  1. I have not reassembeled mine yet, but when I took it apart the upper grill bar would not come out until the bumber was off, this leads me to believe that the upper bar would have to be mounted first. I believe they call this the mustache bar. If the ends are off it my slide in with the bumber on. Where did you get your rechromeing done and what was the cost?
  2. Beer is a good thing, it may have also influenced my purchase. Thank you for the information.
  3. I bought what I thought was a 40's Packard Hood Ornament. It is a swan in show condition. After searching ebay and other sites it appears that I got ripped off. The swan I got looks somewhat like a 48 swan but the swans neck isn't hanging down as low as the ones, I've seen,it appears that this swan got proud all of a sudden and raised it's head. The ones I've seen have a drooping neck.It is very similar to ebay item # 4532421433 which I think must be a knockoff also. I do not have a photo yet but will get one posted asap. Does anyone know anything about these and if there are companies that produce knockoffs that are a close resemblence to the originals? I don't know if theres patents that prevent companies from making exact replicas. I appreciate any help that you can give. I bought the item at an auction because I thought I could resale it on ebay for a little profit.
  4. There is one on ebay now item number 4529743602 the bid so far is up to $19.95 with three days to go.
  5. I have the following items listed on ebay, 92-99 LaSabre hubcap item number, 7952860659, 80-86 LaSabre and 80-85 Estate Wagon item number 7952871375, LaSabre, Limited, Park Ave., Regal Centercap item number 7952872854, 84-96 Century item number 7952885343. Thanks for looking.
  6. Can anyone tell me how to remove an old carburetor stove pipe on a straight eight engine (53 Buick special with a 263). Mine has broken off flush with the manifold. The stove pipe runs all the way through the manifold and looks like it will be a bear to get out and reinstall a new one. I have the new one but am reluctant to tear into it. The only thing I can think of is to drill it out. Thanks in advance for the help.
  7. Do you think I could have the drain cock replaced with a hose fitting? I just spent $371 having the radiator recored and refurbished.I don't want to spend more money on another radiator. Thank You for your help.
  8. Could anyone tell me where all the heater hoses go to on a 53 buick special with a straight 8? There are four heater hoses two goes to the water pump from the fire wall and one to the thermostat housing from the fire wall, I believe that some of the hoses also go back to the heater core under the passanger seat and to the automatic Dynaflow transmission, the fourth one I have and the one I have a question about has an old end on it that has rusted through, the hose goes toward the bottom of the radiator from what I think is the defroster heater core box where the big vent hose connects that is on the left side of the firewall if your looking at the car, but my radiator does not have an end to attatch a heater hose to, there is a drain cock facing the rear of the car where the hose looks like it should go, there is also another drain cock on the other side of theradiator facing the front of the car. This makes me think that some one replaced the hose fitting with a drain cock to get by in a pince, I couldn't imagine driving in minnosota in the winter without heat. I just need to know where the hose I'm describing go to up toward the front of the engine. Thanks for your help. Kenny McDaniel BCA # 40764
  9. No, I don't have an extra one, I'm just hoping that mine works when I get the motor going and test drive it, mine is a Dynaflow, I understand that they are great transmissions. I've also seen a rebuild kit for a reasonable price, do you have one that's not working or you just don't have one at all?
  10. What color should a fuel tank for a 53 buick special be painted, I don't know if it is primer color gray or black? Thanks for your help.
  11. Can anyone tell me what color the fuel tank is suppose to be on a 53 buick special, I am restoring one and don't know if the tank is silver, primer colored or black? Thanks for your help.
  12. Anybody at all? I can buy it for $4000. I am currently restoring one just like it, I would be interested in buying it to resale. Would it be worth it?
  13. Can anyone tell me what a 53 Special with four doors is worth, it has been restored to a driver condition, it runs and has excellent paint and interior but is not show quality. The chrome is in excellent shape as well as the hood and trunk emblems. It has nice white wall tires.I don't know the mileage. Thanks for your help. Kennymac55 BCA # 40764
