  1. I did a search and did not find any discussion on celebrating the 50 years of 1967 Buicks at the BCA Meet in July in Brookfield. Any plans anyone knows about or perhaps we start a string here for those of us who are bringing 67 cars. I plan to bring my 1967 SportWagon I am turning into a GS400 clone (which was not made in station wagon models). If for some reason we don't bring the wagon then I will bring the 67 GS400 4 spd convertible. Thoughts/comments?

  4. Jeff I wanted to offer my congrats along with others. We traveled 3500+ miles round trip from Fort Worth, TX with the 1932 Buick in the trailer and had a great time. Your willingness to take me to the trailer parking area in your SUV on Wednesday just indicated how helpful you were in the midst of trying to keep the event moving along. Dianne and I really appreciated your leadership skills especially at the BHA Banquet and the Awards Banquet. You know how to move the evening along and stay on time. Thanks for all your hard work and planning for the last four years and the success of the event in spite of the rain starting at 1:00 PM on Saturday. See you in Wisconsin BCA 2017 Chuck

  6. I took a few photos of cars for sale at the meet so I have downloaded a few. This was my first Chickashe Pre-war and was surprised on the volume of Model T 'stuff'. Must be a great place to find anything you need for a 'T'. Lots of Model A stuff also. Nice restorable Lincoln Zephyr V12, nice running light blue 1911 Hudson, and a pair of 1932 Buick headlights and parking lights for only $1000, I shoulda picked them up for spares Chuck
  7. Looking at attending my first Chickasha, only 3.5 hours from the house. Update: I am in Duncan, OK tonight about an hour away and will arrive at the swap meet about 8 AM or sooner tomorrow morning. Looking forward to it and meeting the guys at noon at Steve's Chuck
  8. Leland I was going to tell you that my 1932 67 is just under 16' with trunk in place. I have a 24' enclosed trailer that I use and it has cabinets in the front and I still have plenty of room. I have a spare tire in a floor box at the front and the car does not come far enough to block it. I use a combination of the 'basket' type tie downs on the rear of the car and they are connected to floor strips I installed. In the front while I have the baskets I use the standard tie downs cris-crossed and this arrangement has worked well on trips all across the country from Colorado to the East Coast and Texas to Iowa. I have been going to BCA National meets since 2009 and have worked my way up the AACA ladder to the National Senior Award. I did install an electric jack and that is the smartest thing I did since us old guys don't need to be cranking on a trailer tongue with a 5000# car in the trailer. I have a battery in the trailer and it is tied to my tow vehicle when the lights are connected and gets charged by the tow vehicle when connected. I also use a load leveling hitch on a Ford F250 Super Duty Diesel pickup.

My hood hinge strap on my 32 67S was literally ripped open by the force of opening the drivers side of the hood a while back when we did not realize the front stop in the hinge strap had come loose. I had the strap brazed and rechromed but it is not looking right ( the chrome is already peeling off) and the repair was not that good. I am looking for an original hood strap with or with the interior stops in place that I can have rechromed. I have a repro strap but it is not the quality or correct profile of the original and I am afraid the hood would not operate correctly if I tried to use it. I believe an 80/90 series hood strap could work if cut down in length as the strap tapers from front (narrower) to back (wider) and perhaps I could shorten it for the 60 series. I would consider any option including a strap still attached to a hood which is not salvageable but the strap is, Let me know what you might have . I do have someone looking at the possibility of manufacturing a new one and perhaps several more for others who might need this piece in the future but not sure how difficult it will be and how expensive. I don't have a lot of choice because with the piece the hood cannot be secured to the car. Chuck

During a repair of my hood the piece was set aside in a shop and apparently lost such that I have been loaned a piece by another 32 Buick owner for a short time so I can have my car in a major event in downtown Fort Worth where the car will be featured inside the convention center as part of the event theme in second weekend of February. During a repair of my hood the piece was set aside in a shop and apparently lost such that I have been loaned a piece by another 32 Buick owner for a short time so I can have my car in a major event in downtown Fort Worth where the car will be featured inside the convention center as part of the event theme in second weekend of February. I have posted photos of the piece (prior to it being lost). I have the bolts and piece with the threads that the missing piece bolts to.   15. I second the recommendation Larry made. George made one for me to use on my 1932 67S rear wheels 2 years ago and it worked great. He wanted to know the thread count which I supplied to him. There is one vendor at Hershey that has a table full of them but no indentification of what they fit. I bought one cheap because I thought it would fit but it did not when I got it home. George told me his son would keep up the manufacturing of the pullers when he became unable to do so. Chuck

  17. I posted in Wanted to Buy that I need a heat riser for my 1932 Series 67 sedan. My engine started missing badly and stalling. When we checked a number of things we found the middle four cylinders are not firing because the apparently are not getting gas. We checked compression and all 8 cylinders had 90 lbs, there is fire to all plugs (we converted the distributor to a single set of points). The carburetor was rebuilt 250 miles ago but we have it off and will check it to see if we have blockage. I noticed yesterday that the heat riser had two vertical cracks so we are removing it to see how damaged it is. I am thinking that those cracks are causing the lack of gas into the middle four cylinders. We have also seen gas dripping to the floor when the engine is running, even badly and missing. It is like there is not enough vacuum to suck the gas into the cylinders. I understand the heat riser is cast iron and there are specialists that know how to weld it and perhaps seal the cracks. Appreciate any advice or experience folks have had in similar situations, Chuck
  18. I need a 1932 Series 60 Heat Riser that matches with the Marvel 1051 carburetor. I understand the 60 series riser is different from the 50 series and a 50 would not work on the 60 engine. All advice and sources for a riser appreciated. My heat riser has new cracks in it and not sure if it can be fixed. I am told they can be welded but since the riser is cast iron it will take a specialist who knows how to weld cast iron. I understand it is a tedious and long process involving 3 days in an oven heating the part to almost a glowing red temperature, make the welds and then cooling down in an oven for another three days. All advice or sources for a riser appreciated. Chuck
