Thanks. I got the new master cylinder for a Daytona with four-wheel disc, and the booster, and a proportioning valve that was pulled off of a Daytona with four-wheel disc, which still has the front lines on it. I should have the pedal assembly coming as well. Instead of plugging one of the rear line holes in the proportioning valve, has anyone tried to run separate lines to the left and right rear brakes? Being Chrysler calipers, do the lines that go to them have standard flares, or are they euro style like the other end? I have never pulled mine.

Everting beyond the Teves components is standard American fittings like all other domestic Chrysler products.

If the Daytona is an 89 or newer, get the rear Disc Brakes as well.

  2. Chrysler TC by Maserati Brake Booster Replacement is the link on ALLPAR website where it is published for anyone to read. If anyone wants to know what vehicles are most appropriate to get USED parts from, I would say any 'K' platform MOPAR from the late 80's to '95 would be the best choices. I got mine from a 1989 LeBaron Coupe with 4 wheel disc brakes, but it is OK to get your parts from a car with just front discs. The most important thing to remember is to install a NEW master cylinder for 4 wheel Disc Brakes on your TC.  For more info, TCA Club members know how to contact me, others, send a text on this site.  You might also think about updating the rear DISC calipers on your TC at the same time. Just use rear disc setup from any other 'K' platform MOPAR from 1989 to '95.

    Hi Guys,

I am removing the old crappy dealer installed EVS system from my 89".  I located an EVS II installation manual (really wish I had the earlier original system one).  I have disconnected the under-dash control module and it look like I need to get an O.E. ignition switch harness that was removed when the dealer installed the EVS system.  Does anyone know where I can obtain one?

A clear wide angle of the current ignition switch harness would be helpful, for us to see what you are up against. Anyone parting out a 1989 TC should be able to supply you with a harness, if they are able-bodied enough.

  4. If someone used one of these scanners in an automotive repair shop, they would have all these components if they also updated the hardware as the years went by. I used this scanner from the time they came out until I retired in December 2011. I still use it today on my cars and any other domestic vehicle of that era.

  5. Hey Hemi!...no, I dont have one....but looked it up on ebay...comes with all kinds of cartridges....the ones offered have all but chrysler vehicles...

will this thing be able to read the codes from the Transmission with its built in software as well?

You need these 2 cable adaptors for your TC and the pictured modules for the 89-91 TCIMG_5431.jpeg.cb1bc2f07b3b6e0d76dde3ab2a7b8605.jpeg  IMG_5432.jpeg.029e2298ce8d8f6cd17976301aafd5e6.jpeg  IMG_5433.jpeg.86fbe37c700ca75804f8b8ea60e8bc53.jpeg

here we go again....5 days ago on my way to get my oil changed, the Transmission got into "the funny" mode...great!...5 mile drive to the shop...was not able to pull over so kept on going...at a max of 30mph...1 mile before the shop, everything went back to normal....ever since then, no issue.... fluid is perfect ( changed, new filter, new TCM and solenoid pack in 2021.  no leaks...no noise...wondering, if it was a one time hickup...

also...other than the neutral switch/sensor, which other sensors do I have to replace? ( cant find anything in the factory repair book)  and what are the part numbers for them?   other than that, I am considering Hemi´s advice - looking for a PT cruizer trans....

Do you have any sort of diagnostic Scanner like the old Snap-On 2500 'Red Brick' as it use to be called? This thing can do a very thorough scanning of the A-604 on our TCs. That part number you see is the engine controller, the SBEC in this particular car. There is an adaptor to connect with the blue diagnostic connector behind the dashboard lower cover, below the steering column.

Any thoughts Hemi?  Care to chime in here?????

I have not dealt with Accumulators for about 20 years though I did replace a couple at the Chesterfield meet in September but the owners of the cars provided them. I’m extremely pleased with my non-ABS braked on my TC.

  8. You likely have an automatic transmission, but even with a manual, neutral is the wrong thing. Place your automatic in park ant the manual in 1st gear. THEN IT MUST OF COURSE BE STRAPPED DOWN BY THE FRONT WHEELS.
You leave the parking brake OFF!

I actually thought I wasnt found of the light yellow, beige color combo but I have to say it is really growing on me!. I have never seen such beautiful,  perfect rims on a car let alone on from 1989.

Good story. When I was chatting with the original owner he started telling me he almost didnt buy the car. The story goes he went to a personal friend that owned a chrysler/dodge dealership in chicago area. when the TC came out, he had to have one with the Maserati engine. So he ordered it and was explicit that no miles get driven on the car. Well he said the car came into Chicago Navy Pier by boat.  I didnt know that could happen but they then DROVE the car the 20 miles or so to the dealership. He was furious! He wanted it flat bed towed to the dealership. With a lot of persuading by his friend, owner of the dealership he went through with the purchase... on one condition. That the dealer flat bed and pay for the car to be sent back to Danville illinois!

I have to wonder about people who buy a car and insist on no, or very few miles be put on the car. It is as though they want to imagine having their own Automobile Museum, just for them to admire and worship their monument parked in their garage.

