  1. Welcome aboard and nice car.  I've owned two '29 Chevy's in the past.  They were both original cars (except for paint/tires) and never really needed a lot of work.

Introduce yourself and car at the Chevrolet section of this forum.  Also I found a load of good info, advice and people from the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America.

Commonly called the "VCCA" look them up on the internet.😊

  2. "...on steroids."  Is more or less how I would describe the overall resemblance of the Lincoln to the Model-A.  I have never driven a '28-'31 Lincoln, but I have been told they drive like a truck.  I would still like to own and drive one.  And, yes I have done some miles in Model-A's.  They are a fun and economical car to own and drive. ☺️

Check out the super rare 1929 Model A Ford Town Car in the back ground to the right of the Lincoln.  1928 through 1931 Lincolns were nothing more then Model-A Fords on steroids.  I am saying this in respect for both the cars.

Beige/tan was very common on all 1931 cars; often combined with a darker shade of brown in a two-tone combination.  Too me, it was like all the grays one sees on cars today.

I think Chevrolet actually offered a paint scheme that you mentioned.  With dark brown fenders & splash aprons for the '31 roadsters.  I've owned two original '29

Chevy's over the years.  The first in '66 when I was 15 and again in the late 90's.  Great cars the only things that were not original was the paint and tires.😊

Wow I missed that one, I've been looking for a 31-32 landau phaeton for years, and now I'm getting too old to buy one!  I would have bought that one and used it as is, maybe a little sewing on the leather flaps!

Actually it was listed on eBay a while back and not Hemmings like I stated.  The years are catching up to me.☹️  Same here, I would have just touched it up and done what ever it took to make it save to drive.  Who ever won the auction sure did get a good deal!😂

  6. Thanks CarNucopia!  The Landau was for sale in Hemmings some time back.  I wanted to check it out back then, but it was to far away.  Plus, I have no place to properly

store it which is why I did not try and bid on it.  I hope the new owner takes care of it and does not make a "you-know-what" out of it.😢  Thanks again.☺️

  7. I've got my grandfathers driver's license (Raleigh,NC) from 1931.  We basically have the same name.  He was a senior and I am the 3rd with a Roman number III at the end of my name.  I always thought about carrying it when driving my '31 Model-A.  And if I ever got pulled over I would flash the '31 license on the officer and see what happens....😅

  8. Steve_Mack_CT,

Please don't mess your car up!  It looks great just as she is.  On my '31 "A" roadster, I'm running a 3:54 rear end with a "B" block and cruise 50-55 with no problems.  If you want to go a little faster.  Get one of the high-compression heads that are available.  I've got 3 high-comp. heads (Snyder, Simmons or a Thomas) to choose from.  But, my car runs so good I'm not about to tear it down so I can go a little faster.  Just my 0.2 cents....😊

  9. I believe Moto-Meter did make a somewhat similar ornament.  I've seen some for sale on eBay.  The Moto-Meter cap has the look of a V shape set of wings on top of a pedestal.  The wings remind me of the flying wing bomber of the USAF from the 40's/50's (??).  It also has a glass meter tube visible from the rear of the ornament.🤔

  10. Reference the theft of hood ornaments.  Some years back I read about a Mercedes owner (modern version) who was tired of people steeling his ornament.  So he devised a new ornament with "razor blade" add on's.  He eventually found blood all over his ornament one day.  A lawyer friend told him to stop or he could get in big trouble.🫢

  11. In reality some lawmen, of the 30's especially, preferred the BAR (Browning Automatic Rifle) over the Thompson Sub-Machine gun.  The .30 cal. ammo for the BAR had much more power and penetration abilities compared to the .45 cal. pistol cartridge of the "Chicago Typewriter".  Frank Hammer of Bonny & Clyde fame for one.
