  1. Just finished putting this together for my 1961 Oldsmobile(S). I have sent an email to Dietz (China) requesting more info if they have any. The case must have been made prior to 1956 because the company relocated to Taiwan that year. There is a foam rubber pad, black in the pictures, about 5/8" thick with holes for the fuses and bulbs. the lower part of the case holds two 5-1/2" sealed beams. It obviously was for traveling by auto with spares for dealing with fuse or bulb failure. The labels are something I added, there were none in the case when I found it. Don't remember where I found it. Copies of the bulb and fuse specs (not shown) from the service manual are folded and stored with the sealed beams. Curious as to whether anyone has seen this case before or has more info about it. The 94-IF bulb I have been looking for would finish the assortment. There is a 94 in the slot for the 94IF. Thanx, Dave

  3. Thanx, Dan, bulbtown does not have it. Dave
  4. You are correct, it is the dome light bulb. Shown in service manual as dome and reading light. donsbulbs.com. has the bulb, $18 + $5 shipping. I was hoping someone might have one they could send me. If not its out to the salvage yard to go thru the old cars and try to find one. Thanx for your interest, Dave
  5. Trying to find all the correct bulbs for my 1961 Olds Starfire and D-88 coupe. The only bulb that I can't find is #94-IF , which is a 94, inside frosted. Anyone know where I might find one good bulb ???? Thanx, Dave
  6. My 1961 was delivered new with one inch w/w's. You can still get one inch W/W's from Coker in the bias ply. I like the bias ply tires better than the radials because they are the correct diameter.(larger), if you get the original size tire. Makes your speedometer correct if your car had bias plies when new. Also reduces the revolutions per mile and in addition gives your car the correct stance.
  7. Are there any photos or comments on the 2013 Nationals at Springfield???
  8. Has anyone got pic's or comments about the Springfield Nationals ????? Thanx, Dave
  9. That was a "maybe". The guys at Impala Bobs will know if they are the same.
  10. This filter is in addition to the original filter. Read this link http://magnefinefilters.com/Magnefine-5-16-Magnetic-Inline-Transmission-Filter-R516M.htm If I can prevent a failure of the Slim Jim for $16 it seems to me that would be a good return on investment. Besides the dual action filter media takes out foreign matter to 3 microns, in addition to the magnetic trap, definetly not a toy. I really doubt the 1961 engineering standards went that low. The manufacturer recommends a 30,000 mile interval for changing the external filter. I doubt I drive mine that far. Here is the manufacturers response to my question """If the Transmission does not have any issues the factory recommends 30k miles. Regards, Greg""" Request: I am installing the 5/16' Magnefine filter on my 1961 Oldsmobiles. What would be the service life of one filter in miles ???? Thanx, Dave Anyway thought I'd throw this out for others who might be concerned about transmission failures on their precious cars. I can't afford not to. Dave
  11. Magnefine 5/16 Inch Magnetic Inline Transmission Filter I have installed one of these in the transmission cooler return line on my Starfire. Ther are probably 3-5000 miles on the tranny and I did not clean the internal filter. In the return line to pick up anything that could come from the cooler. Most owners know the internal filter is a pain to change and hard to find. I will soon add one to my Dynamic 88 coupe. Why would this not be good for any automatic transmission??? Comments please. Dave
  12. Your 1/2" square drive will fit. Good luck, Dave
  13. Booster Dewey Power Brake Booster Exchange Inc. Dewey has done three for my 1961's. Reasonable and excellent service. Dave
  14. The best thing to do would be to buy a service manual. It will have what you need to service the whole car including the diagrams. Here is one on e bay now. 1962 Oldsmobile 88 s 88 98 Starfire F 85 Original Service Manual | eBay Good luck , Dave
  15. Had the same problem with a brand new 61 on a trip from L.A. to Colorado Springs. Albuquerque N.M. dealer removed it and problem solved. Besides why is a sock needed ??? The glass fuel bowl should catch anything that might come through the line. I have removed the socks on all my early olds and never had a problem. Good Luck, Dave
  16. Wire a 12 volt light between the battery terminal and the ground strap. Disconnect and or shake wires everywhere. When the light goes out you have removed the short. Have fun. When my 61 Starfire first came to live with us I had a similar problem. When the drivers door was opened the oil pressure warning light would come on, with the key off. If your short occurs with the key off that points you toward those circuits which are active ,such as parking lights and courtesy lights.
  17. It took a while to figure out what was different. E-bay 160850998867 Dave
  18. I forgot to say that a tight window will overload the breaker. I have to "manage" the quarter windows, the new weather stripping is not co-operative when trying to close them. Dave
  19. There is a relay and a circuit breaker between the left front fender and the drivers side kick panel just in front of the hinge post. Vibration sometimes shakes the connections loose. I had the same problem, tightened everything, the problem went away. The circuit breaker is what is opening and resetting after it cools down. Look for bad connections ,etc. Dave
  20. Fluid is going thru the booster ! Check this site ! Booster Dewey Power Brake Booster Exchange Inc. Has done all my work ! Good prices and excellent work. Good luck, Dave
  21. Just trying to keep this "HOT" until a few guys see it. Dave
  22. See my post in the AACA General column. Great stuff. Dave
  23. See my posts in the general column. Use quotation marks and eliminate the %$#@#. Dave
  24. Just tried this on "1962 Oldsmobile" and it cut from 11227 items to 703. Thanx again to whoever said to try this. Dave