I’m just a poor old mechanic who worked most of my life in dealerships as a line mechanic. Personally, I feel that cars are meant to be used, maintained, and kept in as nice condition as possible and at the end of the line, having racked up as many miles as they could over the years. My ‘89 TC has had that opportunity and I was very glad to see the odometer roll over to 300,000 miles on my way back from the TCA Owners Club meeting last September. My TC still looks fairly nice and runs very well. If it could talk, it would tell all those garage queens, “I’ve been everywhere. Many wonderful highway miles over the years.”

Hey Hemi! thanks for looking into this!  I compared the 89 to the 90/91 lock cylinder and it is clearly missing the LED altogether...look:

first 2 pics are my lock, 3rd is the LED Halo lock...last is how it should look....

Now that I have 2 TCs parked in my garage, I see that my red 89 has the lock cylinder that accommodates the ‘Halo Light’ and the white 90/91 does not. Mine has never operated and I found that the connection to the LED has broken away. I suspect that this is the general cause of failure rather than a time delay relay which has worked all these years in my red TC, for my interior lights and also for the one to the ignition switch light.

I would like to take this time to introduce myself to everyone,  my name is Tim Fleshman,  I'm retired from the US Army after 20 years and then moved to the Kansas City Metro area from Fort Hood Texas. I started working with Homeland Security and the Federal Protective Services in 2003 til 2017 when it was identified by the Kansas City VA Hospital Oncology Department that I have late stage abdominal cancer. My father passed away at the same time frame so, I packed my Mother and Sister up and moved all the way to Greenwood Delaware , my father left me a 1990 Honda CRX and 1990 Chrysler TC Maserati in awesome condition. I say this because I want to apologize to everyone here if I've sent messages to the wrong place,  I'm learning about this site by baptism by fire. Bare with me please,  I'll learn.

As a US Marine from the Viet Nam era, I welcome you Tim Fleshman to our group and as the technical advisor for the TCA Owners club, invite you to join. I’ll even pay your first years dues. Just submit your entry form to our club president Bob French.  Then you will have our personal contact information from our Newsletter so you can call and speak with anyone in Tech or Parts.

I think your problem is simpler to resolve than replacing the motors. After all, if the motor will move forward, with reversed polarity, it should move rearward as well.

Also, if I could get the seat all the way back,  I wouldn't have worried about it,  but I was on the inside of a market and my mother bless her heart was when it happened with the seat

Let me ask you this, is the right side power seat SWITCH loose and somewhat submerged in the console bezel? This could prevent the full ‘stroke’ movement of the control switch knob from moving fully toward the rear direction switch contact point. This is due to the switch being broken away from its mounting point.

Good Evening to everyone here in the Antigue Automobile Club. I am here to maybe get some help on finding a Passenger Seat Motor for my TC and the chrome trim grommet on the Drivers side fender.

I also have extra parts that I've kept over the years (a really really nice hood with the chrome no dents, and other parts.) I can supply photos upon your request.

    Thank you in advance.

    Respectfully,

The seats have 3 motors in each 'track mechanism'. What is it that your passenger seat will NOT do?  You may just have a bad console switch which is the most common problem, or there could be a poor or disconnected electrical connection under the seat track.  Check it carefully, a passenger seat track motor rarely fails, really, how much does that seat get moved?

Hemi Dude thank you for your reply.  I finally figured it out.  But I have a couple of new questions:

Was the original radio in the 1991 TC reasonably good quality and sound.  Previous owner up-graded. (theoretically)  I am thinking about trying  find an original.

Can little very light scratches on my pain (original red) be polished out? Kind of  light crazing.  I don't want to have to repaint the entire car.

    Thanks:

    Howard Brown

As for the original radios, stay away from any 1980s and 1990s radios. From what I have experienced, they all seem to succumb to time and the ambient hot, dry and/or moist air in the car that kills the radios. I purchased a NEW genuine MOPAR replacement AM/FM radio with C/D & Cassette player some 20 years ago. It just quit yesterday and I used it sparingly. Well, at least it looks original for car shows and I can live without the sounds.
There are others here who can likely help you better with radio choices than I can. Good luck.🍀

Hey Guys, just curious if anyone knows the steering wheel mounting size on 91 TC? Not a fan of the bulky square version in my 91. Looking on eBay at vintage style wood grain steering wheels. Any pics if someone else has swapped theirs would be great as well. I've never changed a steering wheel. So what I've gathered is these have a 6 bolt pattern but my question is are all 6  bolt the same size? Is there anything else I need to check ?

    thanks y'all

For information ONLY!: On my 1989 TC, which DID NOT  come with an air bag in the center of the steering wheel, I installed this MOMO leather wrapped steering wheel due to the sun 's effect on the original steering wheel. It is also a little smaller in diameter and a pleasure to handle.

I in no way encourage you to replace your Air Bag equipped steering wheel.           (YES, this reply from the guy who removed the ABS Brake components from this same car 23 years ago.)

My 1991 TC ran fine when it was put in the garage, a few days later it wouldn't start. Engine turns over, battery has full charge, 12 volts going to the ignition coil (new coil didn't help), fuses are good. Could it be the ECM ?

It could be the distributor, but without proper diagnoses we are only guessing.  It is rarely the ECM, unless you have some sort of theft prevention connected. You apparently have a 3.0L.
