & repair to right rear armrest, beautiful mohair headliner, or what ever that stuff is, would make good pajamas. -Clock dead but all other instruments & lights work except for left dash turn indicator lamp -All electric windows work, window sweeps great, 8-way power seat works, radio works, with rear speaker & fader. -Rear running lamps work with parking lamps, not headlamps, one reverse lamp out. -Original T-3 headlamps, work. Horn missing one note. -Turns over & starts, blows no smoke. Carb likley full of crap & in need of rebuild, water pump sounds like its had it. Needs a good tune up but sounds like it will run very strong once straightened out. All in all, a 42,000 mile survivor suffering only the indignity of amiture minor accident damage and long term storage/lack of use. Though she is badly out of tune, when I ran her down the road she was tight & quiet, you can tell that when I get her in shape, she will be a nice big road car. I'm going to need to get the A/C repaired. The lever is seized up, guess the cable is frozen, and the blower motor is wheezing at best. There are a lot of vacuum lines & actuators on this puppy too, kinda gives me pause, but I want the A/C working. I need the right hand radio knob. I bought a '60 Body and '60 Chassis maunal but still don't have anything on the A/C or heat, charging system, etc, is that yet a third book? I was a Chevy guy originaly, then I bought a Ford, afterwards a Plymouth. Now I have this battleship. I'm going to need some help from you guys. I'll send pictures once its cleaned up. Dan
  7. Thanks guys, I'll be at the Vernon CT show for sure, only twenty five minutes away, and I'll be joining up as well. I just want to get my hands on the car! Dan
  8. Brian/Greg, thanks for the warm reception. I think the similar canted theme in the 60 Buick and 61 Plymouth is the reason I like both cars, but I think it fair to say that the 6o Buick is sleek. The 61 Plymouth is as ugly as a mud fence. I hope the Buick is in the shape you all seem to believe it is. The owner says it is in amazing shape. I bought it sight unseen, something I have done before but promised not to do again. Then I bought the Plymouth, it was a 52,000 mile original with not even surface rust on its bottom. The Buick pictures while not high resolution, gave me enough clues to feel comfortable rolling the dice. The door rubbers are not rotted off, the jambs are clean, hardware shines. It seems honest, and if it shows up with rust & fudge, I'd be suprised. Anyway, I'm glad you guys are out there. I have a feeling the Buick will become the car I want to drive more often than the others. As soon as it gets here, I'll post pictures & give you the full report. Dan
  9. I just bought that 60 4-door sedan & hope to have it here in 30 days. I always wanted a 59-60 Buick and the investor side of me said get a coupe (25,000+) or a ragtop ($45,000+). Finally I agreed with the common sense side that said Look, its the car you want, the style, the nail head, the twin turbine, the ride, so why not get a good car for $8,500 instead? So that's what I did. Love to hear any of your thoughts, it's my first Buick. Dan
