  1. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">My knowledge of the process was it was suppose to be red oxide primer with overspray in alot of places. I call it the sloppy undercarriage. </div></div> On 65-68's, undercarriage was either red oxide or gray primer. Engine compartment blackout faded into the primer in the trans tunnel. Wheel well blackout showed overspray onto the primer as well. Concours undercarriages were less forgiving and not sloppy as originals. 64.5's may have been different as I understand that they had some specific unique things associated with them that were changed at the beginning of 65 production. BTW nice car.
  2. Glad it worked out for you. To clean the top use Mr. Clean Magic Erasers. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
  3. To shrink a top, lightly wet the inside with a steamer and let dry in the sun. To stretch a top, use heat evenly on the outside.
  4. Looking for a good, reliable source for new or remade door panels for a '53 Cadillac Series 62. Mohair & leather. Thanks
  5. Actually Antique Auto Battery hasn't made their old Tar Top batteries for years. They switched to the new "Poly-Tar" Battery. It simulates the look of Tar without being soft. It is actually a type of plastic. I have been using their new Maintenance Free Poly-Tar series on my 50's and 60's cars for about 3 years. These correct looking (except not a soft tar top but plastic) batteries contain an Optima Battery inside that is wired to the lugs of the Poly-Tar Battery. They are acid free and I have had no problems with them as of yet. I got tired of the old lead/acid batteries leaking and losing charge every few years. These Maintenance Free Poly-Tar Batteries are somewhat expensive initially but if they last longer than the reproduction lead/acid ones thay will turn out to be cheaper in the long run.
  6. Thank you both. I will defer to Karen to make the final decision. We will also contact Peggy. Update: Contacted Peggy. All taken care of. FYI: I looked thru the online 2006 Judging Manual and apparently this change didn't make it to this particular print. The 2006 Manual still indicates only the surrender of a Senior Badge in the event of owner transfer. May want to make a note to add it to the 2007 printing. I understand that the change just occurred at the Annual Meeting this year.
  7. We purchased a very early 1928 Model A Roadster (AR) that was awarded an AACA Senior in 1971. We contacted AACA headquarters last year and understood that upon transfer the vehicle was returned to a 1st Junior and that we would have to re-Senior the car. We were preparing to do that this year. This weekend we were at the Auburn Auction having dinner with another AACA member and he mentioned that the rule had recently changed and re-Senioring the car was not necessary. Is this the case? Thanks in advance. Chuck & Karen Walder www.ckautollc.com
  8. We just got home as well. This was a fantastic meet. Left home in the pouring rain, arrived home in the pouring rain, but had 2 terrific days of sun at Va Beach. Well done meet! Kuddos to all who were involved. Chuck & Karen Walder '56 Artic Blue Corvette www.ckautollc.com

  11. I use Tappan spray cleaner on my trailers. They are white. Tappan is used to clean RV's and trailers. I buy it by the case (4 gallons) and use an inexpensive garden sprayer to apply then simply rinse it off. I find it works much better than simple green. It also removes all wax and grease so I follow-up with teflon car polish. Once you use it you'll never be without. You can reach them at (740) 922-9200.
  12. I had similar problems with my work done by White Post. They do not guarantee their work if you use silicone brake fluid but never tell you that until you have a problem. I also found that they left out some parts in my master cylinder when they rebuilt it, which was the ultimate cause of the problems.
  13. Just wanted to thank the Roanoke group for the hospitality at this last weekends show. Also, it is much appreciated that you have so quickly posted the meet results online. This really helps those of us who couldn't stay for the banquet. Thanks again.
