  1. Well where's Alex! Get him on here he has to be initiated!!!

And heres a picture I happen to have from last winter, just pulled it out to run it for awhile. If it wasn't for the salt I'd probably drive it in the snow too once or twice!
  3. I didn't know we did that? Pre OBD-II stuff, '95 and earlier, doesn't get hooked up to a sniffer aside from downstate in the city, and then OBDII is just hooked up to the computer. I thought all of Cali., no matter where, that everything gets tested.
  4. Alright Im gonna take a risk here. That risk being threatened death by many on here LOL. In the last two seasons of enjoying the '38 I've probably ignition-switch-backfired it at least 50 times. At least. Now here's my C.Y.A. (cover yer AHEM)....actually was told how to do that by an old-timer...I even think it might have been someone on here... and of course warned "and that muffler peeled right open like a can of sardines!" SO what did I do? Try it OBVIOUSLY. Havent ruptured one piece of exhaust equipment! It's all flex pipe and an off the shelf $18 special muffler, so no worries anyway. The muffler has very big creases in multiple spots...but no holes! hehe As of lately, this summer, I stopped doing it for the most part. Got it out of my system I suppose. But man that is LOUD! *evil grin* As well as multiple burnouts in the middle of nowhere in the cougar etc etc.
  5. Yeah I really more and more feel like a lot of these things like the zinc, leaded gas etc seem to apply to the musclecar era...ish. As said, higher performance engines.

If it was not there, the window would not function because there would be no place for it to recede into. Think about it. stevo</div></div> Yes that makes sense. I can understand that. What I dont like is the exact look of it. How it slants backward and then at the last minute swoops right back forward. Again just me. That wagon is kinda sharp!
  7. Seems that everyone even old car guys still like this stuff. I guess I'm a little bit alone. Good thing there's old stuff...I am SO sick of current auto styling. First the imports all look the same, now our own are doing it too. I think what I hate the most is that d$#n last rear side window. Every. Single. Sedan. Everyone has that. I HATE it with a passion. To the best of my memory the *first* car, that should claim rights to it, is the infiniti g35 sedan. I swear that's the first time I saw it, and when I next saw it on a volkswagen or something I rolled my eyes and prayed MAYBE I wouldnt see it again. That's just one of many issues I have, it just happens to "send me over the edge" Anyone ever do woodwork? Sanding? Ya know those sanding blocks? Rubber thing that's a semi-circle shape? That's what I see when I look at current 4 door sedans. 1980s was a "box on wheels" right? Well the early 21st century is a semicircle on wheels. I dont mean to be a spoil-sport but Im just getting REALLY bored here. The imports are the worst offenders. I see a ford fusion? What a breath of fresh air. Chevy malibu? Ehhhh still many elements Im bothered by but overall they stand out kinda. Good old chevy grille up front. Oh well. If that's what people are attracted to these days, whatever. Theyre them and Im me and I got my old worthless stuff and I think its waaaaay better
  8. <span style="font-style: italic">EDIT---got rid of the stuff since its fixed now</span> I make that mistake CONSTANTLY with photobucket haha. Youre viewing the image but with their frame deal so putting that in IMG tags means nothing to the forum. View the whole album, then move your mouse over the thumbnail to see the little drop down menu that shows up with "Direct Link" "IMG code" etc... so use those and it'll be linking right to the file itself. In fact the only issue was, after ".JPG" youll notice the ? and then garbage after that, I guess that's for the frame or something. Little annoying but photobucket is still awesome!!!! And that's definitely a great idea. Plenty of stuff you can't fit in a normal cabinet.

  10. The first idea for the Mako Shark Corvette concept was, unsurprisingly, canned with great haste. As was the individual who dreamt it up.
  11. WOW! I'd like to hear those run. Better yet I'll TAKE ONE! hahahaha.....wow...
  12. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: JohnD1956</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Hopefully someone else with better experience will chime in. </div></div> Yeah I just remember that being mentioned in a couple threads (the oil issue has come up several times on this forum). I gotta go dig em up hehe so laaaaaazyyyy.
  13. I just noticed something I didn't notice before (department of redundancy department anyone? ) Yellow....<span style="font-style: italic">yellow</span>...window tint. *sigh*.....I mean..come on now! Yellow window tint. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA
  14. ^^^^ That's kinda my feeling. As much as I'd hate to have to stand next to it and look at it...it is still a Buick, the interest could be sparked. The "never miss an opportunity to get another club member" is definitely a good point and a reminder of how we all always want more people to see the worth in preserving old iron and learning about it....

Even if heat isn't an issue because it isn't driven and the carpet glue is fireproof, aren't they reflecting U.V. light into places God and G.M. would rather it not go? </div></div> Dave....I've NEVER seen freakin CHROME floormats in my life....that just made me laugh. Diamond-plate-steel-styled chrome floormats. I bet driving around on a sunny day that reflection is blinding. And yes....UV is bad let's not make it any more far-reaching.
  16. For me it's not that a nice old Buick was wildly modified....it's just the latest installation in a story that won't end already. Just the latest overly-gaudy way to make your car (and yourself I suppose) look wealthy and classy. I'm starting to see beaten past-their-prime ford expeditions and chevy tahoes even with huge wheels on them and chrome trinkets in the worst places. Not to mention blacked out or clear taillights. Shoulda put that money towards the massive exhaust leak that makes the front of the car sound like an angry typewriter LOL.
  17. Wow. Seemed to me like it just needed to be rated "SL" or "Sx", x being any letter less than L, alphabetically. Interesting. I'll have to look at the bottle. Suppose maybe I'll start using that STP addititve. What a royal pain it is. I do know that the compound you listed there is commonly referred to as "ZDDP" Zinc *D*ialkyl*D*ithio*P*hosphate. Thats what we need. So if it's got it than that's the ticket. Hopefully I haven't done too much damage to this original non-rebuilt engine. I guess it's never too late to start, I'll be grabbin that stuff come next spring. Sure won't need it anytime soon. You believe this storm? The roads are terrible!!!
  18. JD--- Get over to WalMart, find the oil branded "Accel". Black bottle, ought to be straight 30 non detergent with a green label, and 10w-30 with a red label....which is modern detergent stuff. Both rated *SF* in fact, which is very out-dated. I remember the discussions saying even SL would be good enough. The stuff even specifically says "for 1988 and older vehicles". I've been using that in the '38 all year. They always have it, looks like it is selling so I think it shouldn't be going anywhere anytime soon.
  19. There is actually someone with a 1970 I think tan lesabre siting on 24's, with goofy bright yellow brake drums. Two years ago he'd roll through the cruise nights around here and not stay...last summer he came to the popular centrally-located one pretty regularly. Not a fan at all. JohnD1956 is a better man than I for talking to him and probably inviting him to join our chapter. Im sorry it's just ridiculous to me. Every time I hope that this is a passing fad...keeps comin back again like you-know-what that wont flush. LOL.
  20. "When VTEC kicks in.......this is the guy that's doin' the <span style="font-style: italic">legwork</span>!"
  21. I......dont......KNOWWWW!!!!!! I mean that car is basicaly worthless now LOL.
  22. Uh-oh.....one of THESE threads!!!!!! Just so happens I have a thread from another forum to steal from...I think some of you will be *quite* shocked by the utter abominations therein....
  23. WOW. As previously stated haha. That is gorgeous. Drive the hell out of it!!! What's she got in front of the firewall?
