  1. Dear all I hope you can help me with an answer to a question? I'm trying to find a new or used transmission oil cooler for my 1955 Buick, as the one I have has been leaking. However, I am unsure if it is the same oil cooler for 1956 and newer. I think 1953 – 1955 is the same but have doubts about other years.
  2. I have pulled the rear axel and torque tube assembly from my 55 Special, and am looking to buy a kit to stop it from leaking from the torque ball. I believe there are different qualities available, from the different vendors. Do you guys have any advice as to which manufactorer has the best quality kit?
  3. I just love this thread so much I had to take it up front again Found this post on Cardomain, and a link to a picturesite with more than 100 pictures, from a San Diego swapmeet held Friday February 27. Amongst the pictures was this neat old Buick truck I thought you might like to see. To me that looks like it was done many moons ago. Here is the rest of the pictures : http://www.bangshift.com/gallery/2009-Big-3-Swap-Meet-San-Diego-gallery.html
  4. Thanx for all the positive comments about my "doctored" images. The wagon rearend crafted to the original LaCrosse pictures are actually from the new (they are not going to like this ) Toyota Avensis. The Avensis is an european built salesleader for Toyota, I dont think you have a similar model in the US. http://www.velocityjournal.com/journal/2009/toyota/20373/index.html The styling of that wagon tail and sidepanels (level to the ground, big spoiler on top) is how it's supposed to look over here in 2009, the latest rage if you will. The Buick might be a bit upscale to compete with the Avensis, for the very lucrative companycar/salesmen vehicle, the Avensis and the Ford Mondeo has that market cornered. I think I know why the Buicks are selling like hot cakes in China, they are being bought by people who likes to be a little different than the rest.
  5. I am so hyped about this new Buick that if I had the oppertunity to buy a new car, this one would be it. Of course Being a certified Buicknut I will expect this to drive as good as it looks. The LaCrosse looks like it will fit right in on the road over here on the european side of the big pond, and it still has that american car feeling about it. Over here we expect american cars to be big and powerful, so they will have to offer a hi-po option like a modern day GNX, and ofcourse for a car this size in europe there has to be a wagon bodystyle in the line up. Her is my take on the GNX And here a wagon
  6. Hello is this great thread dead? If there is still some life left in it, maybe we should send this lady here away again :-) http://www.gravesights.org/91%20Buick%20Roadmaster-D'arcy.jpg

  8. I keep a close eye on a Blog by a mr. Gerry Godin, the updates a few and far between, but when they are posted they are fascinating reading. If you are not aware of this blog, you should click here : http://buickcity.blogspot.com/ This week mr. Godin has posted some great letters between David Dunbar Buick and Walter Marr, along with some of Marr's old patentcertificates, old pictures and more.
  9. One of my favorit vintages is the 1955, it's sooo beautiful. Imagine if they had made the classy Chebby Nomad a Buick in stead, what a sight to behold. Instant style leader is what it is :-)
  10. 15. Here is an interesting article I found today : (Source: autoblog.com) <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">This interesting article from FastCompany.com follows the story of Joe Qiu, known as "Shanghai Joe" within General Motors where he works at the company's Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC) in Shanghai as a car designer. Qiu and a relatively small, inexperienced team of designers were responsible for the current version of the Buick LaCrosse sold in China (shown above). This year the car is expected to sell 110,000 units in China, while it's counterpart in name only sold just 71,072 units in the U.S. during 2006. The story of GM's Chinese-based design team is certainly a rags to riches one that will culminate in the next few years with PATAC's designing the world's next Buick LaCrosse, due out in 2008 or 2009. As is the custom at GM these days, design chief Ed Welburn pitted his 11 design centers from around the world against each other for the privilege of penning the next LaCrosse. The favored North American team and the underdog Chinese team were clear favorites with the majority of good ideas, so Welburn chose to have both work on the design. The North American team will handle the exterior, while the smaller Chinese team will design the interior. The Chinese designers, though, will also have significant input on the car's exterior since it's expected that China will quickly be Buick's biggest market worldwide. We think that's just fine, as we reported last November that the Chinese LaCrosse is way cooler than ours. Indeed, the PATAC team's designs are world class compared to the derivitive and downright ugly designs coming from many of China's young automakers. Will the Chinese market one day set trends for the world market? It's a scary though, but who knows? If Joe Qiu becomes the next Ed Welburn at GM, however, things will likely be alright. </div></div> Read the whole article on fastcompany.com >>Here<<

  21. Thanx for the input guys, on my part I think it's time for a little bit of clarification <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> I know I wrote it in the first post, but i really dont know where my Roadmaster was "born" I just expected it was "born" in Canada, since it was delivered new in BC !! Which models where assembled north of the border, werent they all ? Yes my car does have areas that where repainted at som point (even covering part of the dataplate, as Brian noted) up until a few weeks ago I assumed the whole car had been subject to a respray, because of the difference in Paintnumber versus actual color, that was until I found the factory stampings under all the roadgrime !! Who in their right mind would restore a car 30 years ago, down to the last bolt and including factory stampings, and then put another 30K miles on it ?? In my case I think Lamar, unfortunatly, might be right <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> as in "Internal memo: remember to check the new guys in the paintbooth for colour blindness!" <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> My car just happen to be proof that alltough a Buick, not a perfect car. Thats one for the judges to think about <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> I checked my <span style="font-weight: bold">aluminium</span> plate (not stainless !!??) on the doorpost and it says 16503880, which does make it one of those assembled in Flint, my book says their numbers started at 16436001, but where did they end ? and what numbers did they have at what plants in Canada ? On the subject of dataplates and the like, I happend to spot this one on a 64 Wildcat thats just passed thru Ebay: Where the 1952 supposed to have something similar to this (When Canadian assembled) or when did they start with this type of serial number plate ? It seems to me, that there is a lot of digging to, on this subject ?!
  22. Can some one help me find out why my 1952 Roadmaster 72R is green when the paint code on the bodytag says Paint No. 9 Venetian Blue (a very dark blue)? My Buick was born and raised in B.C., Canada, is that why there is a difference between my US numbers book, and the number on the tag ? I dont think my otherwise unrestored car has had a paintjob, at least not within the last 20 years, and certainly not to an extend where absolutly nothing are seen of that dark blue color! When I started to dismantle some of the things on the firewall I found these factory stampings, which clearly shows that may Roadmaster was green from the beginning <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> So did the Canadian Buicks, have a set of color codes all by themself, Or was my car painted green by mistake <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> Any thoughts and comments would be greatly appriciated. Johnny B. Goode
  23. According to my master parts book, that grille bar is for a 1951 and 52 series 40.
