  1. Bought reatta good shape great inside and out both brake lights are on so I figured It's the usual problem everyone has, right< you no the pump or pressure switch I read though if the TEVES goes out the pedal, of course, becomes hard and you can barely stop, even with two feet pressing on the pedal. Well mine stops like I had no power brakes but I can stop with one foot . Like an old Pick-up with 4 wheel drums. Now the weird part. Recently on a below freezing night I got out in the reatta, started her up waited to clear the ABS Malfunction SCREEN and head out well the Malfunction screen didn't come on > I put it in Reverse and blam the pedal was working perfectly. I had perfect brakes I was in shock cause I read when it goes it's gone, I didn't want to stop driving for fear of the heavy brake returning and of course it did. This leads me to believe that my problem is a possible electrical one. A bad ground perhaps? It's never done this before or since . Did the below freezing temp cause a bad ground to become good enough by drawing the molecules closer together? I then noticed the Control Box in the trunk and the wires going into it and oh boy someone has a t one time splied some of the wires here and used good ole duct tape of course not electrical to hold them together. Can the pedal come and go like that if is the pump or do I smell smoke in the trunk What does the Control box do anyway> I'd appreciate anyone's input Thanks
  2. I read in this forum from pages long ago about your problem> There is a switch, similar to the Brake light switch and it is located in the same place It touched the Brake pedal in a similar fashion also. The discussion I read said that one day while driving his reatta he accidentally lifted up on the brake pedal and noticed his car went into 4th gear I don't even think he knew he had a 4th gear so he looked up under the dash and noticed a swich It's a tight fit for large hands but possible He said the swith had loosened u p and all he did was tightened it back and ajust the lenght of the "button" or swithch to about an 1/8 th inch distance and hasn't had a problem since Yes the switch is there. I checked it out for my self and mine needc a little adjusting also. I also read that the transmission won't shift into Over Drive until engine temperature reaches 155 degrees. This is also true It saves the Over-drive band from being used at a vulnerable time at start up and makes sure it's not used until good lubrication is reached. Makes sense to me OD is always the first band to go out but I bet your problem is the switch. The switch is located and related to the brake pedal beuse of the relationship to the cruise conrol feature. Hope that helps you out good luck
