  1. Jan: Thank iyou very much for your response. I appreciate all info and help I can get. Yes, I have fresh gas and the plugs are new and properly gapped - the car does start and will run under load now. With the help of members, I have discovered that fuel is entering the manifold through the vacuum line. I can remove the plug on top of vacuum tank and the car will run until the tank goes dry. I have ordered a rebuilt tank from Roy Brister but don't expect to get it until the 19th, so I guess I'll wait until then to try anything else. I have replaced the springs and gaskets on my tank and cleaned everything throughly. I also have replaced the fuel tank and all of the lines. How many Dodges have magneto systems? I have tried to change over to distributor but the water pump shaft won't line up. I did get mine rebuiult and it seems to produce a good spark. Timing and point adjustment is very difficult and when it runs, it seems in time. Hope I don't have to go there. Thanks again for everyone's help. Dan McInnis
  2. Rodger: Thank you very much for your reply. One of the carbs I have has obvious physical damage to the metering valve - the other one appears to be o.k. I did have a hairline crack in the top of my vacuum tank but I replaced that and thoroughly cleaned it. The fact that it pulls 10 lbs of vacuum and keeps the tank full caused me to think that it was working properly. I was unaware of the possibility of problems with the vacuum port as you have mentioned, although Tom Myers has brought that problem to my attention. I have ordered a rebuilt carb from him to be sure it is not a carb problem and I am talking to Roy Brister about a rebuilt vacuum tank. As for electrical, my car has a magneto and I have had that rebuilt and it seems to be in time, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that it is a fuel problem - thanks again for your advice - I'll keep trying. 3. I've a Dodge 1925 Touring sedan. I've two carburetors. Neither of them work. I'm desperate. Is there anyone out there selling a working carburetor.
  4. Clay: I have sent you a private message - looking forward to getting with you - I may have some of the parts you are looking for and I have lost your cell phone number - Dan McInnis
  5. I live at Lake Sampson just south of Starke and have a 1925 Dodge touring car and would like to talk to you.\ Dan McInnis
  6. Thank you for giving me some advice - I have 2 carburators and 1 has a snap top which I can look into the carb as it fills - it must be that the float is not going high enough - I will look at the bottom and see if I have any flat spots - thanks again - I know I will get this solved soon - been working at it for a few weeks - thanks again - Dan
  7. I've two rebuilt carburetors. Both clean. Both leak through their float chambers, it seems. For troubleshooting, I've bypassed the vacuum tank and connect the carburetor(s) directly to my boat fuel tank elevated above the engine. Car runs great for 5 minutes, loads up, floods and stalls. When the motor is off fuel continues to drip. Any ideas?
