Today i did get my christmas present : 1940 Buick owners manual ..I looked how they changed a flat tire in 1940 .Several tools to do that .Grab the wheel rim , lift it and then another tool to support the brake drum and then you could remove the wheel and then the other way around .I don't have any of the tools in my car and i wonder if anybody ever used those tools .Very dangerous if you ask me .I think the tool to support the brake drum is the same that holds the spare wheel in the trunk .I'm missing that also .I would like to buy that support if I can .

Can't keep the engine gasses from running me out of the cab
daniel boeve replied to Skidplate's topic in Buick - Pre War
Its all very simple when you ask me .There must be a little overpressure in the cabin , so when you drive you don't suck in the wrong air from the engine but from someplace else .That vent or how do you call that opens on top in front of the windscreen open it , those little windows turn them open so fresh air is forced in instead of out of the cabin . -

I had exactly the same car about 10 years ago .It was completely restored .Those car run very good when they are in good shape .Down here nobody knew such car .Some people liked and some didn't like it at all .I sold it to Germany later.40K is a strong price in that condition is my idea . -

I know that the price starts with a 4...So you will have to break open more than one savings pot . -
I had exactly the same car in 1980-83 .Bought it for 250$ then and drove it home .Could not drive it because cars had to be 25 years old before you had a small road tax here in Belgium .Sold it around 1983 and followed it till 10 years ago .They say it went to Holland and i never saw it back .Wish i found it back so maybe i could buy it back .Mine was also a white 1961 and with black leather interior .

Hallo , my spare wheel is lying down in the trunk .What i don't have is the holder system that keeps the wheel on its place .I saw such holder in other cars .I am confident that the wheel will not slide out of the trunk while driving but its also to complete my car .To everybody a merry christmas and a happy 2024.

I have some problems with my hydraulics also on a 1950 cadillac , a job for next spring , I already looked in the shop manual and its not that complicated ( I hope so ) My biggest concern would be rust on this car and top is no big problem ( I have put a new one on my 1950 also (700$ plus headaches )

Buick 1940 Window crank handle wanted ( With pictures)
daniel boeve replied to daniel boeve's topic in Buick - Pre War
Hallo , i looked again and drilling a hole in the flange of 1 mm thick to insert a pin i cannot do that .Surely you cannot use it then to raise the window .It will break as glass , but THANKS for your remark -
I hope you forgive me but I made a new post with pictures from the handle I broke this week .The window had a lot of tensioning from sitting and i put a little force on the crank and it broke .Very bad start of the week !Mine was like new what i even made worser .I made pictures from another one and you can see in the middle is a opening what makes it even more breakable GRRR.So the search starts for another one .I see that the ones from a fifties Cadillac I have also fit on the crank but I would like it better to find another original .
