  1. Does anyone know what the proper color scheme for the Fisher tag is on a 36 Special? It seems like they've varied slightly over the years from all black background to black with a blue coach. Also has anybody repainted one and have any tips. Thanks in advance.
  2. On my 1936 Special Sedan one key fits all locks: ignition, glove box, door, trunk, and side mount spare tires. Greg
  3. Rod, Here's a picture of my generator with temporary wiring. The red wire attaches to the 'AMM' terminal and runs to the positive terminal on the ammeter. The negative ammeter terminal then connects to the starter at the battery input. The blue wire connects to the back of the light switch, which connects to the starter solenoid relay. The black wire closest to the fender connects with the condenser to the terminal next to the red wire. The black wire closest to the engine is ground. In the picture it's connected to the relay mount. I've also seen it connected to the generator body via the screw just visible towards the engine. Hope this helps. Greg
  4. The tabs for the connections should be stamped with 'bat', 'grd', and 'amm'. It may be under the washers. When I get home from work I can provide some pictures. I believe there's also an illustration in the shop manual. Greg
  5. Here's two pictures of the firewall in my 1936 Special. Pretty sure the small hole in the very center is for the speaker mount. Greg
  6. I've got an original 1936 Deluxe heater that's not installed. I've attached pictures below along with a shot of my firewall showing the punchouts for the heater hoses and holes for the heater mounts. Soory about the bad drawing it's the best I can do with this stupid mouse pad.
  7. The first car I really feel in love with was a 1936 Pontiac. I was 12 and it sat in a field in the small town in Montana where my great grandmother lived. At the time it could have been gassed up and driven away. My grandmother went with me to visit the owner whom she knew. I wanted to buy it but he wouldn't sell as it had been his mother's. I tried again 10 years later but no deal. By then all the glass had been smashed out and various bits stolen. I watched over the ensueing 20 years as it slowly rotted away and was eventually hauled off for scrap. Still pains me 40 years later.
  8. Bill, It looks like you have a Special, but that is based only on the fact that there is no chrome trim strip running along the top of the headlights. There shouild be a data plate on the right side of the cowl in the engine bay. The numbers on that will tell us for sure. I've attached a picture below of the plate on my car. 9. Welcome Bill. I have a 36 Special 4 Dr that I'm in the process of restoring. I have always had good luck with Bob's Automobilia. I have a somewhat up to date blog on my efforts. The link is in my signature. Happy to answer any questions Greg
  10. Tom, It turns out that I have two different floor plates for the steering shaft/brake/clutch. They are the same overall dimensions but the spacing and size of the holes are different. I'm not sure what their model application is. I don't appear to have anything for the shift and brake lever area. I'm attaching some pictures of each. Here's the first one, I'll do the second in a separate post. I'll work on some dimensional tracings as well. Greg
  11. What Series are we talking about here? I have a 1930 66 and I think I have some floor plates for it. I've got some pictures posted here look for the 1930 Chrysler link on the left hand side. I'd be happy to provide tracings or the like.
  12. The front seat cushion in my 1936 Special sedan is rapidly disintegrating so I've decided to try my hand at reupholstering. I at least want to get it so that I can drive around without it being a literal pain in the rear. I have carefully disassembled the old cushion and sewn a practice cover. My question is how far do I compress the springs when attaching the cover? Does anyone have a 36 with original or new upholstery that could measure the distance from the bottom of the cushion to the top along the front edge (see pictures). Here's a picture of what was left of the seat and my amateur attempt at a new cover.
  13. Sorry it took so long but here are the pictures of the back of the front gender and the running board.
  14. Tom, Yes there is a piece at the back of the front fender. I can post a picture tomorrow. There was some sort of welting between the fenders and the running board base. It looked the it was normal welting at the rear, but at the front fender the running board rubber goes over the fender to running board connection. It seems like they just cut the piping off the welt and left the rest as a gasket. Currently I have welting in both places but I'm not sure what to do with it at the edges. If I leave it as is it will interfere with the chrome trim piece that runs along the edge of the running boards and fenders, but to just cut it off would look ugly. I'll post some pictures tomorrow that may better explain. Greg
  15. Here's a couple of photos. The car is dirty but it's below zero right now so it's not getting washed anytime soon.
  16. Yes, the 36 Buick had welting on both the front and rear fenders. Greg
  17. Hi all, Just to add to the database of pictures here are some from my 1930 66. I believe it is a Hayes body. Greg
  18. I found this hood ornament in a box of tools I recently picked up. Can anyone give me an idea of it's age. Thanks in advance.
  19. Here are the ones from my '36 Special. There is also a third one that goes between the frame rails and under the harmonic balancer.
  20. I've got a number of 1936 parts for sale on eBay. They are mostly pads and grommets from Steele Rubber or Metro Moulded Parts and are new in unopened packages. Some fit other years as well. 21. In the end I went with the gravel guard last as you said. It seemed to fit better that way.
  22. I'm in the process of reinstalling my rear bumper and gravel guard. The question I have is where the gravel guard goes in relation to the bumper and brackets. Is the sequence bumper, gravel guard mounts, bumper mounts or bumper, bumper mounts, gravel guard mounts?
  23. Thanks for the reply. Turns out that my daughter helped me remove them years ago and when I looked closer she had written RR and LR on them and they are curve up.
  24. The bumper mounting brackets for the 36's have a slight s-curve in them. What is the proper way to mount them. Curve up so the bumper slightly higher from the ground or curve down closer to the ground. Mine are currently curve up and the trunk lid still clears the bumper, which is the only thing I can see mattering.
