This car was designed around the same time as the Cadillac Eldorado Brougham which used narrow stripe whitewalls as well. Maybe a joint effort.

As much as I would like to see the meet postponed to late Aug or Sept as proposed, I feel we will see a second,but not as severe, Covid 19 uptick in June/July as people begin to move about again. The healthcare system will be in a better position to handle this outbreak; however, it would seem to make sense to cancel for this year. I hope wheels can be set in motion to have Northeast Ohio Chapter have the opportunity to host in 2023 or 2024 as has been suggested. I also hope the BCA will be able to minimize any losses and be aggressive in insisting those losses be shared by the hotels etc. I agree with Willie (Old Tank) that this is why the club has these supposedly "Excessive" reserves to be able to respond to extraordinary events. I speak both personally and as Director of the Glass City Chapter.

What numbers are listed on the body tag on the cowl? Model 59=Super. Model 79=Roadmaster. Should solve what engine you have.

Nice to see your engine still has the crankcase vent pipe to the carburetor and original oil filter intact. These were modified or removed per 1942 Service Bulletins when oil filter material was not available and the vent system caused coking of the jets in the carb.

Stuart: Last year I referred one our chapter members to your 2010 post on the subject of his 1935 Model 46 overheating. Owned the car since 1983 but was not aware of the baffle inside. Using your pictures as reference, he used a brass door kickplate available at many home centers or hardware stores. He cut, fit, and installed it. So far this seems to have cured the problem, although he was not able during this last year to really give the car a good long drive. I met you at BCA Danvers Meet in 2011. Good to see you're continuing to post.

Exactly on splash control for oil control. First used in 1942 and noted in the 1942 Service Bulletins.

Pete: My thought is that these are water jacket covers for the early straight eights. Group 1.140 used from 1931 through 1935 until the water passages were cast into the block itself. Of course each of those 8's had its own sizes as shown in the parts book; so hopefully some of the guys on this site who have one of these engines could measure theirs to compare with yours so you can determine what series covers they fit.
